Chapter 21 Are You Qualified?

Layla didn’t care about the pain in her body. She supported the ground with her hands and stood up. Then, she staggered toward the door.

She was going to chase Zachary

Zachary was excited. He went out so late. If something happened to him, Zachary didn’t know what to do. Zachary was the only motivation for her to persevere.

After she opened the door, she chased out without changing her slippers.

She rushed to the second floor in one breath. Wren stopped closing the door. “Layla, you are back. I saw Zachary running out.”

Grandma Wren, thank you for your concern. I’m back.” Layla paused. “I’m going to chase Zachary now.”

With that, Layla continued to run downstairs.

There came the sound of the engine of a motorcycle downstairs.

Layla panicked and rushed down three stairs. She lost her footing and rolled down the stairs. She didn’t realize that her skin was scratched and bleeding

Zachary stood up and chased in the direction of the sound of the motorcycle. Zachary had got on the motorcycle.

Layla ran forward and stood in front of Zachary

You don’t have to worry about where I’m going.Zachary sat on the motorcycle and put on his helmet. He stepped on the accelerator and looked at Layla with undisguised disgust in his eyes. “Get out of my way.”

Layla took a step forward and lowered her head to block the front of the motorcycle. She put her hand on the motorcycle and whispered, It’s so late. Don’t go out, okay?”

You know it’s so late.” Zachary lowered his voice and said coldly and sarcastically, “You are the one who goes out so late all year round. Layla, you are not qualified to ask me where I’m going. I’m just imitating you.”

Hearing that, Layla was taken aback. She opened her mouth but was speechless

She lowered her head. There was a trace of imperceptible pleading in her lowered voice. “Zachary, please. Go home with

me.”

Home? You chose him and gave up on me. Now, I am equivalent to an orphan. Where is my home?”

You”

Layla raised her hand and met those scarlet and stubborn eyes. However, she stopped.

Are you going to hit me again?Zachary turned his right cheek and looked at Layla coldly as if she was his enemy. Layla, you are going to hit me again because of him. If it happens once, it

again. Just do it? Why don’t you hit me?”

He roared at Layla, and his voice made her eardrums tremble

Layla stood where she was, and tears welled up in her eyes. She slowly put down her hands and looked down, daring not to look into his eyes again. I’m sorry, Zachary.”

Zachary laughed, and his voice became calm, but his words were full of disappointment. “Are you qualified to take care of me?”

“Zachary”

Layla opened her mouth. When she remembered Wesley’s words, all her explanations turned into an apology.

She could not do whatever she wanted and satisfy Zachary’s request. Even if she complied, she could not do it.

Whether she complied or not, she would disappoint him.

Since you didn’t plan to choose me, why do you want to take care of me?”

I…”

You are not qualified to take care of me.Zachary interrupted her. Layla, you make me feel more disgusted.”

Zachary’s words deeply hurt Layla. The boy in front of her used to talk to her about everything. He was the younger brother who loved her and whom she loved the most

However, he found her disgusting and refused to take her as his

sister.

However, Zachary was Layla’s brother and the only family member she had. She would protect him at all costs. How could she not take care of him

I am your sister.”

”

My sister?Zachary sneered, “Layla, are you qualified?”

Layla took a deep breath and suppressed the pain in her heart. She looked up at him. “Zachary, no matter how you think of me, I am your sister by blood and your guardian by law.

“It is a fact that you can never deny in your life. As long as I am alive, I am qualified to take care of you.”

Layla didn’t even have the confidence to say that.

Really?Zachary looked into Layla’s eyes with a trace of

sarcasm on his face. “What if I die? Will you take care of me if I die?”

With that, he pushed Layla aside and whizzed down the road on his motorcycle.

Layla fell to the ground, but Zachary didn’t even look back.

Zachary, where are you going?

Come back!”

Layla only heard the fading sound of the motorcycle.

the darkness. Layla buried her head in her knees, and the dim streetlights elongated her lonely and desperate shadow.

Layla, are you okay?Wren came down from the second floor and looked at Layla with concern. “Where’s Zachary?”

I’m fine, Grandma Wren.” Layla came to her senses and wiped her tears. She stood up from the ground. “Zachary and I had a quarrel. He just left on a motorcycle.”

Zachary is only eighteen years old. It’s normal for him to talk back to you. Don’t worry about him too much. He has to learn to accept what happened to your parents. By the way, are you alright?”

Wren thought that Zachary was brooding over the car accident, so she comforted Layla.

I’m okay.”

Layla, I watched you growing up. You can tell me if you have something you can’t tell Zachary. Don’t keep it in your mind.”

Well, I know.”

Layla answered as if nothing had happened, but Wren heard the conversation between Layla and Zachary

Therefore, the more Layla behaved that way, the more Wren worried about her

It was just that Wren couldn’t take the initiative to talk about something

Wren held Layla’s hand. “You are so mild. Your shameless relatives would not have snatched your family’s savings if you were tough. Then, you didn’t have to work hard for years and would not…”

Feeling the warmth of Wren’s hands, Layla felt somewhat uneasy. She silently withdrew her hand.

Well, it’s late.” Payton interrupted Wren and said softly, “Grandma Wren, you’d better go back to rest. I’m going to look for Zachary.”

Alright.”

Wren agreed. She yawned and went home.

Layla watched Wren go upstairs and went outside.

There were only two places that Zachary could go to in Azure City.

Layla went to the two places one by one. She finally found Zachary at the bar where he sang at 1:30 in the morning

She stood at the inner door of the bar and looked around. Most people in the bar were boys and girls in their twenties, and the rest were people of all kinds.

The lavish wine, the loud music, and the dim lights were full of seductive power. For a moment, Layla almost forgot all her depression in reality. She forgot Wesley, the quarrel with Zachary, and even the pain hiding deeply in her soul.
