Finding Rose
Family Reunion

Beep*

"Well.....that went exactly how I thought it would." Sam groaned.

"So, the guy who keeps records of packs is your dad?" Asked Rosalie

"Yes...he looked at Rose..I haven't really talked to him or my family in about a year. I mean...I make sure that they are alright and taken care of, but it's been a year since I've seen or spoken to them." He informed her.

"Why?" She asked.

"It's kind of a long story.....I'll tell you some day, but right now let's just celebrate the fact that we are able to talk with one another." He smiled at her.

She pondered as to why it was now possible to mind transfer with him, but deep down she knew it was because she felt safe, and her guard was fully down when it came to Sam. She wasn't sure if it was just towards him or if it will be the same effect towards other shifters. She would only find out if she came across another shifter. Being able to talk to Sam, only gave her more hope for change to come. She was tired of being a ghost.

"I'm sure you were able to hear what was said on the phone. He seems like a swell guy hu.? He chuckled.

"Well, I'm not to sure what happened between the two of you, but whatever happened, deep down I think he would want to see you." She told him.

He sat back down and rubbed his eyes before running his hands through his hair in frustration.

"He doesn't necessarily want to see me, but maybe we can make a surprise visit." He gestured.

She walked over to him and placed his hand on her head.

"You don't have to do anything your not comfortable with. I'm perfectly content with how things are going now." She reassured him.

"Rose...there is so much that you have missed and so much I want to show you and experience. If we can get you to shift...." He paused and looked at her..."I don't know how else to tell you, but that night when you fought those coyotes. I wanted to hold you so bad. I still want to hold you, and take your hand in mine."

She looked away as she felt insecure again. "What if he doesn't like what he sees." She thought.

"That's impossible." He replied.

She quickly looked at him surprised.

"Mind transfer.... remember?" He chuckled.

"S....sorry." She said embarrassed.

"Com'on, the rain stopped and I'm getting pretty hungry. How bout we go for a game of cat and mouse. Winner calls dibs on desert." He motioned towards the door.

"Okay." She grinned.

........................

"Sam! Let's go!" She yelled from downstairs.

"Okay I'ma coming I'ma coming." He yelled back down.

It had been a few days since Sam made the call to his family. Even though they weren't welcomed, he was on a mission to give Rosalie a second chance at life.

The plan was to drive through town and grab some supplies for an over nighter. Even though there were other shifters in town, the pack house itself was about an hour outside of town. They would drive to the outskirts with Rosalie hiding in the truck bed, and then he would shift and they would make there way towards pack territory on all fours.

Sam came running down the stairs and patted his pockets looking for his truck keys. He took a considerable amount of time looking for them, and couldn't remember where he placed them.

"Hmm...looks like we aren't going anywhe-."

He looked at Rose who already had them hanging from her canines. He narrowed his eyes and gently grabbed the keys from her.

"Deep down I hate you." He said sarcastically.

"Shut up..you love me aha." She said.

He turned around and felt his face get warm.

"Alright!" He sighed nervously. "Lets do this."

He grabbed his backpack, which would hold his clothes, some snacks and water for the trek. He also grabbed a blanket and tarp, which would conceal Rosalie in the bed of the truck. He didn't want to spark outrage or fear, if they happened to see a massive wolf catching a ride into town. Rosalie jumped in the back and got as comfortable as she could for the hour long journey.

Sam made sure to look back and check on her everytime he drove over a pothole or bump in the road. It only took 20 minutes from Sam's house before she could hear the ambient amount of traffic.

He was stopped at a red light, and made sure not to make it to obvious he was carrying precious cargo in the back.

"Are we there yet?" She asked.

"Seriously?" He chuckled.

"Ahahaha I saw it in a movie once." She replied.

"You know, you talking to me like this people are gonna think I'm crazy." He implied.

"Well aren't you? You have a massive wolf in the back and last I checked it ain't normal to have a pet wolf." She told him.

"Ya your right ahah." Sam looked out his window and noticed an old woman, just staring at him. He just nodded at her and waved. "How's it goin!?" He said towards her.

She just shook her head and walked away. He smirked and the light turned green.

