Chapter 9 The Battle of Sliyphia

As we flew through the crisp cold air, the dragons wings hardly flapping at all just gliding in the wind. I stuck out my arms as we flew through the sky, Bryce was flying below me, he looked up and smiled. Carl was holding on for dear life to his saddle. Christine was cheering as she flew through the sky above me, Luke was also cheering.

"I am never driving again." I thought to myself as I rode on Chaithit's back, my hair blowing, and the wind pushing onto my face. It was amazing the feeling of being able to fly without a jet pack was incredible. Even though as of now a battle was taking place the sensation of flying was unlike anything I could imagine. Then we saw the city in the distance we all turned off the switch and the boosters shut off. Immediately the dragons began to flap their wings rapidly, holding us in the air. What I saw was a horrible sight. The streets where consumed in flames, buildings being knocked down or destroyed, and dragons and humans fighting. We flew over the large wall I looked below where corpses of dragons and humans, being burned by the flames.

Dragons where scorching the skies and streets, bodies of dragons and humans fell towards the destroyed streets. Everyone looked at me with fear, then I said.

"It has already begun." We flew over the small cites then to see Sliyphia was burning, screams and cries where heard everywhere, Soldiers shot shot after shot up at the dragons. The dragons with one fell swoop slicing through the army of soldiers, blood splattering the streets. Xorginym was flying towards the Presidents building, the skyscrapers being knocked out of the sky falling towards the destroyed streets below, crushing innocent bystanders with one fell swoop. The street was soaked in blood, from corpses of dragons and humans. I saw a soldier slash through a dragon, blood exploded then fell to the ground. I saw in the distance that my mom's apartment was still standing, I took a sigh of relief.

"SO WHATS THE PLAN!!" Bryce shouted up at me.

"WE NEED TO GET TO THE PRESIDENTS OFFICE!" I replied, we flew towards the building when all of a sudden ten fighter jets flew towards us.

"CRAP!" I swore loudly, as a shot nearly missed me. More fighter jets had gone to attack dragons.

"I'll handle this protect the dragons!" I shouted, they flew up into the sky their laser blades activated, a fighter jet started to fly after them.

"Oh no you don't!" I shouted jumping off Chaithit and then activating my sword, then cutting through the jet. It exploded then I landed back onto Chaithit, she said.

"Nice one." I smiled back then saw as more jets approached us. Chaithit snapped down onto one exploding it then I shot towards one and destroyed it as well. I looked up to see everyone fighting the jets, destroying them with fury. Chaithit roared in fury as a shot hit her, I prepared to slash at the jet when a soldier flew towards me his laser blade activated. He grinned at me as he tried to slash down at me but I blocked his attack with my sword. Then I saw above me a large explosion go off I took my opportunity to push the soldier off Chaithit, he went falling towards the ground below.

The Rebels flew down to me, some had scars and the dragons had minor cuts. I motioned for us to keep on flying, we flew at top speed. I hoped I just was not too late. We where getting closer and closer to the building when all of a sudden something emerged from the streets below. In a instant a wall of plasma shot towards us, then without warning I saw Tyrves fly right in front of them, and Bryce clutching onto his saddle for dear life. Then I saw Tyrves get blasted with the streams of plasma, he roared in fury, and then the shots went through him creating holes in his body. Bryce floated above as Tyrves went falling downwards towards the streets.

"NO!" He shouted then flew after him with fury. Tyrves hit into the ground hard and everyone landed by Bryce who scrambled to his side. Tyrves had holes all over his body, blood had started flowing from the wounds. Bryce tried to hold his hands to the wounds, blood covering his hands. Then Tryves slowly said.

"Bryce."

"Yeah i'm here you cant die on me you big lug!" He shouted then started shouting in between sobs. "You..Can't..die! Please..It's..not..fair. IT'S NOT!"

"Please..stop..the..war. Stop..the..suffering." Tryves slowly said as he was losing to much blood.

"Why did you do it?" Bryce asked in between sobs. I looked Tryves in the eye seeing that even though we where the monsters, even though peace seemed hopeless. He sacrificed himself to save a dream that might not even come true, to protect us.

"To save your life. G.o.o.d.b.y.e B.r.y.c.e..." Tryves remained motionless his cold eyes staring at Bryce. Bryce clutched onto his body and started to sob, everyone including me did as well. I walked over to Bryce then said.

"He sacrificed himself to save us."

"Yeah. I'll finish what he started." He replied wiping his tears, I hugged him then we heard someone say.

"What are you doing crying over a monster Traitor." Bryce looked at the man with fury then leaped from the ground his blade activated and shouted.

"YOU BASTARD! HE WANTED TO SEE THE WAR END! AND YOU TOOK THAT AWAY FROM HIM!" His blade slashed through the mans armor, the blade poking out of his back, blood was pouring from the soldiers wound. Bryce landed back onto the ground then threw the man off his blade and into a wall.

