Elodie races through a thick forest, lost and terrified.

She searches for her parents, the famous dragon shifters. The King and Queen of Clan Aelon, her clan.

As she runs through the dark woods, she hears a roar.

She follows the roar, stumbling to the edge of a small clearing. At the center, her parents face a black dragon with silver eyes.

"No! Don't do this!" Her mother cries.

"Let us go, or our daughter will make you regret it!"

"I fear no girl-child, for it is already done." An enormous flame erupts from the dragon's mouth, scorching her parents.

"No! Mom, Dad!"

The dragon turns to glare at her, his silver eyes imprinting into her memory. She turns and runs for her life.
