Embry’s POV.

“You picked a side now stay there. At this point you don’t mean anything to me. You’re dead to me,”

“Goodbye, Embry! I never want to see you again,” my cousin said to me. She’s supposed to be my best friend! My sister! My other half... She is my everything. How could she say that too me? How could she?

Words can’t explain what she means to me. Blood couldn’t make us closer... or, so I thought. Now I’m not so sure. My heart hurts. My mind, body, and soul is under the influence of pain. It hurts. The very moment that Celine was no longer in sight, a waterfall of tears began to drip down my face.

I started to cry a river down onto the forest floor and my mate allowed me to do so in peace. All I can do is cry. In actual fact, a minute or so has passed and I’m still crying now.

My heart feels like it’s being ripped out of my chest. My entire body still aches. I feel so weak in the knees. Extremely weak, I can barely stand. I’m losing control of my own body, going down but Cyrus is here to break my fall. He catches me, proving to be my rock and the glue that holds me together.

I feel so broken, so very very lost. I don’t know what to do. Luckily for me, Cyrus seems to. He holds me in place and even utilizes one of his magical hands to wipe my tears away.

Making it his point to show me that I’m not in this alone. He’s here, lending me a helping hand and also giving me the strength that I need to get through this. I’m so grateful. Only Goddess knows how much I need it. How much I need him...

I have never been so grateful. Cyrus has no idea how much him being here right now means to me. As of right now I need him more than I need air to breathe. Especially, as I try to process the fact that I’m officially considered to be a lone wolf. A rogue.

I have no pack and my family have disowned me. I know this because if Celine couldn’t accept or understand my union no one in my family will. So, yes! My family have disowned me and for the life of me I can’t understand why. My father once said to me that family means everything. We’re supposed to stick together no matter what. So why doesn’t that rule apply to me? I’m a part of the family. Right?

Even though, I happened to be paired with a vampire. Why can’t they accept the gift that our Goddess sent to me? I guess it doesn’t matter anymore.

At this point, Cyrus is all I have. It’s just us and even though I love him that one thought doesn’t sit well with me. I want all of us to be one big happy family. I truly believe that we can all live in peace. In my eyes, Cyrus and my union is proof that our species can co exist without hate.

Our union can change everything. All everyone has to do is leave the past in the past, and then we all shall see better days.

Cyrus rest his chin on top of my head as I bury my face into the crook of his neck and take in a deep whiff of his addictive scent.

The smell of him is calming to my soul. It’s therapeutic, easing the raging sea of emotions that are washing over me. Right now, I need him here on me. He is my air. No substitutes, he’s the one and only person that can calm me.

The chill from the winters wind seeps into my pores as Cyrus lifts me up off the ground and into the warm security of his arms. Then, he places my frame directly onto his chest. It’s so warm inside his arms. His body heat is like a blanket against my tiny body, even though the cold doesn’t bother me but still... It still feels good. His touch alone can take away the stress inside my body that’s draining me.

I allow my head to rest on his chest acting as if his muscular frame is my pillow.

He’s the best pillow ever! My racing heartbeat starts to slow down as he carries me out of the forest.

My sensitive ears detect a lot of commotion as we draw closer towards the house but I’m too tired to lift my head and I really don’t care to see what’s going on anyway.

At this point, I’m too exhausted. I just want to sleep and give my mind sometime to relax..... Recuperate. I have no worries anyway.

As longs as Cyrus has me I know that I’m safe. He will never allow anything to happen to me or my wolf, for that I’m certain. He’s exceeds the expectation of being a protector, being inside his arms feels like home.

My eyelids flutter shut I’m convinced. Cyrus’ body is the finest bed that the world has to offer.

Cyrus’s POV.

Embry falls to sleep in the safe security of my arms as I walk back to my estate. She’s emotional and mentally drained. I hate it. I hate that’s she going through this. I hate that’s she going through this because of her union to me.

Embry deserves so much better.

