50 The little sneak

“Should I go to this birthday party?” Ari questioned Timmy, who had his face buried in the bowl in which Ari had poured mashed broccoli, chicken and soft bones for Timmy to eat.

Timmy raised his face just an inch above the bowl before turning his head to the side. He looked at Ari and let out a whine before going back to eating. The only answer that Ari received from him was his back facing her face as if silently telling Ari to not disturb him when he was having his meal.

Ari sighed before standing up and walking over to the couch. She sat down and turned up her favourite murder mystery, but her attention was not on the scene that was playing on the screen. Instead, all her attention was on the impending birthday party that she had to attend, even if Ari did not want to.

After living with Madam Harlow for years, Ari knew what kind of woman her mother was. No matter how messy the relationships between the members of their family were, her mother liked presenting her family as a united and happy family in front of others.

She took great satisfaction in the fact that all her three kids were well settled, and Madam Harlow liked to bask in the envy and jealousy of her neighbours. So, even if Madam Harlow disliked Ari, she would want her

to attend the party no matter what.
