Emma’s POV

I wrapped my arms around Alex, “No. This is not your fault, don’t even think that way.”

Her whole body was shaking, “Larus told me so. I should have been the one to take that blade, not him.”

Anger and the heartbreak from Alex flooded through me.

How dare he tell Alex this?! This isn’t her fault! Just because he is hurting doesn’t mean he can take it out on her!

As if my body was acting on its own, I released Alex and looked towards the door that led to Elijah’s room, “Stay here a minute. I am going to talk to Larus.”

Alex didn’t say anything but curled up with her wings around her as I opened the door. Larus was pacing the room. He looked up right as I closed the door behind me. He looked crazed as his eyes were bloodshot and he was breathing heavily, “If you have come to tell me everything will be okay, feel free to leave now.”

What the hell is wrong with him?

I crossed my arms and stared at him, “I am actually here because you are acting like a child. You are targeting the people who care about you just because you are hurting. Now I might be biased but whatever you did to Alex was uncalled for.”

He stopped his pacing and in a second he was standing only a few inches from me, causing me to lean onto the wall behind me. His wings were fully stretched out, making him look like he doubled in size, “Everything I said to her was well deserved. Now you might want to get out of here before you start something you can’t finish, now run along pathetic human.”

Elijah being gone really has affected him. I can handle it, he is just letting his emotions get to him. Two can play at this game.

I smirked, “I am not afraid of you Larus. You won’t lay a finger on me because you know if you do, Alex will never forgive you.”

He didn’t move and inch, “So what. I can easily take you and her out in a second. I have angel and evil blood in me.”

“Are you so sure of that, Larus?... I know I was the cause of all those angels just randomly leaving. What if I just do the same thing again? Like you said, you have angel blood in you.”

I have had theories about what happened earlier. That fact that I was the cause of it and that I could somehow unlock that power, scared me to death but I couldn’t let him think that. I was fighting an evil right now, not Larus.

His eyes flashed with realization for a second then glared at me, “You.. Why didn’t you call off the angels earlier?! You are the real one to blame for this!”

I felt anger run through me and I gritted my teeth, “Don’t. You. Dare. Pin. This. On. Me.”

Larus looked pissed then he put his hand to my neck and his tail confined my arms and legs. I panicked and felt even more anger as I let out a scream and just like before. But this time I stayed conscious.

Elijah’s POV

I felt like I was flying through the air. My powerful wings pushed against the wind as I got higher and higher into the pink tinted clouds.The sky was beautifully painted with oranges and purples as the day was turning into night. I just got through the cool breezy mist of the cloud when I felt something clawing at my heart. I stopped my flight and gripped at my chest.

What is this feeling? Is something wrong with Larus? Actually where is everyone?

Then a voice spoke out to me, “How funny? An evil that got into the heavens. You know you are not allowed in here. You are dead. There is no afterlife for your kind.”

I looked around for the source of the voice and tried speaking back but no words came out.

The voice laughed, “You really thought you could live on after your death. You sure are a stupid one. Though, I am surprised you made it here… Anyways, say goodbye evil. It is time to destroy your soul.”

NO! I am dead. It can’t be! I want my life back! Please!

Everything began crumbling around me. The darkness was slowly creeping towards me. The clouds and the sky slowly darken before fading into nothing. Then, I felt something pulling me towards a light. I was going to fight against it but something told me not to. With all the energy I had, I flew towards that light. When I finally reached I felt myself take in a giant breath.

I was back in my body, at least I think I was. I heard what sounded like a struggle happening beside me. People were talking but it was muffled. My eyelids were heavy, I tried my best to open them but nothing worked. Then, the voices became clearer. I heard Alexandra, “Em are you okay? I heard a scream. Why is Larus laying on the floor?”

Emma’s voice floated into my ears, “I-I d-don’t know. The power came back like it did before with the angels…”

Then I heard Larus’ lovely voice even though it sounded strained, it was music to my ears, “She threw me across the room like it was nothing.”

What is happening?

I tried my eyes again and this time I was successful but the world around me was blurry, “L-Lar-us.”

Everyone’s voice stopped and I felt a hand wrap around mine, “Y-You are awake! Thank Satan.”

Larus…

The world slowly cleared up and I looked around seeing Alexandra and Emma standing together with tears rolling down their cheeks. Larus was sitting next to me with his hand in mine, also crying. The room had everything thrown around like a tornado ran through it. I swallowed to try to help my dry throat, “W-What is going on?”