She deserves to have the mating recital of her dreams with all the packs presents, standing around a bonfire fire, eating, dancing and drinking that shitty ass wolf-ale.

Embry deserves to smile brighter than the desert sun as her people howl for joy while she walks down the aisle dressed in all sheer to recite her values, be marked by her wolf mate, and then mated in front of the entire pack while all the dogs wolf whistle. I know that the traditional wolf ritual is what Embry wants.

That’s what would make her happy and that’s the one thing that I can’t give her. I can’t help her receive the approval of her people and family. Well technically, I’m the King of this continent so I can force them to accept us. I can’t force them to do what I want them to do but that’s not the solution because Embry will never accept it.

So, I’m back to square one. I can’t give get what she truly wants.

That one thought is killing me softly. I must find away to make things right… The right way for Embry’s sake. No! I will make this right, if it’s the last thing that I do. I’ll make sure that my beloved pack accepts her back, even if that means giving up my life in exchange for her happiness. I don’t mind waiting for our next lives to share our time together.

In fact, I’ll wait an eternity amount of time for Embry as long as she’s there to meet me at the end of them. She more than worth the wait.

Then, she would be able to find a second chance mate to have her dreamed union and share the perfect life that she deserves.

I’ll do it for her, if that’s what it takes to make her happy, no matter how sick to my stomach it makes me.

“No! You won’t,” speaks out Embrys wolf. “There is no second chance mate for us. All we want is you. There are no substitutes, you are our one and only. Your it for us, Cyrus,”

“Shh, little Sunshine,” I lean down to whisper into Embry’s ear. “You need to get some rest too,”

“But Cyrus,”

“There are no, but’s,” I tell her. “We have a long journey ahead of us. I need you to get some rest, please,”

“Okay,” she submits, making me smile to myself like a little lunatic. She’s so perfect. Embry human side and her wolf creates the balance that I need to soften me up but still makes her more than capable of ruling as the Queen that I need. Sweet and Salty, just like I like it. They truly were created just for me.

“And don’t you ever forget it,” says Embry wolf while releasing a wolfish yearn. I chuckle.

A second later goes by before Embry’s wolf is also fast asleep. “I won’t little miss Sunshine. I will never forget how much either of you mean to me,” I tell her before placing a kiss down onto her forehead.

My security detail are roaming all over the place as I get closer towards the house. During, Embry’s and Celine fight my scouts reported that the Northern Pack has been spotted in this area, and I believe that they are heading in the direction of Nicklaus estate which happens to be none of my concern.

I have my own issues to deal with. I have my own beloved to attend to. Nicklaus is dead too me. I meant that. The loyalty I once felt for him is replaced with nothing but the burden of broken promises and regretfully memorizes. His betrayal cuts that deep.

He was supposed to be my brother but now were nothing but enemies.

“Sire,” approaches Gutter the very moment that I walk into the estate. His eyes are locked onto Embry. “How is she?”

“She’s going to be okay,” I tell him with a slight growl.

My monster doesn’t like how concerned Gutter sounds about our beloved, even though we know that he means no harm. He can’t help the need he feels to protect her but still.

She mines... “You were right,” he gets straight to the point without breaking eye contact from my beloved. “The wolves are heading in the direction of King Nicklaus estate. We can delay our travels and send some soldiers to lend a helping hand. They should be there by night fall,”

“No!” growls my monster, as I walk up the staircase. That gains Gutters attention. His eyes travel from Embry and land onto my red ones.“Nicklaus can handle himself,”

“But, Sire,”

“I said no,” my monster snaps! “We aren’t delaying shit. I expect to land in Washington no later than tomorrows moon. We shall leave when the moon rises,” I advise. “Embry needs some rest before our departure,”

“Yes! Sire,” hesitantly responds Gutter. He doesn’t understand and I can’t expect him to. Gutter has been on my team for a while. He’s used to coming to Nicklaus aid, just like how Nicklaus men are used to coming to my aide. Most of our men, have formed bonds of their own among each other. Some of them even consider each other to be family. So, I understand his inner battle but times has changed.

