Chapter 1621: She's Here.

Selena smiled faintly, "Thank you." After speaking, she nodded and walked forward with the cake in hand without changing her

expression.

The voice of a young woman cfrom behind, "I have a disobedient subordinate who committed a sin in the capital city. I'm here

to take him back."

Selena didn't turn around, only asked, "Did your subordinate commit a serious offense?"

"Very serious," the woman's voice seemed helpless but also carried a hint of gentleness. "He angered two very troublesome

people... a headache-inducing fellow."

"Well then if he's caught it's not unjust," Selena spoke gently but firmly. "Everyone should pay for their sins. If it's not them then it

will be someone they care about because no one can escape punishment."

The woman laughed.

Selena clearly heard a hint of dominance in her tone.

"As long as you have enough power, wrong can becright and anything you want can be obtained," the woman's voice entered

Selena's ears along with footsteps that gradually faded away. "Until now, haven't you understood this truth?"

The last sentence dissipated into the wind and did not fall into Selena's ears.

After being silent for a moment, Selena smiled again. "Power certainly brings many things but it also pushes smore important

things further away."

Is power important?

Very much so; otherwise why would most humans flock to it like moths to light?

"For those who sacrifice their conscience, humanity, emotions freedom happiness just to climb higher... they will eventually lose

everything and gain nothing."

There was no sound coming from behind anymore; perhaps the person had already gone far away.

Selena looked up at the blue sky, the wind lifting her skirt and long hair. Happiness shone in her clear eyes. Her parents had always

wanted her to live a free and happy life, and their greatest wish was for her to never know despair or pain.

Osvaldo had promised to protect her.

She used to be the happiest person in the world.

And that happiness would last forever.

Two women walked parallel on a set path, never looking back, getting farther away from each other with every step. It was as if

they were born destined to go their separate ways, unrepentant even in death.

After Leia watched the other woman leave, she turned to Selena and asked hesitantly, "Madam Selena, who was that person just

now?"

If it were anyone else but Selena's trusted maid Leia asking this question, she wouldn't have been so guarded. But there was

something about that woman that made Leia feel uneasy despite seeing no malice in her eyes. What's more is that they seemed

familiar with each other - almost too familiar...

Selena smiled faintly without breaking stride. "No one important," she said before continuing on towards hwith Leia trailing

behind.

When Selena arrived at their small villa carrying a cake Osvaldo had already returned and stood waiting for her on the steps.

Selena walked over happily, showing him the cake in her hand. "I went out and bought this just for you," she said.

Osvaldo looked at the little girl's sparkling eyes and his gaze softened. He took Selena's hand and led her back home.

Neither of them mentioned anything else.

But after dinner, Selena sent a message to Stanley.