"Men like him don't deserve to live." He said coldly, then flew up into the air.

"Bryce!" I shouted, then ran over to jump onto Chaithit, and then flew up into the sky everyone else followed. Thousands of fighter jets swarmed the air, I saw in the distance Xorginym start to attack the building.

"I don't have time for this! GUYS COVER ME!" I roared.

"RIGHT!" They flew towards the jets attacking them, some of the pilot's flying out there blades drawn attacking the Rebels on their dragons.

"WHO ARE YOU TRAITOR'S!" The soldiers shouted while attacking.

"WE ARE THE REBELS!!" We roared, attacking them. Chaithit crushed a fighter jet with her talons then threw it to the streets. I flied towards the building with fury, seeing that one of the glass panes had been shattered, Breckett was pointing a gun up at Xorginym. He was about to slash down at him when without warning I jumped off Chaithit and flew over towards them.

"KELYA!" I heard Chaithit shout, then without warning I landed in front of both of them, and then trusted my sword into the air and shouted.

"STOP!" Immediately Breckett and Xorginym stared at me. "PEOPLE OF ARESBURY! WE NEED TO PUT AN END TO THIS WAR! LOOK AT WHAT IT IS DOING! IT DESTROYS THE LAND AND EVERYTHING WE LOVE!" I shouted then saw people below and above looking at me, including dragons.

"I know we have lost loved ones, family, and friends. But that doesn't mean we have to fight to avenge them! We where the ones who started the war, we have been the monsters!" I shouted then Breckett shouted.

"SHE LIES! SHE'S A TRAITOR!! YOU SEE WHAT THE DRAGONS HAVE DONE!! EVERYTHING SHE SAYS IS-"

"LOOK AROUND BRECKETT IS THIS WHAT CAROLINE WOULD HAVE WANTED! NO! THE DRAGONS ARE LIKE US! They love one another, care for one another, protect one another, and remember one another. They are just like us and we have been killing them." I replied then turned to Xorginym and said. "Will you forgive us and end this war once and for all." He looked up at me with sad eyes. Then I saw Breckett reach for his gun and fire up at him. I jumped towards Breckett and shouted.

"NO!" The blast hit Xorginym in the face he roared with fury then slashed towards the floor of the building, with one fell swoop the building started falling towards the inferno below. Breckett slid down the building and shot up at Xorginym, he roared in fury then began to fly towards Breckett, Breckett slashed through Xorginym's skin, blood spilled the sending him slowly falling towards the flames below. Breckett slid downwards and was about to fire another shot at Xorginym his face twisted with fury he shouted.

"TIME TO DIE!" His finger was inches away from the trigger when I jumped towards his gun and shouted.

"NO!" I knocked the gun out of his hand it fell towards the flames below. The building shook and, without warning he went sliding down the glass pane, and he held on for dear life, onto the broken glass panel, his body dangling over the edge only his pudgy fingers clutching desperately for dear life. I held onto the side of the building wall as I saw Xorginym prepare to hit the building again as he was falling.

"KELYA SAVE ME!" Breckett shouted. "PLEASE SAVE A POOR MAN! SAVE ME!" I looked over at him this was the man who killed thousands without mercy, the one who sent my father to die, the one who murdered countless dragons. Was now pleading for mercy, then I saw Xorginym's tail crash through the building support, the building shook violently.

"Save yourself." I said coldly, then looked down and saw his large fingers slip, then his body fell downwards, a look of pure terror etched on his face, and then being consumed by the inferno. The building now tilting I rushed upwards as the floor started becoming the walls. I rushed down the stairs and heard a soft growl coming from a locked room. I slashed through the metal doors and pried them open, Kyrranth was chained up to the floor, his body shaking violently as I walked calmly up to him.

"Hey buddy. You ok. I'm going to get you out of here." I said as I started to cut the chains, but then I was slapped backwards with his purple tail, Blood poured from my chest, I clutched my chest in pain then said.

"I know your scared. But fight it. Fight it." I said as I cut through more chains, his claws feet where now free. He slashed down at me blood poured from my face, pain over flowed my entire body then I cut off the final chain. The building was now falling towards the city below me and Kyrranth fell out of the large shattered window and where falling towards the inferno below us. Kyrranth still had the helmet on his head I glided over to him. I started pulling on the helmet trying to get it off, Kyrranth slashed at me with fury then tried to chomp down on me.

"IM NOT LETTING YOU DIE!" I shouted as I saw his jaws filled to the brim with teeth staring right at me. In an instant I saw him chomp down on my left arm, ripping it from my body. Imminence pain filled me, as I saw blood exploded out of where my arm once was, it was flowing out at an alarming rate. My vision was getting blurry, and my body was not moving. But with the little strength I had left, I ripped the helmet off his head, I saw his eyes turn back to normal. Then I muttered.

"Fly...fly...fly..." I looked downwards to see the inferno was getting closer and closer, my eyes shut and then darkness consumed me.