Celine was right about one thing. In this day in time one must pick a side and stay there. You can only be on one team. There is no back and forth.

“Gutter,” calls out my monster as I reach the top of the staircase.

“Yes,” he answers. He’s still on the second level, looking rather stunned.

“Who do your loyalty lie with,” I ask him straight up.

Gutter doesn’t respond right away. He seems to be lost in his own thoughts, attempting to understand my question. A moment os silence passes between the two us before his eyes are pinned back onto my sleeping beauty beloved. Then, a sudden look of determination braces his face.

“My loyalty lies where it has always lied, sire,” he announces.“With you and Queen Embry,”

I don’t respond. There is no need to. I can sense that he’s telling truth. We have his undying loyalty. With that thought, I turn around and head to our chambers.

Cyrus’s POV.

The moon hangs high in the sky by the time that I wake back up. Judging by the moon, it’s still an early night. Embry still lies sleeping peacefully beside me.

I run the back of my knuckles over her porcelain skin and place a dozen of gentle kisses down onto her forehead. Then, I run my fingers through her remarkably rich dark brown hair which flows all the way down her back and sits perfectly on top of her waist.

I’m in a daze, just watching her cushy soft pink lips parts slightly and my lips curve into a smirk as my sensitive ears picks up on her little snores. She’s so beautiful it hurts to look at her.

I’m memorized by every inch of her face, every inch of her beauty sends an electricity energy to shock my heart. I can’t believe that a creature as fantastically gorgeous as Embry actually exists on this universe designed to walk beside me. How did I get so lucky?

A second goes by before I reluctantly leave the warmth of Embry and my bed.

I need to get ready. We must leave shortly, so I can take Embry’s to the safety of my childhood home before I go deal with this summons. There is no way that I’m going to allow her to go with me and I don’t feel comfortable leaving her with just anybody.

My aunt Katherine is the only soul on this earthly plane besides myself that I can truly trust with Embry’s life. She won’t allow any harm come to her during my trip, for that I’m sure of.

I take a quick shower and clean up. Once done, I run Embry a hot bath, filling it with Wild flowers and a drop of some of my wild berry bath milk for when I her wake up.

She was injured this afternoon during her brief dispute with her cousin I cleaned her wound and gave her some of my blood before I fell asleep, but she still needs to soak. It will be good for her muscles and the aroma will help her relax.

My mind starts to wonder as I prepare her bath, just thinking about everything that has transpired.

Ever since I accepted Embry so many bonds have been broken. I have lost a man that I called my brother just like how she has lost a woman that she called her sister. The both of our situations are fucked up, but I’m worried about Embry’s situation the most.

I can live without my supposed to be brother but, can Embry live without her supposed to be sister. Will she be able to accept the fact that we are all each other has at this point? I hope so.

I mean, if Embry choices them I really will allow her to go. I mean it! Embry is the type of girl that deserves a happy ending. She’s the strongest women I know, like seriously. She’s been through so much and still has been able to stay true to herself, without allowing others to change her train of thoughts or sway her mind in a different direction, if that’s not true strength I don’t know what is.

Embry’s the type of girl who has been dipped into a pool of purity. An angel that dares to walk alongside of demons.

I finally understand why that girl Kaya called her a special wolf. She is special, truth to be told none of us deserve to be in her presence. It’s a blessing just to lay eyes on her.

No wonder why her father has been training her since birth, Embry truly is meant to do great things. Now, that I’m thinking about it that’s probably why her people also attempted to place her in chains.

They must have discovered a while ago, like I have now discovered that she is too good for this world. Shit like that scares people, especially wolves. They are the type of species that don’t accept what they can’t understand, like the most of us.

From what I’ve evaluated so far, Embry’s entire train of thought goes against everything a typical werewolf stand’s for. That would also explain why her cousin didn’t seem tobe that shocked. She was a little hurt, but she wasn’t shocked by our union, not even in the slightest way.

