2 years later. Lauren's Point of view. I feel the bed dip and open my eyes quickly, with a gasp. “Baby, it's just me,” Zac whispers. I sigh in relief and pull him int me. “You're back! I missed you so much, why are you so early?” “I missed you and the kids too much,” he whispers. Zac was on a rescue mission, about 8 hours north of here. An Alpha had inherited his small pack from his father and had been abusing and mistreating his members. Zac assembled our warriors and went there a few days ago to step in. The pa only had about a hundred people in it, and he spent a few days there helping establish a new order for those that wante to stay, and helped those who wanted to join our pack make those arrangements. Over the last few years, Zac has done a few different rescue missions. Usually in rogue camps where he hears people are being mistreated, but this was the first time he had attacked another pack with a claimed territory, aside from Nathan. Shortly after we got married, a woman stumbled into Peggy's bar. She was badly beaten. My Mom was working with Peggy and she could smell she was a she-wolf. The girl was too afraid to admit what had happened and didn't want to seek medical attention. My Mom didn’t know what to do, so she called Zac, and we both went to meet with her. When she saw that Zac was a strong Alpha, and he was offering her protection she opened up. She told us of how her father was an abusive drunk, so she ran away from her pack. At just 17, the streets were no place for her. With nowhere to 20 and no money, she ended up hitchhiking trying to get as far away from her pack as possible. As a she-wolf, she felt humans were of little concern to her safety. However, when a large man who was also a werewolf stopped for her while hitchhiking, she ignored her instincts to refuse the drive and got in. He had then taken her to a rogue camp. She tried to fight him off, but he beat her until she was in and out of consciousness, and unable to fight back. it was truly heartbreaking to hear her accounts of that night. Apparently, the rogue camp was about an hour's drive away, and that's where she was assaulted. She talked of how her screams were met with laughter from other rogues in the cam, zac quickly assembled a team and raided the camp. Killed every man there, and saved a hand full of women and childrer that were being held captive, and offered them a place in our pack. That was the start of Zac's rescue missions. He kept talking about how that could have been me if I didn't have people in my life like my Mom and Pegey. It really weighed on him. Plenty of people become rogues for reasons that are not due to any fault of their own, and we make a point to remember that. From sadistic rogue camps to tyrannical Alpha, Zac has been standing up for those unable to stand for themselves. 'm so proud of him, and all the good work he does. Not only is he helping people, but he has also nearly doubled our pa size in the last few years. With this new group of 60, it will bring our total to just over 520 members. “Mmm I missed you so much... and your scent” I breathe in deeply, and I can't help but groan. “This was a long 3 days” I add. “Even a day away is hard. I told Paul that I had a time-sensitive business matter to attend to, so I needed to fly home. I pt him in charge of leading everyone back,” he admits. Even though he’s spooning me, and I can't see his face, I can tel he's smiling. 1 know he missed her. Zac lets go of me, and lays on his back, pulling Alivia into his arms. “I missed you, did you miss me?” He asks, and she lifts her head to look him in the eye. “I mith you, daddy,’ Zac smiles, and pulls her in closer, kissing her head. I hear Cash cry, and I pull the blankets off and get up to get him. I change his diaper then bring him back to our bed, and nurse him while we all just enjoy being together. As soon as Cash is finished eating, hes making his way to Zac too. He's such a big boy for his age, I think he’s going to be built like Zac one day. “Are you feeling the love, babe?” I ask him. With a child in each arm cuddled into him, it's kinda hard for him not to. “I am. I missed my babies... All of them,” he smiles and reaches for my hand to give it a squeeze. I lean in to kiss him and snuggle in with the kids. After some much-needed snuggles, we get ourselves and the kids ready for breakfast downstairs. We usually eat breakfast at home these days, because with the kids, its just easier. Today we're going to eat breakfast in the kitchen because Zac wants to announce how the mission went. The second Alivia sees my Mom at our table, shes running to her excitedly. “Gramma, Gramps, Daddy's home,” she squeal “I see that,” Brian, my Mom's husband says with a smile. Brian was once a member of a rogue group. It's hard being a rogue, so it makes sense to join a strong rogue Alpha sometimes. At first, his Rogue Alpha seemed to want to just bring rogues together, but soon his outlook changed, and he abused his power. Brian was unsure if the power went to his head, or if maybe he just manipulated people into thinking I was a good man to get their allegiance. zac raided the camp after he got word of the “Rogue Alpha’ mistreating his members. We ended up getting about 30 new members that day, one of which being Brian. I'll never forget when Zac pulled in, it was a little over a year ago, and I had just found out that I was pregnant again when he was gone, so as soon as he pulled in, I jumped him. I told him right ther and there because I couldn't