Blind date turned proposal (Josie and Dexter)
Chapter 1303 Paying Respects To Henry

Once the child left, Josie breathed a sigh of relief and faced Cassidy. "If I remember correctly, Wyatt ended up in the hospital because of Arnold."

"You think I don't know? He went to see Arnold all because of you!" Cassidy frowned, filled with pity. "He was the most talented young man in our faction. Because of you, everything was ruined. I didn't expect you to dare to come back."

The blunt malice and misunderstanding took Josie by surprise.

"Cassidy," she called out, her voice tinged with disdain, "Honestly, if you're going to misunderstand things this way, then I really wish Wyatt would wake up and tell you himself what really happened."

With that, Josie had no intention of arguing further and attempted to walk past Cassidy.

But Cassidy reached out to stop her. "You won't admit that it was your fault?"

Josie raised an eyebrow. "If we must discuss faults, then the one inside is probably compounding the error. Do you dare confront him?"

It was clear who "the one inside" referred to.

Cassidy frowned. "Hey!"

"It seems you don't dare. Since you don't, then stop blaming me."

Over the years, Josie had learned the best skill was to drive others crazy rather than exhaust herself internally.

Though Cassidy was older, within the Russell family, there was a strict hierarchy. Dexter's position was one she couldn't challenge.

Suddenly, Cassidy sneered. "With such confidence, one might think you're still Dexter's wife. Do you really think you can do anything just because you have a child?"

Over the past couple of years, Dexter had grown accustomed to a carefree lifestyle and seldom returned to the Russell Mansion However, this time he came back with a child who bore a striking resemblance to him, leaving everyone taken aback. Amidst the speculation, news spread that the Olsen family's true daughter, Josie, had returned.

And so, everyone understood.

This child could very possibly be theirs.

"Cassidy." Josie crossed her arms and sighed lightly. "I'm not interested in your Russell family's so-called foundations. I have emotional ties to Dexter's grandfather, and I have a conscience. Even without Dexter, I would still come back to pay my respects to him."

This remark also reminded Cassidy that she had many connections to the Russell family, not just Dexter.

"Besides, who told you that being divorced means we can't be friends? You don't have to be so guarded, especially since you don't even have the right to fight for power."

Josie spoke with confidence. In her peripheral vision, she saw people leaving the hall. It seemed the gathering was coming to an end.

She didn't want to linger as that would be too conspicuous. After saying that, she turned and left, entering a nearby room.

Cassidy was left seething with anger.

If her memory served her right, the room adjacent to the main hall was the Russell family's ancestral hall.

The candles were lit, and someone was standing guard there.

Josie composed her expression, showing respect to the attendant, clasping her hands together. "I'm Josie Warren. I've come to pay my respects to Old Mr. Russell."

The attendant was initially on guard, but upon recognizing her face, he said, "Ms. Warren, please come in."

He handed her three stalks of flowers. "When Old Mr. Russell was alive, he often mentioned your name. He must be happy to see you after so many years."

Josie smiled wistfully. If there was anyone she felt she had let down in the past two years, it was Henry.

Henry's memorial tablet was in the center.

Josie offered the three stalks of flowers and gave her respect.

"I'm here to visit you, Old Mr. Russell. I'm sorry."
