Edith felt a little funny about his words, and retorted angrily, “Do you want me to turn a deaf ear to your words in the future? Fine. Uncle, you can go your own way and I’ll go mine. I won’t dare to trouble you to help me in the future. Who knows if you’ll forget it as soon as you turn around?” 

She deliberately said in a sarcastic tone, so angry that she forgot to cry. 

“Why are you waiting for me? Answer me!” Carlos asked coldly. His attitude was very tough and unquestionable. His chilly words reached Edith through the rain, making her shiver uncontrollably. 

She did not understand why Carlos asked her so openly after doing something wrong, and she was made to be the part who 

was wrong. 

She couldn’t help but snap. “That’s because I’m worried that you’ll be disappointed if you can’t see me when you come back! You can ignore this feeling, but I can’t. You’ll never know what it feels like to disappoint someone!” 

She roared bitterly. This was the reason why she had persisted until now. 

She didn’t want to disappoint others, nor did she want to taste the disappointment that others brought to her. It was too 

bitter. 

Thinking of the unbearable past and today’s grievances, she couldn’t help shedding tears. However, she stubbornly looked straight at him and didn’t show weakness at all. 

Her eyes were as red as a rabbit’s. 

Her words resounded in Carlos‘ heart like muffled thunder. All of a sudden, it was as if something had quietly sprouted within him. 

His lips curled into a satisfied smile. Although it was very faint, she could see it clearly. 

She began to wonder, “Is he actually smiling? 

Is he out of his mind? 

How could he still laugh after being shouted at like this?” 

“Put me down. I don’t need your pity. I won’t take your words seriously any more. It is just nonsense” 

She continued to struggle because she felt embarrassed in his arms. 

“Why is he holding me in his arms?” She asked herself. 

“If you dare to move again, I’ll throw you into the sea to feed the fish!” the man threatened. 

Hearing this, she curled her lips and said, “It’s as if you have a sea!” 

“You want to give it a try?” Carlos narrowed his eyes and said unkindly. His entire body exuded a terrifying aura. 

Seeing this, Edith felt even more aggrieved. 

She did not understand why he was so domineering! 

She was the one who had suffered for a whole day! 

“How can you be such a bastard? How dare you threaten me? Do you have any humanity…” She said with tears. 

“Stop crying, otherwise I’ll call Simon.” Carlos could not bear to hear her cry. Although her tears quickly dissipated in the rain, he could still capture how dazzling and bright she was as she shed tears. 

Such beautiful eyes shouldn’t be crying. 

As expected, his words worked. She sobbed helplessly, trying hard to suppress her tears. 

“Why are you like a child? Dare not to cry when hearing an adult’s name?” 

Although he had successfully stopped her tears, he still felt upset as he realized that she had stopped crying because of another man. 

In fact, Carlos planned to tell Edith his real identity today. But after the accident today, how could he tell her about it? 

He was afraid that she would not forgive him. With the identity of Uncle Carlos, he thought she would still be obedient. 

What a blunder! He didn’t expect the woman… to come back with Edward Jones. 

Edith threw him a fierce glare, thinking that he had the effrontery to say it. After all, Simon was her legal husband, and was so terrifying in the rumors. How could she not be afraid? 

She had waited for a whole day, but she could not get in touch with Simon, let alone see him face to face. She missed the chance this time, and also lost her courage, so she was afraid, of course. 

She turned her head angrily and ignored Carlos, but she still couldn’t help crying because she felt wronged. 

“Don’t cry. I don’t like girls crying! It’s not beautiful at all!” 

“Uncle, why don’t you just leave me alone on the side of the road? Why do you bother to see me?” she said in a huff. 

“Those gangsters are still behind us. Are you sure?” Carlos raised his eyebrows and said jokingly. His voice, though pleasant to hear, was full of bad intentions. Obviously, he was deliberately scaring her!
