Chapter 677

“Time flies. Before you know it, we've all aged, and the kids have grown up.

I've been dreaming much about my childhood lately, always trailing behind you like a little shadow, begging you to play with me, sister. You knew how competitive I was and always let me have my way. During our games, you'd let me win every time...

Her eyes were misty with tears as she spoke, dabbing at the corners with a tissue.

Jessica patted her hand gently. "There's no hurdle in life that you can't overcome. You'll get through this. Just take it easy, and you'll heal up in no time.’

Tanya looked down, her gaze filled with sorrow. “The one person I can't let go of is Skyler. If he were well, he'd probably be married with kids by now."

"Don't worry Jessica assured her. "When he's ready to get married, I'll help him choose a girl from a good family, someone cultured and gentle who can take good care of him:

Tanya sighed. "I hope that day comes.”

Leopold strolled back home with Skyler, who was happily munching on a roast turkey leg.

Hunger had struck Skyler after a walk in the garden, and Leopold got hima turkey leg from the kitchen.

"Leopold, this turkey leg is so good... but I gotta tell you, Aurelia makes them even tastier.” Leopold's smile was charming. "My wife's got the magic touch. She's a real domestic goddess’ Skyler blinked, looking puzzled. Wasn't Leopold's wife that clingy and annoying woman?

"Leopold, how many wives do you have?”

Leopold choked on his response. That was a topic best left untouched for the time.

"Skyler, don't you want a wife?"

Skyler pulled a face. “I'm just a kid. What use would I have for a wife?"

Leopold chuckled. "A wife could play with you and cook delicious meals.”

He gestured vaguely. "All I want to do is hang with William. And if I want something tasty, Aurelia will cook it for me. Wives seem like a hassle... if they get upset, you have to cheer them up. They might nag like an old lady and pick fights. That's too much trouble. No. I don't want a wife. I hate hassle."

Leopold couldn't help but laugh. Skyler wasn't totally clueless, but his mischievous nature showed he loved his freedom and shirked responsibility.

"Alright, when you're ready for a wife, I'll help you with it,, Leopold offered.

As they reached the main hall, Jessica had already arranged a room for Tanya to rest in.

Tanya took her son's hand. "Skyler, come to the room with me. I want to chat with you.’

Skyler shook his head as if it were on a spring. "I wanna stay here... play with Leopold.”

Tanya frowned slightly. “Alright then.”

She beckoned to her assistant, Sierra, a sweet-faced girl with rosy cheeks and an innocent look about her.

"This is Sierra, my new assistant. She knows lots of games. She can keep you company:

"Oh." Skyler gave Sierra a covert once-over, wondering if she was clever. He didn't take to dull girls. Jessica accompanied Tanya upstairs.

Sierra blinked her bright eyes at Skyler. "Mr. Skyler, what would you like to play?”

"Let's play poker. With three of us, we can play Texas Hold'em.” Skyler suggested. He'd picked up the game since arriving at Elysium, taught by his friend William.

"Sure," Sierra nodded, familiar with the game.

Leopold produced a deck of cards.

They took turns dealing, and Sierra ended up as the house. Despite her decent hand, she was quickly outplayed by Leopold and Skyler.

After several rounds, she became hesitant to play the house and might as well safely play the role of a fellow player.
