Fated to Love You Again (Shawn and Norah)
Chapter 220 Witnessing Her Happiness

Chapter 220 Witnessing Her Happiness

When they reached the second floor, Matthew forgot that he was still holding her hand.

Norah looked down and reminded him. "Mat..."

Matthew realized it and quickly let go. "Sorry."

But he seemed to still feel the warmth of her hand.

Her hand was so small and soft.

And her skin was more tender than he had imagined.

"My mom must have said a lot of things to you down there. She might have misunderstood something. Don't think too much," Matthew explained.

"Huh? What do you mean?"

Norah was puzzled. Wasn't she just here to visit him? What was there to misunderstand?

Matthew cleared his throat and said awkwardly, "Maybe... She misunderstood the situation and mistook you for my girlfriend."

"Ah..." Norah was shocked. "Did she?"

"Definitely," Matthew said.

"Should I go and explain to her? Or it would be awkward if your real girlfriend came to your house."

"It's fine," Matthew replied. "I don't have a girlfriend."

Norah thought for a moment and looked at Matthew. Her long eyelashes fluttering, she said, "You're such a catch. There must be so many girls courting you. When you do get a girlfriend, remember to buy me a coffee."

"Sure." Matthew nodded.

He looked at Norah with a complicated expression.

For a moment, he didn't know whether to feel happy or sad.

He was happy that he had hidden his feelings so well that she had never suspected a thing.

He was sad that she hadn't sensed them.

"Norah?" Matthew called out, his heart heavy.

"Hmm?"

"How are things between you and him? I was in such a hurry last time that I forgot to ask. He seemed to be badly injured too. How is his recovery going?" "Quite well."

Norah smiled at him gently and said, "And we've made up."

"Really?"

"Yes, we've untangled all our misunderstandings and opened our hearts to each other. When I was kidnapped, he came back from abroad just to save me. He paid a lot of money and even took a bullet for me.

"Now I'm sure that he loves me.

"I'm really happy now. I even told him my secret that he's the person I've liked for ten years. It delighted him so much that he danced like a child."

The smile on her face was constant.

It was gentle and faint, but it conveyed a sense of peace and contentment.

From that, Matthew could tell that she was really happy.

Only someone truly happy could give such a heartfelt smile.

"That's wonderful."

Matthew nodded, but his heart sank deeper.

After leaving her, he had been filled with regret, especially when she appeared in his dreams.

He had even wondered if things would have been different if he had stayed with her. Would he have had a chance?

But now, he felt a sense of relief.

She found her happiness, which was all that mattered.

It delighted him to see her happy.

"Why are we only talking about me? I came to see you. How is your recovery going? Does the wound still hurt?" "Forgot my profession? This is nothing to me, and I'm recovering well."

"That's good to hear."

Norah continued, "It's a relief to see you in good shape. By the way, how did you end up there that day?"

"The kidnapper was named Gage Brown. He was the lead to a major crime we had been handling. It was a complicated case hard to crack, and we saw him as a breach.

"Later we received news that he kidnapped someone for ransom at the top of the mountain. We set out but ended up alerting him. Not only did we fail to help you, but we put you in danger."

"It was not your fault. I don't blame you at all. Nothing is foolproof, and that was just an accident," Norah comforted him.

"Fortunately, you were fine, or I'd never forgive myself."

"Put your mind at ease. I'm really fine. See?" Norah moved her legs and arms. "I'm alive and kicking. I feel great."

They chatted for a while before Norah received a call from Shawn.

"Shawn."

"Is your visit over?"

"Almost," Norah replied.

"Come out then. I'm waiting outside the hospital."

"You're at the hospital?" Norah said in surprise. "But Mat has been discharged from the hospital. I'm at his home now."

"I see. I'll be right there."

Shawn then hung up the phone.

At the same time, he urged Anthony, "Drive. Be quick."

Shawn had already been on his way home when he changed his mind. He couldn't shake the feeling that it was too dangerous for his wife to visit a man who had feelings for her. It would be better if he kept watch.

So, he had instructed Anthony to turn the car around and head back to the hospital. Then they had waited outside.

Shawn couldn't feel relieved, not until his wife came out.

After all, the one with her now was Matthew.

He truly admired the O'flagen men for their excellence.

That was why he had to be more cautious.

After hanging up the phone, Norah turned to Matthew. "I'm relieved to know you're getting better. It's time for me to go home. Your mother asked me to have lunch with her. I'm afraid she's already preparing the meal."

"It's okay. I'll explain to her."

"Good."

They went downstairs together.

As soon as she saw them, Kaitlyn said, "Norah, come over and sit with me. I've had someone..."

Before she could finish her words, Matthew interrupted her. "Mom, Norah has something to attend to. She won't be able to stay for dinner. I'll eat with you."

"Ah, but I have..." Kaitlyn's smile faded a bit, and she looked disappointed.

Matthew walked over and whispered something to her. Her mood improved, and she regained her smile. "Alright then, let's have dinner together next time." "Thank you, Mrs. O'flagen."

"No worries."

As Matthew escorted Norah out, Kaitlyn couldn't help but sigh with reluctance.

Seeing through her thoughts, Janet peeled a grape and asked tactfully, "Mom, do you like that girl?"

"I do," Kaitlyn replied.

She seemed to be lost in thought, and her gaze became distant.

"I don't know if it's because I'm getting old or what, but the first time I saw her, I found her so quiet and elegant. I really like her.

"But the more I think about it, the more she reminds me of someone. They're so similar. I don't know if it's just my old eyes playing tricks on me or if my memory is failing me."

"I don't think you've ever met her before," Janet said.

"Well, this is the first time, so maybe I'm just misremembering. Janet, go and see her off on my behalf."

"Melisa, you stay here with Mom. I'll go out and take a look."

"Go ahead. I'll be here with Mom."

Janet went out in her high heels and saw a familiar car.

It was the same model as her car but had a different license plate number. There were only two of them in the entire city.

That was why she recognized it right away.
