Chapter 27 

Sally, who returned to her office, dealt with her work as if nothing had happened. 

It seemed as though everything that had just occurred had nothing to do with her. 

Howard watched her busy figure in the office, feeling even more suffocated in his chest. He strode towards Sally’s office. 

“Mr. Logan, I believe there must be a misunderstanding here. Ms. Sally would never do something that would betray you, as Ms. Grace described. She’s not that kind of person.” Alex hurriedly caught up, anxious to explain for Sally. 

In reality, he was afraid things would escalate to violence. 

No man could tolerate being cuckolded. 

Howard halted his steps and looked sharply at Alex. “It seems like you know Sally quite well?” 

“I just feel that something is amiss. Everyone knew back then that Ms. Sally loved you. How could she leave and break off the engagement right before the wedding?” Alex whispered, keeping his head low. 

His heart had reached his throat. 

The current Mr. Logan was like a fierce lion, chilling to the bone. 

Howard gave him a cold glance and turned around, striding

Alex let out a sigh of relief. But upon seeing Sally in the office, his heart leaped back into his throat. 

Please, don’t let there be bloodshed. 

Once inside, Howard pulled down the blinds, making it impossible to see what was happening from the outside. 

Sally watched Howard’s actions and her expression instantly became anxious. “Mr. Logan, do you… need something?” 

Howard forcefully pulled off his tie and threw it onto the sofa. He also discarded his suit jacket on top of it. The top two buttons of his shirt were already undone, revealing his well- defined chest. 

The sleeves of his shirt were rolled up to his elbows, each movement exuding a captivating charm. 

Sally swallowed hard and her expression grew even more tense. She stared directly at Howard, who was getting closer step by step, and instinctively backed away. “Mr. Logan, what… what are you planning to do?” 

Surely, he wasn’t going to kill her to keep her quiet? 

After all, most men couldn’t tolerate being cuckolded, and Howard was no ordinary man. 

Howard’s face remained cold, and he didn’t speak. Step by step, he closed in on Sally. 

With no retreat, Sally was cornered against the wall.

Sally kept her head down and remained silent.

Seeing her like this, an unexplained rage surged within Howard. He grabbed her chin, forcing her to look directly at him. “You were quite eloquent just now. What’s the matter? Cat got your tongue?” 

“I’m sorry.” Sally lowered her gaze, her voice filled with a hint of choking. 

Howard tightened his grip on her even more. “So, everything Grace said earlier is true?” 

Tears welled up in Sally’s painful eyes, but she didn’t utter a word. 

To her, it made no difference whether it was true or not. 

The more she remained silent, the less control Howard had over his explosive anger in this moment. 

“Sally, you’ve become quite capable,” Howard said, looking at her with a hint of disappointment. He forcefully pushed Sally away and left in anger. 

For the past six years, he had exerted all his efforts to find her, wanting only one outcome. But he never expected it to turn out like this. 

Despite hating her to death, when he looked at her, he couldn’t bring himself to harm her. He despised himself for being this way. 

Sally collided with the wall, feeling intense pain in her back and forehead. She watched Howard’s departing figure filled with anger, and she felt as though her entire being had been emptied. She slumped to the ground, unable to stop the tears streaming down her face. 

The strength she had built over the past six years, along with her sharp edges, disappeared before Howard. 

Especially her sealed–off heart, which still throbbed with pain due to Howard’s every word and action.
