Chapter 6

Everything was different since Atlas moved here. Not only was my personal life changing, but my life at school was as well.

A couple days have passed since his first day and things aren’t at all how they used to be. For example, I used to sit alone at my own table during lunch, but now Atlas and Caleb sit with me. Another example, this is the first week in awhile I haven’t had a girlfriend. Actually, he’s gotten a lot of attention from the male and female population in the school. That could be why. It isn’t a big deal, it’s just weird. It’s kind of nice, actually. I feel like I can finally relax with friends for once, instead of figuring out where I am going to take the week’s girlfriend for our date. I love helping the ones that need help but it’s nice having free time like this.

Currently I’m in PE class, waiting for the teacher to let us go to the locker rooms. Drew has been talking my ear off about how his sister doesn’t like his girlfriend.

He started dating a cheerleader named Wendy yesterday and they were caught dry humping in his bedroom last night by his sister. Wendy wasn’t the nicest to Drew’s sister afterwards and now there’s drama.

“Jamie is just being stupid about the entire situation. Wendy was just frustrated about being interrupted. I mean, things were getting pretty heated,” Drew said and winked. I chuckled and shook my head.

“You do realize Jamie just doesn’t want you dating a bitch, right? Wendy has a reputation for being a slutty bitch, so it doesn’t surprise me that Jamie already hates her,” I shrugged and he huffed. He knew I was right. Jamie and Drew have always been close. They rarely got into fights, and when they did, it was usually because Drew was being an idiot.

“Yeah, but I would have gotten laid if she hadn’t walked in. She will understand when she’s older.”

“Dude, she’s one year younger than us,” I laughed and he rolled his eyes.

“Yeah, whatever,” he grumbled.

“Alright, everyone. You’re dismissed. Get out of my gym,” Mr. Mathews yelled and we all headed out the gym doors. Mr. Mathews is the football coach as well and Drew has told me many times about how much of a grumpy asshole he could be. He never got in trouble for being so rude to his students though because of how good of a coach he is. The school-board doesn’t want to lose our four year winning streak.

I walked to my locker in the locker room and began changing back into my dark jeans, gray t-shirt, and my socks and shoes. I slipped my phone and wallet into my pocket and grabbed my books.

I ran my fingers through my hair and started heading for the door. Drew was talking to a friend of his so I left without him.

The bell rang right as I began walking down the hall towards my locker. Students were walking out of their classrooms and I had to dodge a few assholes who thought they owned the hallway. I hated when people did that.

I approached my locker, opened it after putting in the combination, and exchanged my books for the ones I would need after lunch which is where I was headed to next. I shut the locker and walked to the cafeteria.

I walked over to our table, sat down my books, and got into the lunch line. After getting my lunch, I went back to our table and joined the others.

“Hey! Did you do your chemistry homework?,” Caleb quickly asked before I could start eating.

I sighed and handed him the papers. He was lucky I had chemistry next period.

“You are a life savor,” he quickly got to work, copying down the answers as he ate. I looked up as Atlas sat down beside him. He was wearing a rainbow tie dye shirt and ripped black skinny jeans. He looked so good today, as usual, and I had to tear my eyes away from him so nobody noticed me checking him out.

Drew sat down beside me and started scarfing down his food.

“Dude, close your fucking mouth when you chew,” I grimaced and he laughed.

“Well, well, well,” said a voice behind me and the table quieted. Drew was slowly chewing his food as he looked up to see who it was. I turned around and rolled my eyes when I saw it was Randy Johnson. Randy was a bully and asshole. I’ll just keep it as simple as that.

“What do you want, Randy,” I asked him with a sigh.

“Oh, I was only wondering if the gay had rubbed off on you yet. I mean, you have been hanging out with those two fags since that cock sucker moved here,” Randy smirked when he saw my jaw clench.

“Dude, not cool. Back off,” Drew turned around in his chair.

“What? I only asked a question,” he grinned.

“Randy, I’m not gay,” I started, “your girlfriend can attest to that.”

His jaw clenched and I grinned.

“Tell me, how’s she doing?,” I smirked and he stepped towards me with an angry scowl on his face.

“Don’t you fucking talk about my girlfriend,” he gripped onto my shirt and pulled me up closer to his face. He was trying to be intimidating, but it wasn’t working. He’s always hated me. I don’t know what I did, but I didn’t really care.

“Careful, Randy, or people will start thinking you’re the gay one here,” I smiled and he glared at me. He released me a moment later and walked away as he grumbled to himself. I chuckled and sat back down as I fixed my clothes.

“Are you okay?,” Atlas asked with a worried expression.

“Yeah, I’m fine. Randy doesn’t scare me,” I smiled and continued eating my lunch. He nodded and went back to eating, silent this time.

The rest of the day was pretty quiet. I saw Atlas talking to a boy by my car, but the boy walked away before I could see who it was.

“Who was that?,” I asked as I unlocked my car.

“That’s just my friend Matt,” he answered with a shrug and I heard Caleb cover a chuckle with a cough.

Who is Matt? I already didn’t like him.

It definitely isn’t because of the blush on Atlas’s face.

Nope. Not at all.
