Chapter 103 

Naomi took a bite of food and shrugged. “Chloe isn’t dumb. She wouldn’t do something that stupid.” 

It took one to know one. Chloe wasn’t the type to resort to sneaky moves. 

That way, nobody could hold anything against her, and she would always be able to play the role of the 

innocent one. 

Brendan remained silent. He walked over to the dining table and sat down next to Naomi. 

Since she had been a child, Naomi had never liked chili powder or vegetables. But those ingredients were 

always in the food sold outside. 

Seeing Naomi avoiding some of her food because of that, Brendan poured her a cup of water and took 

the vegetables 

“If the taste still lingers, you could rinse it away with water.” 

Naomi smiled at Brendan’s gesture. “You’re so caring. You even remember the smallest details.” 

Brendan said flatly, “I’ve known you for 23 years. 

Naomi’s smile widened and she playfully nudged him under the table with her foot. “I won’t make a fool out of you tonight. I’ll make sure you enjoy it.” 

Brendan didn’t buy it. “Cut the crap.” 

She had strung him along just to have him hanging. He wouldn’t trust her about that again. She could say goodbye to being a mother too. 

“I’m not pulling your leg,” Naomi said. “I still want to be a mom.” 

Brendan huffed. “Eat your food.” 

Naomi persisted, “I’ve got stuff to do this afternoon. I’ll head back to the law firm later, Get someone to handle those expense reports for me.” 

Brendan chuckled. “After beating around the bush, you’re finally getting to the point.” 

“You’re worried I’ll accept Maximus‘ case. Then, I’ll just not do it.” Naomi pouted. 

Brendan had relented last night. Besides, considering what Jason had told her earlier in the morning, Naomi figured she should give Brendan some credit. 

Only after Naomi volunteered not to take Maximus‘ case did Brendan’s expression soften. He scooped up a piece of beef she liked and plopped it into her bowl. 

Meanwhile, Henry was about to leave his villa and head to the company when Elaine showed up. 

“Henry,” Elaine called out.

Henry’s expression darkened. “Mom, what brings you here?” 

Elaine approached him. “Didn’t you say you had Lily and those two kids in your hands? Where have your 

hidden them?” 

After a few days of thinking about it, Elaine had not been able to shake off the matter. Hence, she had come to seek answers, even though Henry had told her not to fret over it. 

Henry muttered flatly, “Mom, why are you asking about this?” 

Elaine snapped, “I’ve been thinking about it for days, and I can’t let it go. I want to see Lily and let off 

some steam.” 

Elaine had held nothing back in front of her son, and he had the power to make Lily pay.

Elaine’s eyes welled up instantly. “Henry, I’ve thought of Lily as a sister and always had her back. But she betrayed me. I can’t just swallow this pill.
