Chapter 10 She Has a New Target

Everyone thought that Renee married Quincy for money, but this time she refused his kindness and tried to prove herself.

In the president’s office, Quincy looked angry because Renee hung up on him. “This ungrateful woman!” he snapped.

Quincy then looked at his assistant Morris Dylan and said, “Give the draft to my mom.”

“Do you want me to tell her that it’s Ms. Braun’s work?”

“You can’t just ask me everything. You’re my assistant.”

Morris scratched his head and said, “But Ms. Braun is cleared to leave the job.”

“Who gave you the right to do that?”

“What?” Morris looked confused. Quincy gave him the right. Quincy should admit it.

“Try everything you can to keep her. You have five minutes.”

Morris felt bitter but could only hurry about it. Quincy and Renee divorced, but his attitude to her was more confusing.

Morris told the guy in charge of the internal system to withdraw the approval. Thankfully, Renee didn’t see it.

Renee ordered coffee for her colleagues in the General Affairs Department.

After all, she got an award of 16 thousand dollars.

At this time, two of Renee’s friends said something supportive in their group chat when they knew that Renee was divorced.

Their words put Renee in a better mood. She needed to move on after leaving Quincy.

It was almost time to get off work. There was a buzz in the company group chat. Someone sent a photo taken outside the company.

“I’ve heard that the best actor, Riley Hickman, is here. Gosh! He’s so much more handsome than on TV.”

“Is he still at the gate? Will I see him if I rush downstairs?”

Renee had a bad feeling when she read the messages. She switched on her phone and saw an unread message received 30 minutes ago. “Ree, I’ve come to pick you up from work. And I’ve got a surprise for you.”

Fright was more like it.

Renee texted back, “I’ll wait in the underground garage.”

Renee hurried to the garage and ran into Quincy out of the elevator.

They looked at each other. A black Bentley pulled over, waiting for Quincy.

A look of surprise crossed his face. “What is it? You only have a minute.”

He thought Renee was going to tell him that she had changed her mind.

Renee said in confusion, “What?”

Quincy looked at his watch impatiently. “30 seconds left. Enough! Don’t play hard to get. You’re bad at it.”

Quincy thought, “You were very decisive in the morning.

Why did you regret it?”

The silver roadster came to a screeching halt. A handsome man inside opened the car window and called out, “Ree, hop in.”

A moment of awkwardness followed.

“Excuse me, I was waiting for him, not you.”

Renee put on a polite smile and got in the roadster.

Quincy frowned and watched Renee leave in the fancy roadster. He said angrily, “Who is that guy?”

“A very popular actor.”

Morris passed his phone to Quincy. It showed Riley’s home page on social media. Riley was a big hit lately.

Quincy glanced at it. A new post from Riley popped up. “I’m so happy that Ree is single again! She finally wakes up and gets rid of that shitty guy! She’s in her prime and ready for a young and sweet guy! I’m going to throw her a party at Supremacy Club! I’ll book the whole place! See you guys there!”

Quincy’s face darkened when he read it.

He got in his car and said coldly, “Find out who the guy is to Renee, how they got to know each other, and who he is.”

Renee was ordinary. How could she know Riley? Why didn’t Quincy know about him?

Quincy thought, “Renee plays her game well.

She has a new target so soon.”
