Chapter 21 

“Edith, you’re finally out. I’ve been waiting for you for a long time.” 

“What else do you want?” She took a step back coldly. 

“Dad and Johann won’t forgive me if they know that you work here. If you want to find a job, you can go to Dad’s company. Besides, isn’t your husband Lawson Jr.7 Can’t he support you?” 

“This is my business. What does it have to do with you? Get out of my way. I want to go home.” 

As she spoke, she was about to walk past Vanessa and leave. 

But a contemptuous sneer suddenly came from behind her. 

She was stunned and stopped. 

Behind her, Vanessa continued with a smile, “Edith, do you know? I hate your attitude the most. You’re cold and indifferent, as if you’re not interested in anything. You’re obviously bullied, but you’re still putting on airs. I just want to ask, how dare you?” 

“You’re not pretending anymore?” Edith turned around and stared at Vanessa. 

Did they finally fall out with each other? 

“Oh, do you know how you lost Johann? It’s because you don’t know how to pretend! Do you know? During this period of time, I deliberately caught a cold. Every night, I pretended to have a fever and hugged him tightly to sleep. I deliberately went to drink and found someone to bully me in order to let him save me. I wanted him to feel that he was omnipotent and give him the greatest sense of accomplishment.” 

“And what about you? What can you do? You can cook and design clothes by yourself. Your fingers have been pricked by needles, and you don’t need a man to comfort you. Edith sneered. “Huh? Man? He is just a thing I’ve used before.”

Vanessa was so angry that her face turned red. She wanted to scold her, but she didn’t know what to say. 

Seeing her being humiliated, Edith smiled. 

She knew Johann well. He was a dedicated and traditional man. 

He couldn’t accept premarital sex, so the two of them had always restrained themselves. However, Vanessa didn’t know about this. 

She had been dating Johann for four years. Even if she said that nothing had happened between them, no one would believe her. So, she might as well let Vanessa misunderstand and experience the feeling of sadness. 

“I heard that the Lawson family has the largest group in Caurtine, even the Davis family can’t compare with it. Do you think I should let my husband. make things difficult for the Meyer family? You can’t blame me for being heartless!” 

“Edith, what’s there to be proud of? Do you think that I don’t know about your situation. Lawson Jr. is a playboy, and he is involved in all kinds of gossip news. How can you live a good life after marriage like this?” 

“So what? I’m Mrs. Lawson now! Be polite to me in the future. If you continue to be so arrogant, don’t blame me for being rude!” 

The smile on her face gradually disappeared, and her voice was cold. 

Vanessa had never seen her like this before. She was so scared that she couldn’t speak.

Vanessa watched as Edith strutted past her with her head held high. No matter how unwilling she was, she didn’t know how to fight back 

“Damn it, what is there to be proud of for a woman who is despised by others?” 

She thought hatefully. 

Instead of going home, Edith took a detour to another bar to drink.

She couldn’t hold her liquor well. The more she drank, the heavier her head became. The sadness in her heart was magnified, but she became more and 

more sober. 

Then she went out of the bar and planned to enjoy the cold wind. 

She took out her mobile phone and dialed Johann’s number with trembling hands. The call was picked up immediately.
