The night was quiet and it would only be a matter of hours before daylight would show itself. But Andreas was relentless. My chamber was filled with our mingled deep breaths. The whole thing felt like a dream. The pleasure he was able to give me surpassed my expectations. True to his words, he did all the work. I did not know what to do anyway. So I lay there as he did what he desired. What I desired.

Throughout, Andreas kept whispering how he felt good and kept asking how I was feeling. My mind was too hazy to answer him but the sounds I made were enough for him to know how I truly felt.

As his movements quickened, the pleasure built up quickly inside me until I found myself shivering underneath

“Da mn it,” he muttered as he felt the tension on my legs. He did not stop moving and as if it was not enough, he reached down and his fingers started to touch the bundle of nerves at the apex of my thigh, making me tremble and arch my back.

“You were incredible, Henrietta,” he mumbled and the blush found my cheeks.

He braced his arms beside me and got up, staring at my face. As if he was searching for something there.

“Do you still feel…” he trailed off. As if saying the words would ignite something in him as well so he chose not to say it directly. I knew what he meant so I shook my head, fighting the urge to push him away and run so I could hide and not show my face.

“I don’t feel it anymore,” I said but it was a lie. The lingering feeling of desire was still there, although, it was not because of the effect of his blood but of my own volition. It was my own instinct acting up in response to my attraction to this man.

His smile was warm as he nodded and got up. Before I could ask where he was going, he was already wearing his clothes. Words left my mouth as he quietly left my room and closed the door.

I was left there in bed, stunned at what just transpired. I let myself fall to the soft mattress of the bed and before I could conclude where he went, the door opened once again. I thought it was Niana returning from her hometown but then I saw Andreas holding a basin of water and a towel.

“You didn’t leave?” I asked, watching him as he laid the basin on my bedside table.

He sat on the bed and with his one hand, he pushed me back down. Before I could ask another question, he started to wipe my body with a warm towel, making me stare at him in wonder.

“Why would I leave?” He started wiping my thighs and the warm towel made me sigh.

“Because… you’re done?”

He let out a chuckle and looked at me. “Is that your perception of me, Henrietta? I may be what people call ruthless but I am not an a sshole.” He soaked the towel again and started wiping my legs. “It was your first time. I intended to make it memorable in a good way.”

I bit my lip, suppressing the smile that threatened to surface. There was no doubt that Andreas had had

experience with several women and the thought that he does this with others settled in me, threatening to replace the bliss I was feeling. I shook the thought away.

Just when I thought he would stop there, he helped me get dressed. But the way he struggled with my nightgown told me enough that he had not done this with a lot of women.

When he was done, his gaze met mine and he smiled. “I will stay here until you fall asleep.” He took the chair by the window and settled next to the bed. I was just lying there, looking at him, still processing if it was real or a product of my imagination after being poisoned. But the pain that stayed after we did it was very real and it was enough to convince me that was there, sitting next to my bed after helping me clean up and get dressed, and now waiting for me to fall asleep.

“Andreas,” I called as he was busy fixing the blanket for me.

“Hmm?”

“Thank you.”

“For what?”

“For this. For doing this. I know I must have sounded so desperate.” I sucked in a breath and closed my eyes. “Nevertheless, I was glad you’re the one I did this with.”

Maybe it was the tiredness and the fact that my body might still have been weak from the poison’s effect that I instantly drifted to sleep.

It was probably the most sound sleep I have ever had I felt like it was too short when I was woken up by a relentless knocking on my door. As soon as I got up, Niana burst in, teary-eyed, and immediately held my hand.

“My lady!” she breathed, hastily wiping the tears from her eyes. “I heard what happened and I apologize I could not come sooner. I was with my family–”

“Niana.” I held her hand. I was thankful she was not here last night and the thought made me blush. “I am fine now. And besides, Andreas took me here and took care of me. I feel better now.””

She still did not look convinced and I chuckled. “I am fine, Niana. Your tears are unnecessary now. Please stop crying.”

Niana nodded and wiped her face. “But what of the one who placed poison in your drinks? Do you know who it

I shook my head, dread settling in me. “I don’t know. All I know is that someone out there is out to kill me and I

need to be careful.”

Niana was silent for a moment before she said, her voice dropped lower, “Do you…have any idea who could it

be?”

I know what she was talking about. It could be anyone from my family but I don’t want to point fingers without strong proof. “I’ve yet to know. Hopefully, it’s not them behind this.”

She squeezed my hand slightly, her silent comfort giving me enough reason to smile.

“However, you said Sir Andreas was with you. Did he leave you here all night, my lady?”

I swallowed hard and thought of an excuse. “H-He stayed a bit longer until I was feeling a bit better.”

“How did he cure you of the poison, though?”

I muttered a curse inside my head. But before I could say some excuse, my door opened once again, and in came Myrna and Yvette. The look on their faces tells me they’ve had an unpleasant morning. For whatever reason, Myrna is thinking I’ve had something to do with it.

“Niana. Could you please ready my bath and brew me some tea?”

Niana was hesitant at first but after I gave her a reassuring smile, she bowed her head and walked out of the

I did not bother getting up from my bed. I don’t think my legs are strong enough to stand on their own. In addition, the stain on my bed as the evidence of what I had done last night, was visible. I can’t let them see that.

I saw her flinch and I smiled. “Do not forget there is not a drop of Silvana blood in you, Myrna. You’re holding that title with a fragile status. And we all know what happens to fragile things if we don’t take care of it.”

“If you don’t mind, I need to drink my tea. As you both know, I stole the moment of Yvette by getting poisoned last night. I need to recover so I can do it again.” The sarcasm in my voice made Yvette break her kind facade and

frown at me.

Thankfully, both of them decided not to argue and just stormed out of my chamber. It was only when they were out of my room that I rubbed my temples and rested my head against the headrest of the bed.
