When Skyler stormed back into the Stirling Mansion, he was fuming.

"Skyler, did the plan tank? That wasn't Geoffrey who showed up, was it?"

Skyler just nodded, "That faker tried to slipsTruth Serum to makespill the beans. As if I'd fall for that. Me, the King of

Toxins, poisoned? Not a chance."

He stood with his hands on his hips, pacing back and forth in frustration.

William clapped him on the shoulder. "I figured Geoffrey wouldn't show his face. He's just a sewer rat, stirring up trouble from the

shadows. He doesn't have the guts to cout in the open."

Kane stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Of course, he can't afford to. Once his cover's blown, he can't hide anymore."

"We need to cook up a new plan," said William.

Skyler's eyes, round and bright, flickered with a new idea. "I'll pay a visit to Raines tomorrow."

At the sanatorium. The servant had just finished changing Agent A's diaper, and he pursed his lips in disgust.

Agent A was livid. "You looking to dig your grave?"

The servant shrank back and scurried out the door. Even a paralyzed lord still hold spower. The servant didn't dare cross him.

Agent A was on the brink of madness, each day dragging on like an eternity. And the worst part? It had been weeks with no word

on his antidote.

Then Skyler walked in.

"Raines, I cto see you and brought your favorite apple pie."

The scent alone was enough to make Agent A gag.

"I'm not in the mood for apple pie right now. Take it away."

Skyler cocked his head, a puzzled look on his face. "That's strange. You used to wolf down apple pie like there was no tomorrow.

What happened?”

Agent A was speechless. "I'm not in the mood for anything."

"I'm not feeling too hot, either." Skyler grabbed a stool and sat down next to him.

"Lettell you a secret. My aunt is sick, knocking on death's door sick. I finally got a lead on her whereabouts and wanted to tell

Geoffrey so he could save her, but he was a no-show and sent a decoy to foolinstead. How could I hand over such crucial

information to a fake? No way I'm spilling unless I see the real Geoffrey. Honestly, Geoffrey doesn't care about her. He's nothing but

an ingrate."

Agent A twitched his mouth slightly. "Your aunt's that close to kicking the bucket?"

"Yeah, I overheard Leopold telling my dad. She's in bad shape. They got her a medical team, but they won't bring her home. That

island is her final stop. She probably can't leave unless Geoffrey rescues her."

Skyler twisted his face with disdain. "Pity Geoffrey is a coward, too chicken to show his face, let alone save her. Ah well, she'll just

have to wait out her days on that speck of land. Poor thing."

Agent A clenched his molars. "Geoffrey is your aunt's kid and your twin brother for crying out loud. Doesn't that make you her kid

too? Why don't you save her?"

"I got no boat, no crew, no cash. How am I supposed to save her?" Skyler spread his hands helplessly. "Plus, I've got zero sailing

experience. That place is treacherous. I could end up fish food. I'm not about to sign up for that."

He paused, then added, "Besides, I wasn't exactly her favorite. She doted on Geoffrey and raised him herself. They were tight. If

Geoffrey won't lift a finger to save his mom, then it's up to fate, isn't it?"

Agent A scoffed. "Without her, you wouldn't even be here. She brought you into this world, you owe her."

Skyler shrugged. "I'd love to repay her. That's why I went through hell and high water to find her. But if Geoffrey, with all his

resources, won't save her, what can I do? If you were Geoffrey, would you abandon your mother to save your skin?"
