Chapter 139 I Was Wrong, Mr. Craig

“Ah, there’s no need for that.”

“Hmm?”

Upon hearing Marion’s words, Miley became slightly stressed. “You aren’t planning to leave any room for reconciliation, are you?”

Marion chuckled. “No, It’s just that I can hardly stomach the nonsense she’s spouting. Having her publicly apologize should be sufficient.”

Just a glance at Althea, and Marlon felt a sense of foreboding.

“You’re right! I’ll hang up now. Walt for my good news, Marion!”

Then Miley ended the call.

Marion glanced at her phone and could not help but reflect on her situation.

Perhaps she had been too modest in the past. She sighed and decided not to dwell on it.

The matter was no longer her concern. She knew Miley’s capabilities well. She believed that Althea’s agent would be reaching out to her very soon.

However, compared to that, the immediate priority was figuring out how to appease Lucas, who had suddenly gotten upset.

It was even more challenging than dealing with online conflicts.

Marion propped her chin up, and looked at herself in the vanity mirror, pondering which words might have irritated Lucas.

She lightly tapped her cheek with her index finger, but she still could not figure out which sentence had crossed Lucas’s boundaries.

On the way back, she had only spoken a few sentences. After careful consideration, Marion could not pinpoint which conversation had triggered Lucas’s displeasure.

‘Oh well, no use dwelling on it’ she thought to herself.

Instead, she decided to focus on how to comfort Lucas.

That was even more difficult than a confrontation.

Marion sighed, not bothering with self-reflection any longer. She had other matters to attend to, like soothing Lucas.

Marion let go and stood up to remove her makeup, washed her face, and changed out of her elegant dress into comfortable cotton pants and a short-sleeved T-shirt. Afterward, holding the box of mango -flavored candies in her hand, she went to knock on Lucas’s door.

“Mr. Craig, it’s me.”

Marion knocked twice, but there was no response from inside. Was he really that angry?

Just as she was about to turn and leave, the door suddenly clicked open.

Marion looked at the man standing before her and suddenly regretted knocking.

“Come in.”

He turned and walked back into the room without waiting for her response. What could she do except go in?

Marion felt much calmer as she entered Lucas’s room for the second time.

The man had taken off his coat, but he had not changed his clothes. The top two buttons of his shirt were undone, revealing a glimpse of his chest.

Lucas leaned back on the sofa, legs slightly extended. The unbuttoned collar of his shirt, revealed his well-defined collarbones as he casually leaned back in his seat.

Marion’s gaze swept over him, and her cheeks warmed. Meeting Lucas’s eyes, she felt a nervous

tremor in her hands.

“What’s the matter?”

She quickly placed the box of mango-flavored candies on the table. “A friend brought me two more boxes. Since you like them, this one’s for you.”

She pushed the box toward him.

“Thank you.

Lucas glanced at the candy without much interest, and responded only with a casual ‘Thanks’.

Feeling awkward, Marion said, “Well, lunch will be ready soon. I’ll check with Mrs. Bailey to see what delicious dishes she’s prepared.

The situation was embarrassingly tense. Marion stole a glance at Lucas.

He was looking at her but remained silent.

Lucas was angry, though she had no idea why.

She bit her lip and said, “I’m sorry, Mr. Craig. I must have done something wrong.”

Even though she did not know what she had done, a preemptive apology seemed like a good idea.
