I heard a knock on the door and opened it to find my twin brother on the other side. He looked rough. ‘She was wearing your outfit.’ Was the first thing he said.

‘So? She needed clothes.’

‘Did something happen Ash?’

‘Are you kidding me? When she is drugged?’

‘I saw the way you kept staring at her last night on that dancefloor. You aren’t going to lie to me about it no more. You have feelings for the girl and you can’t deny it any longer.’ He was dead serious.

I turned my back on him and walked towards my window. I let a long pause rest between us but then said. ‘So what if I am?’

‘So what if you are?’ he yelled. ‘You know damn well that she can’t be mated to you!’

I huffed at that. I knew what he was referring too but I was still not accepting of that. Yes, she was human but I wasn’t planning on finding my mate anyway. I was not born to comply to any of these Paramore standards. Even though I made that vow to my family.

‘She’s… different.’ I admitted. ‘But I’m not interested Oak.’ I lied. ‘I’m intrigued but I will never go there. She’s just too young for me.’

‘Than try harder to act like it! You can’t mate with a human Asher. Remember your oath.’

He turned on his heel and walked out.

And all I could think about was.

Fuck that ridiculous oath.
