I have been sitting next to Nancy for twenty minutes and she hasn’t woken up since, the sedation must have been really strong.

I take a good look at her and wonder what will become of her life, if it will ever be the same because I don’t think I would survive what she is going through right now.

Growing up I heard stories of evil forces, but it was nothing as close as what is happening right now and my biggest fear is that I might have to fight tooth and nail to save my son whilst destroying the relationship I have with my brother.

I feel a very bad energy in the room and my stomach turns, a few seconds later the door opens and in walks Besa with Caleb. They are low fully composed but none of them is wearing the kind face, I guess the masks have been dropped after all.

‘What did the doctor say?’ Besa asks

I am wondering where he is getting the courage to talk to me or the guts but I guess he is just putting up face because of where we are.

‘She is not pregnant anymore.’ I say with a deep sigh

‘What do you mean not pregnant any more?’

This time it’s Caleb that asks

‘The doctor claims she only has clots of blood inside her and those things are sucking the life out of her.’

His eyes turn blood shot.

‘What did you do to her? It was you who brought her here and it was you who called me, it could only be you who has hurt her!’ He screams

Weirdly I don’t flinch.

‘Why didn’t I see this side of you before Caleb? Why didn’t I see you for who you truly are?’

‘Wane you know how much they wanted these babies.’

‘And what makes you think I did something to them?’

‘Well now we know that you are not who you truly are.’

‘Have you forgotten that light and darkness can and will never mix? You tried to kill my child, what makes you think your babies would have survived?’ I ask this time looking at Caleb

‘Were they even natural children or you had to give up something to have them?’ I add

He doesn’t respond, tears start to run down his eyes.

‘Besa leave us.’ I say

He seems to hesitate so I look straight in his eyes and I sense the fear just before he scatters out in no time.

‘What exactly did you have to give up in order for you to have these children?’

‘It doesn’t matter anymore, I have lost way too much now I have to find a way of saving my wife.’

‘And that way is what? The darkness again?’

‘You have no right to judge me! You have no idea what we have had to go through.’

I scoff

‘Balance me here Caleb, I really want to know what led you into joining a cult. I want to know the first sacrifice you had to make just to be a part of them and what else you had had to lose along the way.’

‘And then what? So that you can use your newly acquired powers to try and kill me?’

Tears roll down my eyes as I feel every part of me break

‘How can you think this lowly of me? I am your little sister for crying out loud Caleb. You are my only family and me you. How can you honestly think that I want to ruin you when I love you with everything in me?’

‘I am not having this discussion with you.’ He says looking everywhere but my face.

‘Look at me.’

‘Caleb look at me!’ I demand tears running down my eyes

He turns his face and I see how stone cold it is.

‘What did you have to give up in order for you to become this monster? Isn’t there a part of you that just thought of how bad everything was and wanted to do better? Couldn’t you change your ways for me? For your wife?’ I ask tears falling really hard

‘You know I could have given up anything and everything for you.’ I cry some more

He looks straight in my eyes and starts enchanting something, I am at my weakest right now and I see he is using this moment to his advantage. He continues to enchant and I can feel my stomach turning continuously but I am too weak to do anything right now.

‘Make it stop, do what you want. I just want my brother back.’ I cry holding the chair I am seated on tightly

He continues to enchant and pull until Yakari leaves me and the last thing I see before passing out is seeing the face of his god smiling as he holds Yakari by one leg head facing down.
