Danny’s POV

I looked at her lifeless body lying in my lap. I didn’t want this. I didn’t want to see her face free from any emotion. Honestly...When she pierced the dagger in her heart I wanted to scream. I wanted to let her know it was wrong. But all hell broke when she died. The gate was already open and the screams coming from everywhere was the only logical explanation that all creatures wanted to escape from hell.

I looked at Zach to see that Sage has already freed him from his bind. Sage was nowhere to be found which could only lead to worse. Zach came towards us and before he could say something, I let him hold Amy. He looked at me confused but I got up and started looking for that bastard. I don’t know why but he didn’t question my insanity and with care tried to heal the blood that was coming from her. When I knew she was in good hands, I left to kill that Sage. I started to run for the gate but stopped when I heard something.

“Danny, wait!”

Turning my head, I looked in disbelief at Dalton. Where the hell he came from!? Noticing my stare he sighed and gave me a sudden hug. I don’t know what I was feeling. I didn’t want to remember the harsh fact that in my own hand Amy was dead. I wanted to forget the pain so I let the rage out. I didn’t notice I was crying until he pointed that.

“You need to stay strong and kill that animal. I’ve my clan with me. They’ll help so the hell creatures can’t escape hell. You will kill him, I promise.” He said and I only nodded. Even if he didn’t come here I was going to kill him anyway.

I didn’t know what I was expecting when we stood near the door. The whole gate was lighting brightly and thousands of cries were coming inside of it. Creatures were fighting between themselves to return earth.

“Watch out!”

Dalton pulled me out of the way as powerful daggers went over our heads. I threw up the shield so the daggers bounced off the shield and I shot them back to their original throwers. Rage was making me see red. It took me, every ounce of my self-control to keep me from flinging them off after what they did to Amy. They even used my sister to threaten me.

The entire place turned out in fog and darkness as one of the creatures howled. It was Sage. The temperature dropped and I shivered. I couldn’t see anything anymore.

“Danny! Where the hell are you?” Dalton yelled but I ignored him. I only kept my attention to where the growling was coming from. I tried to scatter the fog but it kept regenerating. I had almost reached towards Sage when something bit me hard in my leg. I didn’t have time to scream as I gave a kick to whatever it was. When I looked behind Sage was there staring at me with an unreadable face.

“You’re too late.” Sage’s grin was crazed and twisted with evil. “The gate is open and it’s time I take earth back.”

Amy’s POV

I gasped when I felt an electric shock coursed through my entire body. I was supposed to feel pain or any of my organs but I only stared at the beautiful sky above me. Wait, what? Sky?

I jumped from the ground I was laying and stood up immediately. Where was the hell I? I was in a beautiful garden and it even had a lake in front of me. I looked at my dress to see that I’m wearing a white sundress when the last I was wearing black clothes. Am I in heaven?

“I’m not sure God will want me in heaven.” A voice stated and I whipped around to see my mother smiling at me. I didn’t know what to feel at that moment. Should I cry or hug the hell out of her. Thankfully she opened her arms and I hugged her like I’m afraid to let her go.

"What happened? Am I dead?” I choked out when she looked back at me.

“For now. But I’m afraid I’m actually dead. But you my child...are not.” She exclaimed and I looked at her funnily. What the hell she means for now? But that didn't matter anymore. I was with my mom.

I finally found peace.

“What is this place?″ I asked her looking at the sky. It was so sunny that it made me never want to leave from there.

“Between heaven and hell. I don’t know why you were sent here but I think the reaper thing needs to be cursed for that.” I nodded. I don’t know how to feel right now when I was alone with her. I had so many questions.

“Look, mom, I...” I started but she cut me off.

“I know you’re sorry.”

“Are you happy...I mean in here?” I don’t know why I asked that. Maybe I needed to be sure that she was OK.

“More than when I was alive.” I nodded.

“Is Keira here?” I asked mom hoping I would see her.

