Chapter 92

Sage felt that Ian’s expression was rather weird. Of course, the question he asked was also odd.

She took a step away from him, her guard now raised. “Why would I be angry at you?”

“Then why didn’t you go home last night?”

What did lan mean by that? He made it sound as though they were inseparable! Had he seriously forgotten the number of nights he had spent elsewhere instead of returning home over the course of their one–year marriage?

Sage couldn’t be bothered to waste her breath on meaningless arguments with Ian. She rolled her eyes at him before heading toward the dining table.

The housekeepers had already laid out a breakfast spread by then. Sage had just poured herself a glass of milk when she heard Ian saying, “I want a glass of milk, too.”

“Are you handicapped? Can’t you pour it yourself?” she shot back.

Ian gritted his teeth. “You used to serve me milk and other food. Are you saying that it was all an act?”

How dare that bastard bring up the past!

Sage’s temper flared instantly. “You really think I’m that dumb to serve you for the rest of your life, huh? I’d rather jump off a cliff than do that!”

Ian was pissed off when he heard Sage’s extreme remark. “The morning’s barely over, Sage! Must you pick a fight with me already?”

Sage retorted, “I wouldn’t have done that if you hadn’t shown your stupid face before me!”

Ian was momentarily speechless. He gritted his teeth in order to suppress his anger,

“It’s bad enough that you never went home last night, but why didn’t you respond t messages as well?”

Sage was too busy yesterday to be looking at her phone. “What’s up with the messages?”

Ian did his best to remain patient. “Yesterday was Uncle Ron’s birthday. He’s a family friend, so I need to show that I care. That’s why I had Ivy pass some supplements to him.”

Sage huffed mentally at Ian’s explanation. That man cared a great deal about the Shekdotters. He had spent the day with Ivy some time ago to celebrate her birthday. When it was Ronald’s birthday, he sent him a nice gift, too.

“Why are you telling me all these things? They have nothing to do with me.”

“If you really don’t care about those things, then why did you change your attitude toward me all of a sudden?” lan demanded in displeasure.

He continued, “Sage, 1 told you before that you should just let me know if you’re unhappy about something. Don’t do meaningless and nonsense things.”

П

“At least my behavior is a lot more normal than the time you decided to take a shower in another woman’s house!” Sage hollered all of a sudden.

This was her second time bringing up this particular topic, making Ian frown slightly as a

result.

“Since when have I showered in another woman’s house?”

How dared that bastard not admit to his actions

Sage located the photo she had saved on her phone. “Take a look at this!”

Ian accepted the phone and looked at the photo. It was taken in Ivy’s apartment. There was food and drinks laid out on the coffee table. Other than that, the photo didn’t show any

abnormalities.

“What are you trying to show me?” he asked in confusion.

Sage zoomed into a particular spot of the photo. Then, she pointed at a blue shirt.

“Isn’t this your shirt?”

The sight of the clothing triggered Ian’s memory.

That night, Ivy had told him that she needed to talk to him about an urgent work–related matter. So, he and Terry rushed over to Bolton Investment.

The matter was indeed very urgent. Ian needed to go on a last–minute business trip to a neighboring city early in the morning just to resolve the problem.

He decided to spend the night in an office at Bolton Investment, so he had Terry ret Holcomb Corporation to pack the suitcase meant for the business trip.

Meanwhile, Ivy needed to swing by her apartment to retrieve an important document that she had forgotten to bring along.

On her way there, she called fan, saying that her car had broken down. Ian accidentally soiled his clothes after rushing over to check on the car’s condition.

Once they reached the apartment block, Ivy invited Ian into her apartment. That way, she could grab the files while he could change his clothes there.

The moment Ian finished changing his clothes in the bathroom, it just so happened that someone called him on the phone. Hence, he walked to the balcony to answer the call.

As such, he had no idea Ivy would end up including the dirty shirt he had left on her couch in her photo. Of course, he didn’t know that Sage would get her hands on the photo as well.

Ian asked with a frown, “Did Ivy send you that photo?”

Sage huffed coldly. The sender’s identity isn’t important here. Just answer this question. Is this shirt yours?

lan didn’t answer the question. Instead, he started a video call with Ivy right in front of Sage.