wait. He was ecstatic, but we soon heard a commotion, and we looked to see what it was. My Mom was standing in front of Brian, crying, because she was overcome with emotion at the realization she was given : second chance mate. My Mom was also Brian's second chance mate. His mate had died a few years prior as well. We have actually had about 10 people find their mates with members that Zac and the warriors have rescued. It makes m wonder if they would have ever found their mate otherwise. Brian is good for my Mom. He adores her, and she adores him. I am so happy that she is happy too. On top of that, he lov her grandchildren as his own, and they love him to pieces too." “I wasn't expecting you back so soon,” Brain says to Zac. “I had some time-sensitive work to get done, so 1 put Paul in charge of getting everyone back,” Zac answers, and then loo at me and smirks. “Haha, I'm sure. Is your wife the time-sensitive work?” My Mom laughs. He just smiles and shakes his head. “And Livy and Cash... 3 days is along time,” he huff. My big strong Alpha is a softy for us, and I love it. “Plus it's going to be Livy's birthday party in 2 days. They won't be getting here till tonight, I want to be able to help out with any last-minute birthday details. Right Livy?” he asks her. She looks to him with a mouth full of waffles and nods with a smile, then he leans over to kiss her on the cheek. There was literally nothing left to do for Livy's party, and Zac knew that, but it was a good excuse. He announces the news of their successful rescue mission, and the news of 60 new members joining. The pack is excited, especially the unmated ones. They're all hopeful that their mate will come walking in here tonight. We spend the whole day together as a family. We went to the park on the pack lands and had a picnic for lunch with the kids. I don't think there is anything that makes me more attracted to Zac than seeing him play and care for our kids. Watching him push Cash in the swing, and laughing hysterically at Cash's giggles is the cutest. Or watching him hold Alivi so she can pretend she's doing the monkey bars or making sandcastles. Most importantly, just seeing how much he loves and adores them. The way he is as a father is his sexiest quality. After lunch, we put the kids down for a nap, and then Zac and I have some Mommy and Daddy time in bed, but we didn’t get any sleep. [2 days later] Zac's Point of View “It's your birthday, are you excited, Livy? "I ask her, as we get ready to head to Blackwood to go to an indoor playground rented for her birthday. “My pawty? I love my pawty. With pwesents?” She asks while tilting her head to the side pointing a finger at me. She's so cute. She looks so much like Lauren, thankfully. My hair is darker than Lauren's and that's the only part of me she has. She's got Lauren's eye shape and colour. She also has Lauren's cute little button nose. It's hard to know which way Cash i going to go. He still only has little peach fuzz for hair, he's so chubby and his eyes are still blue. Lauren says he has my smile though, even though I don't see it. “There won't be presents at your party, but you can open presents before your party,” I say enthusiastically. “Yay! Pwesents,” she squeals. We invited so many people to her party, it would have just been so excessive if everyone wa bringing a gift, so we asked that no one bring any. Joan and Brian were here this morning, giving her their gift; a little people Elsa ice castle dollhouse, which was a big hit. Lauren comes into the kitchen with Cash in one arm, and a diaper bag and gift bag in the other. I rush to grab the bags, “You should have called me if you needed help.” “I didn't need help, my hands can be full sometimes,” she says with a laugh. “I'm here, you don't need to have your hands full" I add, and steal a kiss. “You look beautiful," 1 add. She literally always looks beautiful though. She has her hair down, and she's wearing a blue casual dress. “This is from Mommy and Daddy,” I say, as I hand the bag to Alivia. She tears through all the tissue paper, and Lauren is laughing at her enthusiasm, while Cash is trying to get out of Lauren's arms so he can get to the tissue paper. Inside, there is an interactive unicorn toy, which she loves. She has an obsession for unicorns lately. I look to Lauren, and she nods. I go to the library, and I grab this caterpillar ride-on toy that I already put together. We put a large bow on it's neck, but it's not wrapped. When I bring it out, Livy's 50 excited! She drove it around the house for the full half-hour befo we had to leave. When it's time to go, we load up the kids, and everything we need, then take off to Blackwood for her birthday party. The kids did pretty good with the 30-minute drive, and Livy is excited beyond belief, and it's contagious. When we walk into the indoor playground, we see balloons and decorations everywhere. We rented out the whole place, with so many of our friends having little kids, this just felt like the safest option. There are huge slides, and tunnels and huge play structures to climb, but they're safe for little ones. They even have a ball pit area. We're getting there at the same time as Julien, Cora and their 1.5-year-old daughter Jolie because they left at the same time as us. Next Jenny, Malcolm and their 1-year-old son Noah come in, then Jack, Lexi, Mol Enzo and Lucas come in. Enzo loves Alivia differently than Molly and Lucas love her, and I'm okay with it now, but 'm very aware that I might not like