Now, that I’m thinking about it I can bet my bottom dollar that Embry was most likely trying to persuade her species to seek peace instead of raging a violent war. I know she was and to a werewolf that can be some freighting shit.

A non-violent wolf, who is powerful enough to stand on her own two feet. Without a pack! Yes, now it all adds up. Our union is more than destined for us. It’s destined to change lives. I know one thing, it has changed my life completely.

I dip my hands into the bath water just to make sure that the temperature is right as my ears lock onto Embry movement, rolling out the bed. Great! She’s up just in time.

“Cyrus,” calls out my beloved sleepily.

“I’m in here my love,” I answer her call, while flickering water off my fingers back into the tub.

“What’s that smell?” she questions, popping her head into the door, “It smells like me,”

I chuckle. She’s right. My favorite wild berry bath milk aroma smells very similar to my beloved nature wildflower scent. That’s most likely why it was always my favorite bath necessity. The scent has always been extremely calming to me.

“Come my love, it’s time to bathe. We have to leave fairly soon.”

“Where are we going? ” She questions while stepping into the bathroom room still yearning. She looks adorable when she wakes up. How did I get so lucky? I can’t ask myself that question enough.

A second later, Embry nonchalantly slips out of my boxer and pulls my white t-shirt up over top of her head. I freeze. The raw and intense beauty of her nakedness takes away my ability to think.

“Come dive in,” seductively growls out Embry with bright golden eyes.

Oh, fuck! My dick bounces like a bunny inside my tight confided pants as Embry’s hands goes flying over top of her mouth and her hazel eyes enlarge. Her entire face now appears to be dipped into a bucket of pink paint.

“Oh, my Goddess!” she says in alarm.“She didn’t just say that out loud,”

Quicker than Embry’s heart can beat, I’m in front of her. “Yes! She did.” I confess. My mouth stretches to a big ole grin.

“I think your wolf is ready for me,”

“Yes! I am,” Embry wolf answers for herself inside my head and I can’t help but to grin harder.

Meanwhile, my little miss Sunshine is still frozen in place, looking absolutely mortified.

“It’s okay, baby. There is no need to be shy,” I cheekily respond and just like that Embry damn near faints from embarrassment.

“Um.. I’m .. Um,” she says, trying her hardest to form a sentence, which makes me damn near die from laughter myself. She really is utterly adorable.

Embry’s POV.

An hour has passed since I nearly died from embarrassment back in the bathroom. Oh, my goddess! I still can’t believe that my wolf said that.

What the heck is going on between my wolf and my mate anyway? I swear. I’m starting to feel like the third wheel inside of this three-way relationship.

A couple of days ago, they couldn’t stand each other but now the both of them are acting like they are ready to hump each other legs. It’s so weird.

“Stop being so dramatic, Embry,” growls my wolf. “We are one,”

Yeah, right! I think to myself without responding out loud. There is no need to. She already heard me.

“I never met a she-wolf jealous of her self,” she says.

“Oh, be quiet! ” I tell her off, before officially shutting down our communication line. Yes! I learned to do that too. I can finally think in peace. Don’t ask me how? I just woke up like this.

I believe it’s because of the bond that I now share with Cyrus. I think the union has made me stronger, but I don’t know. It’s just a theory.

“Come on death trap,” says Gutter butter, while walking into the kitchen. I’m currently sitting on one of the bar stools eating some tasty marshmallow treats that Ny made before she left.

Cyrus told me that she was transported to another safe house of his for safety precautions while we were asleep, which was really disappointing to me. I didn’t even have a chance to say goodbye.

Not to mention the fact, that I know that her safety is in jeopardy because of me. I’m the reason that she had to leave her home.

The one place that she seemed to be at peace in, all because of the confrontation with my cousin. That’s no fair to her. I hope that she’s stationed somewhere that she actually likes.