“No. But why don’t you come with me? I need to show you something.” My face fell but when she dragged me near the lake. I let her and noticed on the opposite side it had a beach. A golden-haired girl only three or four years younger than me was dancing there. Her golden hair reminded me of Danny which I swallowed as quickly the thought came.

“Do you remember her?" Mom asked me and when I took in her face I froze.

“Is that..is...Samara?” I choked out to stop the tears that were threatening to come from my eyes. I can’t believe that I’m seeing her now and here. She was my best friend in my school and in my junior year she saved my life jumping in front of a truck that was going to crush me. She was the one who helped me with Zach.

“Yes, that’s Samara. When I came here she was already living here. She’s a good child. She was your savior. Do you want to talk to her?" I know it was a lifetime opportunity but what could I possibly tell her? In these years so much has changed. I’ve changed. I didn’t have anything to say other than thank you.

“Can you tell her that I miss her? I can’t talk to her. Please, it’s too painful.” I was full on sobbing now and she hugged immediately to console me. I didn’t want to leave from her warmth. But I was feeling something else coming from me. Like I could feel my body parts firing back to life.

“Choose your life wisely.” She whispered and again I fell into darkness.

Danny’s POV

I stood there in horror looking at Sage who was trying to go through the gate. Suddenly all the memories of her limp body, covered in dry blood rushed to me. The deepest, most passionate type of anger anyone could ever imagine began to take over. My eyes sparked a bright golden as the fury surged throughout my body.

“Not so fast, Sage.” I hissed and called my binds to stop him from entering the gate. He will pay for what he did to her. My grip on him tightened as I thought about how I had let her down.

I felt my eyes tingle, burning slightly. I shut my eyes forcefully, resisting the tears that were coming down anyway. I kept pulling the strings around Sage until he was bound in my power.

“Danny! Take the dagger!” Dalton yelled out and threw me the dagger. Thankfully I reached out and shot the dagger at Sage. First, he dodged it and then I picked up the dagger to pierce it to him myself.

“You’re not leaving alive from here.” I grinned to let him see the dagger and confusion forced him to talk back.

“What...This dagger looks exactly like...” I cut him off laughing.

“Yes, Sage. This is the dagger you wanted me to use to kill Amy but guess what? I didn’t use it on her. The dagger that I used, it was a normal one. I was saving this special one for someone more suitable, like you.” I finished and the realization came down to him.

“You betrayed me.” He growled but before he could attack I forced the dagger to his heart. Then to my shocked stage, someone threw him against the wall grabbing his neck in a fit of rage. I knew it wasn’t my doing.

Was I dreaming? Or my mind was playing tricks? I saw him gulping as the poison started to take action towards his body. My grip on the dagger tightened just like Amy did. The fog started to clear and I saw someone ran to enter the gate. Before I could stop the person to thank; finally Sage took a forceful breath and slummed from the wall nearly managing to enter the gate. Instantly the other creatures turned into dust. I looked at his lifeless body with no remorse. He deserved that. When I was still staring Dalton came up behind me and patted me to stay back.

“We need to go back. The gate won’t stay open the whole day.” Dalton’s words made sense as I looked back and saw my sister coming towards us. We needed to get out, quickly.

Together we returned to saw that Zach was still there looking at Amy with a grim expression.

“Did you see her?” He asked me and it had no emotion. Should I worry now?

“No, should I?” I asked him unsure.

“Yes...no...You will not be able to bear it.” He replied and a pang goes to my heart. Why is this scene so familiar to me?

“Why?"

“She is dead. She is gone just because you couldn’t accept her.” Was he hinting the seeker thing? But I...

“What...what are you...?” I tried to talk but he cut me off. Dalton and Iva were preparing the clan members to get out of this limbo.

“She is too far gone to return. And it’s your fault. I should’ve killed you when I had the chance. Well...why not now? She is not here. Nobody is here. Just you and me. And now there will be only me!” He hissed and I knew he was angry at me for taking Amy’s life. But before he could punch me to death or I could say something to him a sharp intake of breath made both turned our heads to look at Amy.

With a cracked voice, she called out, “Danny...?”
