FOREVER KNIGHTS: #6 Malevolent Attentions
Rhyers Tells Me to Visit Bast

At length Alazar sighed. Pulling on his pants and boots, Buckling his sword belt, he stood from the tall grass and strode back into Warwood. Tunic clenched in a white knuckled fist.

A hand landed on his shoulder. Making him spin and instinctively draw his sword. Putting it to the assailant’s neck.

Rhyers scowled. Swallowing slightly. “Mind removing that?”

Yes. Yes, I do mind.

“Why do you do that sneaky shit? You know I don’t cope well.”

I’m like to cut off your fool head!

“It’s not me your irritated with.”

It’s partly you.

“Oh?” Alazareth’s blonde brows rose.

He was spying on me.

“I’m not one of your subjects.”

“Believe it or not, I was trying not to listen.”

“So purely by accident then?”

“Umm…Well, I was looking for you-” He eyed the blade gripped in Alazar’s hand. “Can you put that thing down.”

No.

“Depends on what you’re going to say.”

“Nothing that you’ll like, I warn you in advance.”

Ugh.

Alazar sighed and lowered the blade. “This is about my brother, isn’t it?”

“Well, I came in search of you. I followed you to the field then I heard…Sounds. So, I went deeper in the woods.” Rhyers shook his head. Turning slightly white. “I’d no intent on hearing that!” Rhyers shifted.

Smart. I wouldn’t have taken well to being interrupted.

“When it was quiet, I came looking for you again. Then I heard her getting mad at you and thought it best I wait for that conversation to conclude.”

“A wise decision.” Alazar said dryly. “You’re avoiding telling me whatever you’ve come all this way to tell me.”

“You need to go see your twin.”

I knew it. Alazar groaned.

“Why?”

“Because he and the valkyrie are having problems.”

“That is normal.”

“He’s not sleeping.” Rhyers countered.

“Also normal.”

“He’s avoiding WaterRose.”

“What?” Alazar’s gaze focused on the thinner man.

Avoiding WaterRose? He designed it, for God’s sake!

“Why?”

“Because they haven’t been getting on since Dorena was there.”

“Ah. Another woman in the castle can do that.”

“Elengard is always there.” Rhyers pointed out.

“True.” Alazar shrugged. “But she doesn’t look like Dorena.”

“True.” Rhyers frowned. Rubbing his chin thoughtfully. “Please go see him. I think he could use a bit of your wisdom.”

“Fine.” Alazar groaned. Letting his sword droop as he frowned. Shoulders visibly slumping.
