The second I step into the building, her intoxicating scent of fern and evergreen drifts to me, wrapping me in love and

longing. If only that was what she felt for me. I hope that she’s calling me so to say that she’s giving me a chance.

The second that the door is opened, her beautiful face fills my sight and it’s all that I can do not to run to her. I need her. She’s my luna. My mate. My world. I feel my wolf surging forward, wanting to grovel in front of her, begging her to take him back before he smothers her in k*sses and marks her. We both feel the exact same way. Problem is, he will do it before she’s

ready because she is his mate and all that he wants.

Goddess, she’s beautiful. Her b*dy has become stronger, her curves and muscles filling out in the time that she’s been here. Her skin has become a golden tan and I can feel the powerful aura that is flowing off of her and her wolf. She would be a mighty luna for our people, the perfect protector for our pups, and my as s kicker any time that I step out of line.

I almost chuckle at that image before I recognize the wariness in her eyes when she sees me. That’s what truly holds me

back. I need to get her to trust me again before I attempt to make her mine.

When I walked in, Head Commander Sophia had her wrapped in a hug and is whispering something in her ear and I can’t tell what she says, but Oakley seems to know. When they pull apart, Oakley smiles brightly at the Head Commander as the latter

walks out of the room

Without saying a word to me, Oakley y waves for me to move to the small sitting area in the room I walk after her, trying to memorize every bit of her that I can see. The sway of her hips as she walks, the way that she has her hair braided and thrown

over her shoulder, the slight upturn of her nose. She’s absolutely f ucking stunning. And if this is indeed going to be the last time

that I see her, the memory of her b*dy, her smile, how her nose wrinkles as we sit and she tries to figure out what to say.

She goes to speak, but I raise my had slightly, indicating that I want to talk. She nods and her movements are so regal, so

luna-like. She would be an amazing luna to our pack and I want her so badly. I want her for my pack, my pups, and my life.

“Dakley.” I say and her name in my mouth sends tingles of pleasure throughout my b*dy. I’ve got to convince her that I’m

sorry. I’ve got to prove to her that it will never happen again. I’ve got to make her trust me so that she will give me a chance. I

know that I can prove to her how much I love her. I can make her happy. I can give her the most amazing life and make her a

queen among lunas.

“There is nothing that I can say that will excuse, redeem, or justify what I’ve done to you. I know that it was part of the Goddess’s process to get you here, but there isn’t anything that would rectify the pain that I put you through, both physically and emotionally. You have every reason to tell me to complete your rejection and my wolf and I will be punishing me for it for the

rest of my life. I don’t deserve you.”

And I don’t. I can never deserve her. No matter how many amends that I make or how much I do to make her happy. After all that I’ve done to her, there is no way that I can deserve her. But I can seek to. I can try to make everyday that she has. I have

to convince her to let me try

I don’t know when I started crying, but I don’t even try to cover up my tears as I sit with my head in my hands trying to figure out how best to tell her how much she is needed.

“All that I can do is beg for your forgiveness. All I can do is grovel at your feet and beg for you to give me a chance make it up to you. All I can do is tell you how very much I love you and want to spend the rest of my life showing you how very worthy you are of being a luna. I am so deeply and incredibly sorry that I did the things that I did. I’m so sorry…

My voice breaks and I can’t continue for a second. I’m already bawling, needing my luna. I need to pull her into my arms and

I can’t, because I know that she will freak if I try. I don’t blame her at all. Can you imagine your abuser for months suddenly

change and want to wrap you in their arms? But I can’t give up.

Moving to kneel in front of her, I look up into her beautiful face, tears streaming down mine. She stares at me with pity in

her eyes and I hope that this pity means something good for me.

“I beg you, Oakley. I beg you to come home with us. Our pack will have a good and just luna. Your family will be whole. And will have people who worship you and hold your life and needs above everything else, not least of all, the alpha who is currently at your feet. I love you. I need you in my life. That’s it. That’s all I know to do. I’ve apologized. I’ve told her that I love her. I’ve told her that I will spend the rest of my life making it up to her. That’s all that I can do. Now I just have to wait and see what she has to say.

She seems to think about it for a minute and the expression on her face doesn’t change. I have no idea what she’s thinking.

The sound of my name on her l*ps sends a shiver of pleasure through my b*dy and my wolf howls with pleasure at the sound. It’s been so long since I’ve heard her voice. And the first word from her l*ps is my name. It puffs me up with pride and…

Her words cause me to flinch. I’ve only had a small taste of the pain that she’s felt from when she’s been with her other

mate and it’s the most pain I’ve felt in my entire life. When I was with those other she wolves, I was just trying to get off and forget about the pain that I had caused Oakley. These two go for hours. The pain endures for huge periods of time. I can

understand why she doesn’t want me to be a part of her life. I get it. But that doesn’t make me happy. If anything, this pain is even worse than knowing that she’s not been faithful to me.

“I can’t go back and face those memories on a daily basis. Especially when it comes time to giving you an heir. I’m sorry,

Levi, but I can’t.”

Tears pour from my eyes, dripping from my chin and onto the floor. I did this. I pushed away this beautiful she-wolf with my

old-fashioned ideas and cruelty.

I could easily rage and blame the Goddess for her part in this. But this is because of my deep-seated hate. My own prejudices. The Goddess just made them come out. It’s all my fault.

I nod, knowing that our matebond is finished and that we will never get the chance for me to love her as desperately as i

want to. Just one more touch. That’s all I want. I hold my hand out to her and wait to see if she puts her hand in mine.

When she does, I breathe a small sigh of relief. I nuzzle her hand, feeling the fated sparks moving over my skin. I fl*p her

hand over and place a k*ss on her palm.