their little hugs and hand-holding much longer. Next, Jack's parents, then Peggy, Joan and Brian show up, followed by Kyle and Sadie, they still don't have kids because s! is determined to finish her schooling before she has children. She was able to get a transfer to a university 45 minutes frc jack's pack, and she travels every day. Lauren also brought fruit veggie platters and apple sauce for the really little ones. We have quite a group of people with us, and everyone is having good time, especially the birthday girl. She’s been smiling ear to ear the whole time. “Zac, can you get the cake lit and start singing?" Lauren asks me, as she cradles a sleeping Cash in her arms. “Of course,” I get the little sparklers and candles going on her cake, and then I start, “Happy Birthday..." we sing happy birthday, and my precious girl was beaming with delight at all the attention on her. When the singing is done, she blows out her 2 candles. I cut and hand out the cake. When everyone is served, I bring Lauren a big piece of cake and take Cash. I let him sleep in my arms so Lauren can eat her cake, and relax. We asked the guests to not bring any gifts, so after the cake, the kids play for another 30 minutes before we started shutting it down. “Livy, I want you to hug all your friends goodbye, and thank them for coming” Lauren tells her, and I see her going straigt to Enzo who is only about 6 months older than Livy. He gives her a hug, and then keeps her in his arms and says “Your beautithul Alithia." Yeah okay, you're a real charmer, Enzo. Now get away from her. “Oh look Enzo, go see Auntie Lauren, she has treat bags she's giving out I point out to get him to stop pawing at her. Jack just laughs at me, obviously noticing how I tried to put some distance between them. “It's not funny.” “They think they're cousins Zac, I highly doubt we have to worry” he explains, and I guess he’s right, for now. “Bye Uncew Jack,” Alivia says, as she runs to his arms outstretched. He scoops her up and hugs her. “Bye, little Livy. I hope you had a good birthday. Uncle Jack and Aunt Lexi put a present in your car for you, okay” Jack tell her. “A pwesent?” she asks excitedly. “Yes!” Jack chuckles. “You guys really shouldn't have, but what do we say, Livy?" “Tank you, * she says happily. When we get to the car, we see a gift bag in Alivia's car seat. She opens the gift bag, and there's fluffy unicorn stuffy with light-up horn, unicorn slippers, and a unicorn book that was called “Alivia’s pet Unicorn.’ Alivia wanted the unicorn slippers on right away and held her new unicorn stuffy the whole time, I snapped a quick pick send to Lex and Jack. “You're 50 cute, Livy Loo" I say and plant kisses all over her face. When we finally get home, we put both kids straight to bed, because it's 7 pm already. “You want a snack babe?” Lauren asks with a wide smile. I start laughing just looking at her. Something is up. “Are you the snack?” 1 ask, and her smile is to her eyes now. “No. Well maybe after the snack snack.” “Ym suddenly not thinking about food” I admit, as I pull her in for a kiss. She kisses me back but pulls away. I pout at her and she laughs, and pulls me to the island and tells me to sit. “You know how I ordered Livy's cake, and I insisted on going in to pick it up this morning?” she asks. “Yes?” She wanted to go alone, but I chalked it up to wanting a little time to herself. “Well, 1 also ordered something for you,” she answers, opening the fridge, and pulling out a box. “Did you get me cheesecake?” I ask excitedly. She wags her eyebrows and puts the box in front of me. I lift the lid, and th itis, a beautiful cherry cheesecake, but it has pink whipped cream writing on it. “Ym pregnant” “Did they mess up your order?” 1 ask, as I turn the box to her, to show her what it says. “No. 1 ordered that cheesecake!’ She deadpans while pointing to it. “So you're pregnant?” I ask, confused. She nods. What? I burst out laughing and pull her into my arms. “How? We've been safe,” I ask. “Well, not that safe. Pulling out isn't really 100% effective birth control, plus there was that one time a few weeks ago," sh reminds me. “How are you feeling? Are you okay?" I ask. I know she wasn't planning on getting pregnant for another year. “It was meant to be. I'm a little nervous for Cash and this baby to be so close in age, but I'm happy,” she smiles and gives me a kiss. “We've got this! Don't be nervous, baby... So when did you find out?” I'm suddenly curious. “This morning. I can't believe I was able to keep this from you all day. You brought me a coffee this morning in bed, and then when you got into the shower, I grabbed the coffee but it grossed me out. I happened to have an extra pregnancy te laying around, so I took it. I was shocked. I had already ordered you the cheesecake, but when I went to pick it up, I asked them to add the writing” she admits. “Ym shocked too. I'm excited to be growing our family, but I really was not expecting that," I admit. “Ym glad you're happy,” she smiles. “Did you think I wouldn't be?” I question. “No I knew you would be happy, we talked about having 1 more, and you were always pretty mellow about the timeline," she states. “Yeah, I don't care when we have them, in fact, I like the idea of them being close in age, so that way they grow up being close.” Lauren nods with a smile. “So what do you say? What are you eating first?” She asks with a flirtatious smile. “Mmm, like you even have to ask," I growl, scooping her up, and carrying her to bed. The end.