Larus laughed, “Well Emma here threw me across the room with some unexplainable force when she screamed... While you were out my angel side kind of took over and was fighting with my evil.”

I wrapped my arms around him and pulled into me, “It’s okay. Everything is going to be okay now, I am here.”

He savored the feeling out of him in my arms before letting go, “So… what is this force that Emma has? Did she get taught by yoda while I was gone or something?”

Just then a panicked Andya came rushing through the room, “Oh thank god you are awake and everyone is here, so this will be easier… I found out why Emma caused all the angels to retreat.”

Emma leaned into Alexandra’s side a bit more like that would protect her from whatever he was about to say, “W-What is wrong with me?”

Andya looked over at her, “Oh sweetie, nothing is wrong with you… While all of you guys were here I flew back to Emma’s cabin to find some sort of clue and I found it… Now, this is going to become a shock to you but I found an angel’s sword with the letter ‘G’ engraved in it. It was put in the emergency lock box your parents left you.”

Emma’s face paled, “G’ for my father’s name Gabe?”

He nodded, “I know it is crazy but I also found pictures and letters to your mother… Emma, your father was an angel. His full name was Gabriel and it appears he camouflaged himself much like I did in order to stay with his human mate, your mother.”

She shook her head, “I don’t understand. That can’t be possible. How come you never knew? You are an angel too.”

Larus jumped into the conversation, “It makes sense… I never recognised Andy as an angel when he was camouflaged. As for your father, angel’s don’t allow human mates because it will reveal their secret so they were probably after your mother just like they are after you now and your father camouflaged to protect her.”

Emma’s eyes widened, “Wiat… So are you saying I am half angel?!”

Andya nodded, “Yes, you are half angel, half human, and mated to an evil angel… So it is possible for you to be somewhat powerful. Larus is one of the strongest species on the planet with angel and evil blood in him... But, with you having angel and human blood in you plus being an evil’s mate… The world hasn’t seen anything like it. Which is also why you are such a threat to the angels. No one knows what you can do.”

Alex wrapped an arm around Emma, “Calm down, we will figure this out.”

Emma laughed, “I should be used to crazy shit by now but this really takes the cake… So am I a ticking time bomb or something now?”

Andya shook his head, “No you are not going to explode or anything. We just need to figure out your power. You can even be a big help to us when the angels attack again.”

She nodded, “Okay well I think it time for a walk. Glad to see you are awake, Elijah and Izzy should be in soon to check on you. Alex let’s go.”

Larus stood up and wrapped his arms around the both of them, “I am sorry for snapping at you guys and all the horrible stuff I said. I really wasn’t in the right state of mind.”

They both quickly hugged him back before stepping away. Emma nodded, “It’s okay Larus. We forgive you.”

With that they left and so did Andya a few seconds later, leaving me and Larus alone. I laughed, “Well if I knew I was going to wake up to this shit show, I would have stayed out a bit longer.”

Larus flopped down on the bed and got as close as possible to me, “If you would have stayed out for a second longer, Emma would have ripped me apart.”

I ran my fingers through his soft hair, “I missed you… You wouldn’t believe it but I actually made it into the heavens.”

He sat up a bit and stared at me, “How? We don’t get an afterlife. We aren’t human”

I shrugged, “I am actually not sure. I made it though and I do have to say it was beautiful. I was soaring through the clouds without a care in the world until someone spotted me. They tried to destroy my soul but something pulled me out of it and I woke up.”

“That is crazy. So I guess there is hope for us in the afterlife.”

“Yeah for a few seconds. Other than that Larus, death holds nothing for us. It’s just the end.”

He laid back against me, “While then you better be careful next time. No more taking angel blades to the chest.”

I nodded, “I know Larus. I just couldn’t let that happen to Alexandra. I love her like my own fledgling. Emma would have been ruined while Alexandra’s soul would be destroyed and casted into nothing but darkness. And not to mention the pain you would go through. I couldn’t let that happen.”

“I love you more than anything, Elijah. Just promise to not scare me like that again.”

I kissed the top of his head, “I love you too and I promise I will watch out next time. Trust me, it was not an experience I want to relive… So do you think pipsqueak will drop the demon nickname since I took a blade for her?”

Larus just laughed, “Not a chance.”
