Chapter 11

Augustus stood rooted in his place for some time before he fished out his phone and dialed Roxy’s number.

“Yes, alpha. I will be done with the task-” Roxy started, thinking the alpha was urging her to prepare the report of the spy work that she had yet to submit.

“Stop that work for now. I want you to look into something urgently,” Augustus told her the name of the organization and the name of the person so she could gather the authenticity of this letter.

“I will be ”

“Don’t end the call. Keep the call going and tell me everything you see,” Augustus said, his hands sweaty.

Roxy could feel that this was a really urgent matter and she placed the phone on speaker before quickly typing the details.

It wasn’t a hidden site that needed much work. The moment she logged into the organization’s website, she could see the name on the top already.

“The person’s name is indeed here, sir. Every six months a donation of a minimum of $10 million is made to this organization by this person. The background isn’t mentioned, but it says that Dr. Alexis Dimitri actually gives 90% of her carnings and has helped the organization take care of more than 890 orphans, including their daily expenditure and studies,” Roxy said along with what other things she found out.

Augustus heard the information with a heavy heart. He couldn’t believe his ears.

90% of her salary to the orphans? How could this be the same person he heard talking about being materialistic?

His head hurt with all the information and his heart thumped loudly at the thought of making a grave irreparable

mistake.

You never asked her if what you heard was right. It was night time and you spied on her from behind the bushes. Were you even sure it was her and not someone mimicking her?‘ Augustus’s wolf, Sin, asked, leaving the man devastated at the possibility.

But how could it be possible? The next day when his grandfather had given that purse to her, hadn’t she said she loved expensive things like that and she was looking forward to more gifts and getting spoiled and pampered by him? It was obviously cheap gold–digger behavior, right?

‘Or it could be her way of making your grandfather feel relaxed what he chose for her was accepted by her? Sin asked.

Augustus closed the envelope.

If there was any one person who could answer all his questions, then it was the person directly involved.

He turned the car around and sped straight to the hospital where Alexis was working.

“Dr. Alexis!” Augustus shouted as he entered the hospital.

Yes. He knew it was immoral of him, but he couldn’t think of anything sane at the moment. His life felt like a complete lie.

There was no way he was stupid enough to let go of the love that the moon Goddess bestowed upon him and treated that one person he was supposed to love with so much malign just because he was misunderstood.

It was unacceptable.

“Sir, it’s a hospital. You can’t shout like this. The nurse stepped ahead daringly even when she knew who this man was.

Augustus looked at the nurse who had assisted Alexis the previous day.

“Where is Dr. Alexis?” He asked.

“She is in the middle of surgery,” The nurse answered and Augustus clenched his fists.

He walked straight into Alexis’s cabin and sat there to wait for her.

As he sat there, he looked around and noticed how simple the office was. There were no photos, no decorative things, so not Alexis–like.

Then again, she probably didn’t try to decorate it because she knew she was here temporarily.

On the other hand, Alexis, who was performing the major surgery along with a senior doctor finally breathed a sigh of relief when they were able to complete it without any critical situation arising.

“You will be able to stitch it up, yeah?” She asked the assistant doctors, who nodded at her and the senior doctor.

“Good job, Dr. Alexis, Your hands are quite precise and stable for someone who hasn’t practiced for too long. I was a little wary because of Dr. Shane’s absence but he consulted me and said he can vouch for you with his experience,” Dr. Adhana said.

Alexis smiled as soon as they walked out of the main operation theatre and heard the compliments.

She washed her hands and dried them before discarding her operation clothes to get them washed again

“I am glad you could trust me,” Alexis finally said after wearing her ID card and Dr. Adhana smiled.

“Are you free after this? I would like to discuss the operation with you,” Dr. Adhana asked

“I should be fine. It’s a great suggestion. She whispered before plastering a smile on her face as soon as she saw the lady who was waiting outside..

“Dr. Alexis,” the lady immediately stood from her place.

“The operation was successful,” Alexis said.

The lady’s eyes immediately beamed and she threw herself on Alexis.

“Thank you! Thank you so much, doctor. I have no one apart from him to call mine. I don’t know what I would have done if something had happened to him. You…L… I don’t know how to express my gratitude, The lady hugged Alexis.

Dr. Adhana immediately sensed the discomfort on the young doctor’s face and nodded at a nurse who stepped ahead. “Miss, you can’t-

“It’s okay,” Alexis breathed to calm her heart before patting the lady’s back.

“Everything is fine now. He will wake up soon. Prepare him a hearty meal that will help his healing, yeah?” Alexis caressed the lady’s hair who cried in her arms, making her smile.

“It’s okay, she signed to the nurse, who smiled back and left.

Augustus, who was about to go to the nurse and ask how long it would take for the umpteenth time, saw this interaction.

He wanted to call her, but knowing how uncomfortable she got as soon as she saw him and Alexis looked happy after

the operation, he didn’t want to ruin her mood and walked back into the cabin.

Alexis, who was about to walk to her cabin, stopped when her assistant nurse brought her phone.

She looked at the ringing number and her brows furrowed.

“Dawson.” She addressed the person.

“I am sorry, Alexis. Maybe I was too late, but I couldn’t get hold of that acknowledgment letter in time, Alpha Dawson said

Alexia sighed.

She really needed to change her residential address in

the da

of the organization she was donating to. The last thing she wanted was for that hateful man to find another reason to meet her.

“That’s fine. Thank you for trying and making up the time. I will handle it. Nothing happened for the past four years, what will happen this time?” Alexis sighed before exchanging a few more words and ending the call.

“Parul, I want to relax for a few m* before seeing the OPD patients. Don’t let anyone disturb me until it’s urgent,”

Alexis walked straight to her cabin without waiting for the nurse’s reply who wanted to tell her that Alpha Augustus was already waiting for her.

When Alexis entered the office, the lights were turned off and she sighed before plopping on the couch without turning the lights on.

“Dr. Alexis,” She heard the familiar whisper and the smile on Alexis’s face froze as she looked at him with a neutral expression that quickly turned into a scowl.

“What are you doing here?” Alexis asked, but to her surprise, rather than answering her, he nearly pounced on her and pressed his lips on hers, both of their bodies almost feeling electrocuted.

It was shocking for Alexis.

However, what she di

id next was even more shocking.

She raised her hand and slapped the man with good strength, making his head turn to the side.
