Feral Wolf
Chapter 9

I came out of my office late at night to see my mate sleeping on the floor, his back leaning against the wall and his head falling over his shoulder. I moved to lift his head up. His eyes flew open and met mine. Awkwardly, I retracted my hand but he grabbed onto it with surprisingly fast speed.

“Calliope.” He whispered.

“What were you doing out here?” I asked.

“I was waiting for you.” He mumbled and struggled to stand up.

I arched an eyebrow, “You didn’t have to.”

“I wanted to.” He mumbled as he stood up.

He said that but I knew why he had decided to wait for me outside my door. Despite the fact that he was working a lot better with his animal side, Brontes was still feral. He might’ve had Clara to keep him company but wolves are social animals. We desire a pack. We have strong emotional attachments, especially pups, and of course even though we are gentle animals we are still very vicious and aggressive. Brontes being feral meant he had all those characteristics but completely heightened—like a little pup just born.

“C’mon.” I urged as headed toward the bedroom. He followed behind me until we reached his door. I turned to him. “Don’t sleep on the floor, Brontes. Sleep on the bed.”

He looked at me strangely before nodding and heading inside. I walked to my room and exhaled at the familiar greeting of my room. I took off my shirt and was about to take off my pants when I heard a purring noise behind me. Immediately, I whipped around to see who it was. Brontes stood looking at me with his eyes a mixture of crimson mixed with the black. I moved to cover my exposed breasts in front of him.

“Why are you here?” I asked.

He walked over and immediately I was swept back up into his arms. I knew immediately what he was going to do and I used the palm of my hand to block his advancing mouth. He growled at the barrier and lapped at my palm. I frowned and struggled out of his embrace.

“Brontes, let me go.” I ordered.

When he didn’t listen to me I used my free arm to elbow him on the collarbone. He let out a noise but didn’t let me go. He took me to the bed where he and I fell on it. He was on top of me. He brought his lips down on mine and this time I couldn’t escape him. He held my hands above my head. His scent invaded my nostrils and his kiss lulled my mind into a limp state. He tilted his head so that his lips were trailing kisses down my neck. A betraying moan escaped my lips.

Control, Callie. I heard in my head.

Immediately, I moved so that I had the upper advantage. I flipped us over where I was straddling him. He growled and pushed his lower half against me. I can feel his arousal. My body was starting to fail me and if I didn’t stop it soon we were both going to regret our actions later. Immediately, I jumped off his body and ran into the bathroom, closing the door behind me and locking it. I exhaled as I slumped against the cold door and slumped to the ground, my head against the door in exhaustion.

It was quiet. My wolf senses told me he was still on the other side. I could still hear his erratic breathing. When it began to move back to normal, I heard his footsteps.

“Calliope.” He said against the door.

“Go to your room, Brontes.” I turned my head slightly.

He was quiet for a moment before he spoke up again, “I’m sorry.”

“I’m fine.” I said but my heart was still beating in an irregular beat.

“I couldn’t stop myself.” He said.

“I know, Brontes.” I replied back.

He was quiet for a moment before he left the room. I let out another long breath I was holding in before standing up and looking at myself in the mirror. My neck was ridden with small scratches of his light beard. I touched it gently before I took the rest of my clothes and hopped into the shower.

It was the next morning when I opened my door to see Brontes again sleeping outside my door in wolf form. I kneeled back down and touched his fur. His ears perked up and he raised his head to look at me. Instantly, I saw regret in his eyes. I gave him a soft smile.

“I’m fine, Brontes. I am not mad at you.” I whispered gently to him. “What are you doing here, crazy mate?”

He huffed and stood up. I followed him into a standing position. I turned to close the door behind me and was about to go downstairs for breakfast when he whined. I turned around to look at him. He shook his head.

“You want to go with me?” I asked. He bobbed his head. I gave him a lopsided grin. “Then hurry up and go get dressed. I will wait here for you.”

He bounded towards his room. A moment later he came out in a t-shirt and a pair of black sweats. While doing office work yesterday I had ordered for some spare clean clothes to be brought to his room. When he came up to me, we turned around and headed downstairs.

“Brontes, when you were with those land hunters did you ever learn to fight?” I asked as we made it to the step to the main floor.

“No.” He replied and scanned his surroundings. I saw the little movement and placed my hand on his arm to calm him down.

“Then today you will train with me.”
