Gone (Book Two of the Dark Lycans Series)
Chapter Twenty-Three: Escape

"No way," I gasped. We found an area in the mountain that is like a garage. I grabbed the two mountain bikes and Shade and I ride out of the tunnel.

We rode through the forest, swerving through the trees. The town I remember was only a few more miles away.

We aren't that fr from the Silver Bloods Pack, I realized.

You just now realized that? Ira snorted. I growled at her but before I could say anything to her, we could see the buildings come into view.

We put our bikes against a tree, and walked along the path into the town.

The smell of cars and food fills my nose. The chatter of people floods my ears, and I shake my head to clear the noise.

I smile when I see the different shops. Knowing Shade, I lead her towards a store I know she will like.

"Raven, what if we run into some of our pack here?" Shade asks me suddenly.

"Huh, I never thought about that. Guess we'll find out," I shrug. She rolls her eyes, just as we walk into the store.

"What is this place called again?"

"Hot Topic." I smirk. She looks around in awe, and runs straight to the band shirts. She squeals and grabs several shirts, earrings, and chokers.

I pay for them with my credit card. I didn't have it with me but I had all of the necessary numbers memorized.

"That was awesome!" Shade shrieks as we exit the store. I smirk at her.

"Thought you might like it. Now come on, we still have more shopping to do," I tell her. I wave her over to the next few stores.

"This is my absolute favorite store," I say bringing Shade into Victoria's Secret. I drag Shade around for several hours before she finally calls it quits.

"So, uh, what are we going to tell our mothers about how we disappeared?" Shade asks me as we head back to our bikes.

"I bet they are still taking care of Blake, if anything goes wrong, we'll just tell them we were practicing in the tunnels. So, for now, we'll just shower quickly to get rid of the smell," I wave her off.

"Okay but you better not use all the hot water this time," Shade smirks.

"Yeah well, no promises," I chuckle. We drove our dirt bikes back to the mountain and parked them in the garage.

Shade called out for Calypso, and I whistled for Zelda. The cheetahs came running and purred as we stroked their fur and got onto their backs.

We sneak into the safe room and creep to our bedrooms. They were side by side so I could hear Shade laugh when I almost knocked something over.

It made a loud noise when I bumped into it, and I cursed.

"Damn these rooms seem a lot smaller now," I muttered walking into the bathroom. I took a hot shower, and combed my hair.

It was down to my hips now, and I thought about how long it has been since I last cut it.

I put my bronze hair into a braid over my shoulder and dig through the shopping bags. I put on one of my new white sports bras with blue basket ball shorts, and head into the kitchen.

I grab an apple and devour it quickly. Lily suddenly walks into the room looking a little sad.

"Can you tell Shade that I need to talk to her? Its very important," Lily says. I nod but give her a suspicious look when I determine that she must be hiding something.

I walk to Shade's room and slam open the door with wide eyes. She is sitting on her bed with headphones, listening to music.

"What is it? You seem shocked about something," she asks, concern evident in her voice.

"Your mother wants to talk to you, says its important." I tell her as I walk to her bed and push aside the curtain surrounding it. She nods and leaves me to look around her room in awe.

It was different than I remember it, but I didn't focus too much on the details. I crept through the hall and hid behind the wall in the kitchen.

I listened in to the conversation.

"...I think I am going to have to have you go back to your pack and leave Raven behind," I catch Lily saying. My eyes widen and I clap a hand over my mouth to stifle a growl.

"I'm sorry mom, but I don't think that is going to happen. I am going to stay-" Shade gets cut off by my mother's voice.

"Shadow, this is the best thing right now okay? Raven needs time to train and you need to get back to your pack. You have a week to get ready then we will sneak you out after dark," she tells Shade.

Ira is growling and snarling more than I have ever heard her before. And my anger is rising to levels even my father couldn't make it go.

I hear Shade cry, and I feel myself about to snap.

"But I can't leave her! Not after all she has done for me!" Shade yelled. I decide I can't take it any longer and I run away from the mess.

I run straight into my room and slam the door shut.

I clench my teeth and slam my fist into the white wall. The metal under the paint bends and my hand leaves a huge dent.

My eye catches on a control panel looking thing, and I push one of the buttons. It changes the color of the walls, and the dent is gone.

I feel my anger temporarily be replaced with curiosity. I hit the button several times and realize that I can decorate my room with just this panel.

I keep changing everything until I decide that I like the way it looks. The walls were white with red and black swirls.

My bed was black with white and red swirls, the frame was made of silver and steel. My favorite part of the room, were the weapons that covered the walls.

"Holy fuck this is awesome!" I shout in excitement. My ears catch the small sound of Shade entering her bedroom, and I thought I heard her laugh.

Looking around, I saw the guns in a frame above my bed, along with daggers and swords hung on the walls. I sat on my bed and noticed my phone on the nightstand.

"Aha! There you are," I said grabbing my phone. I found a pair of headphones, and played music on my phone.

I was playing a game I think is called Happy Jump or something like that, when Shade walks in. I paused my music and unplugged my headphones.

"Hey," she said with a smile.

"Hey. What's up?" I say to her.

"Nothing, just thought I came in to say good night," she tells me.

"Oh cool. Well I am not going to bed just yet. I think I am going to go to the night club for a little," I say looking back down at my phone.

I was on a particularly hard level that I have already tried a dozen times.

"Cool, I didn't even know there was a night club around here," she smiled. I nod but then my face becomes angry when I lose the level again.

"The damn game!" I yell throwing my phone across the room. Shade laughed while I cross my arms and hunch over, muttering curse words.

"Okay well I am going to bed, call me if you need anything," Shade said picking up my phone and tossing it to me.

I caught it and notice there isn't a single scratch on it.

"Have fun at the club, and try not to kill anyone," she warned me smiling. I roll my eyes and playfully hit her arm.

"Okay sleep well, see you in the morning. Or not, depending on if I get arrested tonight," I tell her with a wink. She rolled her eyes and started walking out into the hall.

She suddenly stopped at my doer frame and looked down at the floor.

"Promise you won't forget me again," she says. She thinks I don't know she leaving, I realized.

"What do you mean again?" I ask feeling confused.

"Just promise me," she says. I hear her voice crack, and I can tell she wants to cry.

"Okay, I promise I won't," I tell her. She relaxes a little and goes back to her own room.

I shut my door and get into my bed. I lay in the darkness for a little, before deciding that I won't get any sleep tonight.

I was digging through my shopping bags, and thinking about today's events, when I feel something wet hit my hand.

I realized that I was crying and I furiously wiped the tears away. You heard what May said, its for her own good! Ira scolded me.

Thanks for the reminder bitch! I growled at her. She chuckled before returning to the back of my mind.

I finally found what I was looking for in my bags. It was a beautiful yellow lace with a plunging neckline ending mid thigh. It was fitted but flared out from my waist.

I slipped it on finding my nude stilettos, and grabbed my phone.

I searched my room until I found my thigh strap. I took a gun from the frame above my bed, and put it under the thigh strap.

I shoved my phone into my bra, and walked out of my bedroom. I carried my stilettos so my feet would stay silent on the hard floor.

I crept along the wall until I reached the silver door. I opened the door and slipped out, closing it as quietly as I could.

"And now its time for some fun."
