Poem 24 - Flowers

Sometimes, things don’t seem right.

And it looks like there’s no reason to fight,

No light coming through the darkness,

All the time you cry, and you feel alone,

Nothing seems to matter,

Someone gave you glitter,

All you could do is blankly stare as you glare at them.

You leave the room,

Sit in the corner and sigh, asking yourself, “Why, just why?”

You don’t feel motivated,

As you change your location and leave outside,

You walk and walk away and away,

Thinking and thinking as you walk through the darkness,

You notice someone standing,

They take you by the hand, walking through the flower fields,

These flowers seem reasonable,

The person speaks:

“These flowers didn’t have it easy,

Sometimes they’re not getting enough care, people in the world only glare,

They are fading away and away; they no longer have hope,

And once they’re in their worst, someone comes through the darkness,

He shows them the light; suddenly, everything seems right.

You’re not alone; they were at the same place, they wanted the same space,

But they’ve realized, everything terrible is for something good,

They’ve been feeling bad,

These flowers have been very sad, nothing worked, and they got mad,

Until they realized, there’s so much in the world,

Their pain didn’t last forever,

They saw others feeling the same; they saw others crying the same,

They saw others cracking the same, and these flowers knew they’re not alone.

They’ve stopped feeling so bad,

Taking a look around, realizing all the things, all the people,

All the lovely moments, they’re what to live for.

And if these flowers, if they can wilt, and raise again,

If they realize they’re not a disgrace, so can you.

Someone came to these flowers,

Someone would give them water,

Someone would tell them they’re right,

These flowers didn’t feel good enough, yet someone showered them with love,

And someone said:” You’re not a disgrace, you can’t see your beauty,

You can’t see you’re worth it; you can’t see you can do it,

You want to grow, and you’re failing, though it is not your fault,

The weather around has not been kind,

The sun wouldn’t shine,

The clouds wouldn’t appear,

Weather cold enough, turning water to ice,

None of it is your fault; you did your best to grow,

And even if the weather has stopped you, you can try to grow again,

You will grow again, it might take you more tries,

What matters is that in the end, you will, you’re not hopeless,

Now you’ll have more time to grow and raise again,

Everything may have been against you now, but you will rise again,

You will not die, in the end, you’ll survive,

You’ll try to grow up and succeed.”

“Are you wondering where the flowers are now? They didn’t die,

They thought they wouldn’t make it,

Everything appeared to be against them, they were almost there but then weren’t,

They realized it might take them a longer time,

Weather wasn’t pleasing,

Someone gave them hope,

They’ll maybe have to try a few times, because of the weather and not enough care,

However, they’ll grow, and do you know why?”

“Why?” You ask, and the person answers:

“Because they did their best, only the weather stopped them from growing, however, they’ve already done their best, and that’s why in the end they made it. The weather made them try more than they wanted, which made them lose hope until someone came and showed the flowers that the weather wouldn’t stop them. It won’t make them fail because, in the end, it made them try again. The weather became a new obstacle for them to overcome. That doesn’t mean they aren’t worth it, or can’t do it. And if these flowers can do it, so can you. It wasn’t their fault, so it wasn’t yours. These flowers weren’t a disgrace, so aren’t you. They were worth it, and so are you. And I believe in you.”
