Chapter 53 

Edith shrank her head. This lovely action did not escape Carlos‘ eyes, which made him smile imperceptibly. 

Carlos could tell Edith was suppressing her anger. 

He thought of what Sam had reported. It was natural that Edith had developed such a character in such a family. She looked docile, but she was rebellious. 

Carlos stared at Edith’s red face, on which the palm print was so clear that his heart ached slightly. 

Carlos thought. “Even I never hit her. How dare that old guy!” 

He couldn’t help reaching out to touch Edith’s face. Like a frightened rabbit, she took a step back with her eyes wide open in fear and looked at him in surprise. 

“Uncle Carlos?” Edith said in confusion. 

Carlos also realized that his actions were a little inappropriate. After all, they were… 

He naturally withdrew his hand and said, “I’ll ask Sam to send you back.” 

“I don’t want to go back yet. Can you do me a favor?” 

“Go ahead.” 

“Can you find me a makeup artist to cover up the handprint on my face? I want to attend this wedding. After all, that is my ex–fiancé 

Edith plucked up the courage to say such words. Her eyes were bright and fixed on Carlos for a moment, with a trace of stubbornness. 

Carlos raised his eyebrows slightly and hesitated for a moment before replying, “Alright, then go with me. I’ll see who dares to bully you.” 

“Thank you, Uncle Carlos, Edith said gratefully. 

She took the dress and shoes and went to put on makeup. Soon, she was done, and her face looked fine. If not for the pain, Edith would have suspected that she was dreaming. 

Edith changed her clothes. The pure white dress was inlaid with diamonds, and the fluffy white gauze was shining. Every time it swayed, there were gorgeous colorful reflected lights. 

Her hair was simply tied into a flower–shaped bun, and two strands of hair hung next to her temples. There were no bangs on her little face. She looked fresh and delicate. 

Edith took a deep breath and walked out in her high heels. 

Hearing the footsteps behind him, Carlos turned around to look. 

When Carlos saw Edith well–dressed, his eyes lit up. He didn’t expect that she would have such a dazzling moment. She was like an elf who had fallen into the human world. She looked at him carefully with worry in her big bright eyes. 

Edith lifted the hem of her dress and asked nervously, “How does it look? I designed this dress myself… 

Her soft voice charmed Carlos. 

Carlos reached out his hand without saying a word. Edith didn’t dare to resist and obediently walked over. She hesitated for a moment before placing her hand in his palm. 

Chapter 53 

Edith thought, “Carlos is so young. He must be only a few years older than me.” He was dressed in a suit and leather shoes, like a prince in a fairy tale. She held his hand nervously, afraid that she would make him lose face. Moreover, it seemed inappropriate for them to be so intimate, but she had no ability to refuse. 

Carlos had a domineering aura that Edith didn’t dare to resist him. 

This time, Carlos was not stingy with his praise and said truthfully, “You’re more beautiful than anyone else present.” 

Edith was pure, and her eyes were clear. 

The two of them walked hand in hand to the center of the venue and bumped into Johann and Vanessa, who were tugging at 

each other. 

Johann couldn’t go against his conscience, so he couldn’t ignore Edith. When he was toasting the guests, he suddenly put down his glass and walked over. Of course, Vanessa had to stop him, so this happened. 

Seeing Carlos coming with Carlos, Johann and Vanessa were both stunned.
