Teasing the Wolf

Moon can feel Colin walking a few feet behind her, and she knows she needs him to show her to her room. She stops and turns to face him now that she has put some space between herself and Doctor Lewis. Colin looks at her a moment standing in the hall, and Moon has the impression that she is on the menu until her stomach growls loudly. Colin gives a small smile and even chuckles slightly. Moon is still unaccustomed to him laughing and smiling much. She has noticed that the more people he is with, the more guarded he seems. His voice brings her out of her musing.

“Good thing I’m having something brought up from the kitchen for you to eat. Let’s show you to your room.” Colin starts walking closer to Moon; she can smell him and feel his warmth. Moon is feeling hungry, but she is still determining what she is hungry for.

Kiara was quiet in Moon’s mind but being close to Colin has the wolf prancing in her mind again. Moon knows Doc is right, and clearly, being around Colin helps bring Kiara to the surface more, but Moon is finding herself more and more afraid and unsure of it. She always wanted a wolf, but now that she has one, it feels so strange to her.

It will get better. You have to trust me. Once we can shift, we will feel more complete. Kiara could feel and hear Moon’s thoughts, and that is another thing Moon is struggling to get accustomed to. Her thoughts had always been her own, and now someone knew everything she thoughts all for her worries, and as soon as she and Colin complete the bond and mark each other, they will be able to feel any strong emotions the other has as well.

“You know you scrunch your face when you are thinking. Care to tell me what is going on in there?” Colin’s voice is low and laced with concern. Moon looks over at him and smiles sweetly.

“I was just thinking a bath and food would be really great,” Moon says a little too innocently.

“You know you are a bad liar.” Colin was unamused with her keeping things from him, but he was trying to be patient. He felt that Moon wasn’t in the habit of telling anyone what she was thinking. Colin is familiar with not getting close to people, but Moon acts like she hasn’t a care in the world most of the time, and seems close to everyone. Clearly, that isn’t the case.

“I will make you a deal. You be honest with me, and I will be honest with you. I won’t think of you any differently if you talk to me.” Colin is gentle with his tone and words, and Moon pauses a moment. She had gotten so used to keeping her thoughts and feelings to herself over the years that it was second nature to her to keep things to herself. When she was young, people had a hard time taking her too seriously because of her over-the-top nature. They just seemed to think she was joking or just being Moon again.

“I’m sorry I… I don’t know… I don’t think I meant to keep things to myself; I just got so used to figuring things out on my own. When Gramps died, I lost the one person that wanted to sit and listen to me.” Moon tries to explain.

“I want nothing more than to listen to every thought and every word you could ever want to say, Moon.” Colin is so sincere, and he looks at her with more warmth than Moon even thought he had. Kiara is practically a melted puddle of a wolf in her mind, and Moon is close to melting as well.

As they reach the last floor, Moon finds they are on the alpha floor now and walking down the hall. All of the dark wood doors are closed, and Colin leads her to the end of the hall. Two large double doors sit at the very end of the hall, and Moon can only guess that it is Colin’s room. She is instantly curious about what it looks like in there.

They are walking straight for the door, and Moon thinks for a moment that she might find out. When he stops and opens the door to the left, she is a little disappointed, and she mentally kicks herself. She did ask for her own room. Now she isn’t so sure, every part of her craves being near him, and she knows it will be that way until they mate and mark each other. Even after that, she will want to be with him as much as she can be.

It’s a rush just to be near him, and she feels her heart pound, and her skin aches to be closer to him. She’s wondering if it’s as bad for him. He must feel what she feels. If he does, how can he look so calm? Moon has difficulty keeping her face relaxed and not letting everything she feels and thinks flash across her face like a neon sign.

“This is your room. I think I will let you get settled, and maybe you would like to join me for dinner tonight?” Colin looks as if he’s begging her, and the thought that she might say no would crush him. Dinner seems so long away to Moon, but it’s better than nothing, and she knows he has other things to do than stay waiting around for her. She would be lying if she said she hadn’t imagined spending the day with him. He seems to be the only thing she can think about.

Moon just nods a little, not trusting her voice, and steps toward the room. Colin blocks the door with his arm. Moon looks up at him, a little surprised that the turmoil of emotions in his eyes is so plain to see, and so is Farrell, who is clearly fighting to get to the surface. Moon smiles at him, and at that moment, she decides to tease the poor wolf just a little. Pecking him quickly on the lips and then darting into her room, closing the door as he blinks a few times a confused look on his face.

“See you at dinner.” Moon chirps, smiling at his confused frustration as she closes the door. She knows it’s a bit mean of her to tease him, but she couldn’t help but have a little fun with all of this. Plus, what’s the harm in leaving him wanting just a little anyway. Moon is sure she will pay for her antics at some point, but it’s a price she’s willing to pay.