The rest of the drive was silent and she could sense him starting to tense up. She poked her head out from the tarp and soon saw they were driving down a back country road. She couldn't hear any traffic near by so she felt comfortable enough to sit up the rest of the way, peering over the top of the truck. The wind was blowing strong against her fur, and she could smell the maples that lined the laneway. It had been months now that she's spent with Sam, and she soon realised from the colour change of the leaves how long it had been. Summer blew past so fast, she barely had time to notice. It wasn't to long after, Sam pulled the truck over to the side and pulled slightly into the tree line. She hopped out, as he made his way out the vehicle. He grabbed his backpack and placed it near the front of the truck.

"You ready?" He asked.

"Are you?" She replied. She could still sense that he was tense.

"Nope, but we're here and there's no going back now." He laughed nervously.

He started to unbutton his shirt and that's when Rosalie took the opportunity to look away. He then shifted, and peered around the front of his truck picking up his backpack.

"K, let's go." He motioned his head in the direction they were taking and lead the way.

She followed him every step of the way making sure to keep close. She had never ventured this way, as she always kept a far distance from other packs. Even though she was safe and trusted Sam, she wouldn't show the same interest in them. Even if they were family.

They walked just over an hour until they reached a creek. They made there way over the creek and ascended up a small ridge, which was lined with a fence. Sam lead her along the fence line, and found an opening where they could squeeze through. Once they made there way through the fence he looked back at her.

"Just stick close to me. We are at the back of the property and have a little further to go." He warned her.

She nodded in understanding. They came to a massive open field, that looked well maintained. Just acres and acres of well kept grass. She could smell the remnants of other wolves that made there way around the property. At the the far end of the property, she could see a intimidating building. It was big enough to house a few hundred shifter families. Looking at the breathtaking scene took her back to her life before her shift. She was lost in thought when she felt Sam nudge the side of her. She looked up at him.

"Your ok." He said. As if he could sense her uneasiness.

There eyes locked on each other was suddenly broken, when several wolves started charging them from the back of the house.

She stopped in place, and immediately bared down for a fight. Sam dropped his backpack and quickly put himself in front of her and let out a hurtling growl. There was seven wolves, that rushed towards them and spread out to circle the two trespassers. Rosalie let out a growl of her own and looked to each wolf that incased them. One wolf stood out amongst the rest. He was about the same size as Sam and had a menacing look on his face. His coat was pure black, and his eyes were just as piercing as his coat. He let out a body curdling growl, that made Rosalie question her intention. Her body wanted to submit but her mind didn't.

"He's an alpha." She said to herself.

She fought hard against her body, but it was like it had a mind of it's own. His gaze was solely on her, and she didn't like how it made her feel. She wasn't in control anymore and he knew it. Sam repositioned himself in front of her and made sure the alphas attention was focused on him.

Alpha didn't like it, and both were eyeing eachother down as if there lives depended on it. She could here Sam talking to the alpha, but she couldn't hear him.

"Back the fuck up!"

These were the words she could hear from Sam. She couldn't make what the others were saying but the alpha looked as if he was ready to rip Sam to shreds. Just as fast as it started it came to an end, as a loud casting whistle came from the back of the house.

"Locklin!" A man yelled.

He looked to be in his 50's and had salt and pepper hair. He had a groomed beard that matched his hair color and obviously was important, as he just got the attention of the alpha.

"Let them pass." He commanded.

Sam didn't drop his gaze as he walked past Locklin, and made his way to the man. Rosalie followed but kept her head down.

The man looked at Sam.

"Seems like a stupid thing to do by showing your face around here, but then again your were never one to take orders... son." He said sternly.

He was intimidating, even in his human form. He held out his arm telling them to go inside.

"Sam?" Rosalie said unsure.

"Hold on Rose." He said firmly.

She was worried. Sam was on edge, and she didn't know how to handle the situation. He was keeping his guard up. But why? It's his father she thought. She could feel the tension building in the room, and it was starting to choke her.

A young woman peered from around the corner, and approached Sam with a mad look on her face.

"You ass! I knew you couldn't stay away forever!" She grabbed him in a choke hold and proceeded to give Sam a noogie.

They tussled and Rose heard Sam talking to her.

"Mandy!" He yelled. "Ok OK, Mercy Mercy!"

She backed off laughing.

"Serves you right brother! You think you can just show up here after a year and not expect to get an ass whooping!" She said sternly.

"Enough!" Said the man.

He scratched the back of his head and removed his glasses before rubbing his eyes.

"What are you doing here son?" He asked.

Rosalie took the two in. They certainly looked like father and son, however this man was far more intimidating and you could feel a sense of power resonating from him. Sam looked at Rosalie, then looked back at his father.

"We need your help...."
