Fire On Fire
Chapter Two- Dead or dreaming?

A few drops of moisture fell on my face and my eyes slowly fluttered open, flooding my vision with bright white light. I hissed as I lifted my hand up to block the light. I was laying on my back.

I pushed myself off the ground as my eyes adjusted to the light, the air was knocked out of my lungs. I was in the middle of some kind of meadow.

Tall lush green trees towered over me, making me feel smaller than ever. I squinted up at them. This was a dream, this had to be some kind of dream. I recalled the voice...calling out to me...the cold icy grip on my wrist.

Instinctively my right hand lifted up to touch my wrist, it stung as if it were real. There was now a purple bruise forming on it, in the form of long fingers. Slowly I turned around and surveyed my surroundings. Nothing but trees and grass for as far as the eye could see.

Oh well, since this is just a dream, I might as well enjoy it. I decided on a random direction and started heading that way, taking in all the fake-dream-meadow had to offer.

I took in the sights, the smells and the sounds. I closed my eyes and breathed in as a realization struck me 'WAS I DEAD ?!'

My eyes popped open and panic flooded my heart.

A deep low chuckle came from behind me. I spun around ready for whatever dream-meadow/probable heaven (Or hell, can't say I was an awesome person) creep that was laughing like a weirdo.

There was no one behind me. Confused I spun around almost frantically as the laugh grew closer. Finally I found its source and stopped dead in my tracks, frozen.

In front of me a tall, muscular man was casually leaning on one of the trees. Balancing a dagger on the tip of his finger , yep that was normal, so so normal.

Everything about this whole dream was normal.

He stopped just long enough to look me in the eye, his eyes were blue...too blue almost like they were glowing . I slowly backed away as he stalked towards me. My heart was hammering in my chest. I turned my head from side to side looking for something-anything to protect myself with. He stalked closer and a chill ran down my spine.

Why was I so afraid if this was all just a dream...? a big knot settled at the base of my belly. In the back of my head I already knew the answer. The man's face contorted into something of rage as he scowled and hurled the knife at me.

Quickly I ducked barely missing it as it sliced through the flesh on my arm. Shocked, I stared at my gushing wound. Okay so definitely NOT a dream. I got up as fast as I could, scrambling to my feet. I started running through the meadow.

Fuck. I'm so Fucked.

I kept repeating how effed I was as I pushed myself harder, trying to run faster. Twigs and branches flew past me, scratching and scraping me. Close behind I could hear the sound of a deep growl.

WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT.

Instinctively, my legs started running faster. Like I had just had a shot of adrenaline, or maybe it was the crippling fear of Godzilla chasing me? I think it was the latter. I really do.
