Fall to Sanctuary

Several high speed trains accelerated along the line between Ishtall and Sanctuary as a squadron of fighter airships defended it, giant cannons focused on shooting down incoming meteors before they could hit either city.

Anya stood on the roof of the Sanctuary Laboratory building, watching the red planet in the skies above, she quickly dove to the side as an incoming chimera tried to grab her.

"Nice try!" Anya grinned, as she summoned a Wind Blade and shot the creature from the sky using a blast of wind. Wes burst out of a nearby doorway.

"Everyone from the labs is safe in the Undercity!" He yelled. Anya nodded as she ran inside. Wes quickly closed the door as a chimera approached. Across the city, in the maximum security prison, deep underground, in the highest security cell, Varla was sat, listening to the chaos above, she gazed over at her clone and smiled.

The Chimera tore into the basement floor, ripping the corridors apart in seconds, Varla stood up and walked towards the door.

"Finally, a release" Varla smiled, embracing the fact that finally she would no longer be trapped in this underground cell. The power died in the basement, which knocked any containment fields down. The chimera burst into the cell through the heavy steel door. Varla dodged the beasts and ran out into the corridor.

As she ran toward the elevator shaft, she could hear the chaos behind her, shortly followed by the screams of her clone. As she neared the elevator, she could hear the sound of the chimera approaching behind her.

She managed to get aboard the elevator just before the creature reached her. The doors slammed shut, but since the power was out, the elevator wouldn't move.

"Gods damn it" Varla frowned, she looked above her and saw an escape hatch, she climbed aboard the handrail that ran along the walls of the elevator and punched the emergency hatch open. As Varla climbed onto the roof of the elevator, she saw just how far down the facility was, there was a long ladder running up the side of the shaft for a kilometre or two.

Varla wasted no time in climbing, she would have freedom no matter the cost, after all she had a score to settle. She thought back to her battles and many debates with Roisin as she climbed, how Roisin had finally beaten her, and locked her away. Visiting her one last time.

Suddenly the lights along the elevator wall came on, Varla froze as she heard the low rumble below her. She turned her head to look down slowly to see the rapidly approaching elevator.

"Fu..." She began, before the elevator hit her, killing her instantly. Inside the elevator, the warden of the prison gazed at the ceiling, he was covered in the blood of the chimera, having dispatched them with east. The doors to the elevator slide open as it reached the top floor. The warden walked out into the lobby of the prison, to find it had been torn apart.

High above the skies, as Dreadnought slowly arrived, fighter airships defended it from the onslaught of the chimera, as the Dreadnought fired its energy cannons at the larger beasts, it flew over the city centre to where the entrance to the Undercity was now located.

Hundreds of people from Ishtall, Sanctuary and Haven all made their way down to the Undercity as the military might of Aodhan faced off against the chimera. Anya and Wes ran down through the entrance, past hundreds of soldiers and cannons, who would fight to defend the people of the city until the end.

In the Undercity, the staff of the labs worked to allocate everyone space to live as the deluge of people flooded in, the Undercity was deep enough underground to be safe until the end. Hundreds of people looked around panicked as the apocalypse roared on ahead above the ground.