“Hello, Death trap!” Gutter butter says again.“Are you there, Hello.. Hello.. Hello....from the other side,”

I release a heavy sigh. He can be annoying sometimes... and bossy. Very, bossy. Actually, he’s starting to remind me of my brother, Ruq. “I’m coming,” I say, while sliding out of my seat.

“Hey, don’t use that tone with me, young lady,” he deadpans, officially taking the cake. I think Gutter Butter and Ruq just might be soul mates but I think it maybe best to keep that thought to myself.

Gutter Butter urgently takes off the very moment we are outside, but not before he sternly stated several times that I’m not to leave this spot. Yup! It’s official. Gutter Butter and Ruq are soul mates.

I spend the next minute doing absolutely nothing, just standing in place while watching all the toy soldiers running around in front of the house acting as if they are preparing for battle. The mood is that sober.

No one is saying it but I know that my uncles pack is not that far away from here. I can feel them. They are much closure than everyone thinks. A war is on the horizon. I close my eyes and ears, creating a brief moment of silence as I silently pray for them all... Wolves and vampires alike, all of their lives are equally important too me.

I even decide to pray for Celine. I miss her already. Hopefully, one day we can put are differences aside and finally become one big happy family.

Out of no where time stops and my great sense of detail draws another way.

Cyrus, my mate! I can sense him before I see or hear him. It’s sort of like an invisible bumble bee constantly buzzing in my ear, trying its best to get my attention and forcing me to turn around to face him.

So I do and as expected he’s standing to the left side of me directly in front of another jet black sports car.

My heart starts to do back flicks inside my chest. Wow! He’s so unruly handsome and the way that his clothes fits his body makes it ten times harder to look away.

He’s wearing a pair of dark wash jeans with a black v-neck t-shirt that is glued to his body, black biker boots and a black leather jacket. We’re dressed the same, which should be expected when you consider the fact that I’m wearing his clothing as per usual but right now I don’t have it in me to complain.

I’m completely breathless. The sight of my mate still takes my breath away. He’s such a God of a man or more like the Devil himself standing right here in front of me.

Cyrus is that inhumanly gorgeous. He’s so gorgeous that I can’t help but to say freak repenting. I just want to dive inside of his sin. Oh, my Goddess! I didn’t just think that. Goddess, please don’t strike me down.

See, I told you! He’s the devil. He’s disguised him self as the most handsome man in the world just, so he can sway me in the wrong direction and snatch my soul away from my body. The devil.

“Hello Sunshine,” he flirts with a smirk and even has the nerve to wink. “Are you ready?”

No. I can’t even think properly. Why does he have to be so got darn good-looking? So heartbreakingly hot.

Cyrus smirk deepens as if he can read my thoughts before he decides to throw me a set of keys... or more like a key fob. “Come on Sunshine you are driving,”

“Hell yeah! I’m ready to ride you,” my wolf approvingly growls inside of my head. Oh, wait! I thought I blocked her out. Where did she come from?

“Your guard was down the moment your eyes locked with my mate,” she teases me. “And since you wanted to block me out in the first place I took it upon myself to grant him a front row seat inside our head.”

“You what?”

“Embry, darling. We have to go,” our mate interrupts us. “Come on Sunshine,” he says, while sliding into the passenger seat and then closing the door.

“Umm, but I don’t know how to drive,” I whisper, feeling rather embarrassed. Can you blame me? I’m over one hundred years old..

My people should have been taught me how to drive. I used to complain about it when I was younger because my siblings could drive and I couldn’t but my dad set me straight.

“Don’t worry about that Sunshine,” says my mate as he rolls the window down.“I’m going to teach you. I’ll teach you how to ride,” he smiles a real genuine smile and for some strange reason my treasure box feels extremely moist. Actually, I think I might have just wet myself.

Can somebody tell me why his words just made me wet?

“I can,” once again growls out my wolf. “That’s because were going for a ride, finally,”

Hey, Love Bugs! I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I know that it's lacking action but that's the point. The two of them have been through so much they deserved some down time.
