Chapter 1069

“No, of course, Corentin has to be responsible for what he did.”

Tina pondered, so she was not even mad at her. Would she not feel threatened by her? Though, she knew that she could not compete with her.

“I heard your name is Ashlynn. They address you as Ms. Thompson. What a dreamy, beautiful name.”

Ashlynn chose to ignore her underlying meaning.

She reckoned that Tina was trying to suggest that Ashlynn was like a dream to Corentin, beautiful but would disappear as soon as he woke up.

In fact, Ashlynn wished things to be this way, but would Corentin allow that to happen?

When Ashlynn arrived at the office, Corentin was already there.

The first thing she did was pour him a cup of coffee.

She entered the office. Corentin was not sitting before his desk but on the couch

Ashlynn then put the coffee down on the coffee table.

"Why is the assistant arriving much later than the boss?” Corentin asked.

Ashlynn stood politely and said, “I am sorry, sir. I was too tired last night and woke up late today. Plus, you really should wake me up.”

Corentin looked at her and did not say anything.

“I will get the rug to clean things up.” Ashlynn then turned and went away.

Soon, she returned with a rug, and wiped the table, organized the folders, and wiped the window, the cabinet, and the coffee table. She was working with total seriousness.

When her rug was going through a corner of the coffee table, it was stepped on firmly by Corentin. “Sir?” Ashlynn was confused.

“How are you girls coming along?” Corentin asked.

Ashlynn knew what he meant. “Pretty good. We had breakfast this morning.”

“I had never known that you were such a noble person.”

“I had lost hope for you a long time ago, so no matter which woman you were looking for, and whichever woman that you give birth to, it is your problem and is not related to me,” Ashlynn said calmly.

There was not a single change in her tone.

Corentin’s face looked like a thunderstorm was about to happen, then he laughed as his mouth twitched.

He stepped on the rug, then raised his upper body and pinched her jaw at the same time. “Are you throwing a tantrum at me? Ash, don’t you dare make me feel bad, do you know that?”

Ashlynn looked into his eyes. “Corentin, do you still have a heart? Your offspring will be a bad one, and he will forever be bad.”

"If the parents are bad, we should not expect the kid to be excellent. However, if that is our kid, 1 will try to be a good father, teach him how to read and write, and teach him how to be a good person. Ash, I have in fact fantasized about it before...” Corentin’s face was wearing an incomprehensible expression.

Ashlynn’s heart wrenched slightly. In fact, more of what she felt was hatred.

She stood up and turned to leave the office, almost as though she was running away.

Corentin’s body leaned back, and his face was dark.

He did not care if that woman would give birth to his child, but Ashlynn must!

Ashlynn ran to the toilet and looked at her miserable self in the mirror. The more she looked at herself, the more she hated.

If there were anything that could make her feel emotionally burdened, it would be the

fact that she had lost her child before.

It was because it was induced labor.

She could still vividly remember the feeling of having her kid removed from her body.

It was such a sick thought!

Why must he want her to give birth to a kid?

That night, at the dining table, Corentin was around, and so were Ashlynn and Tina.

One man, two women.

It felt as though he was hugging them left and right.

Ashlynn decided to apply cold treatment in this case.

Corentin did not say a word, and Tina did not dare to make a sound too.

However, Tina was happy deep down.

It meant that her status was higher than that of Ashlynn because she could live with them as soon as she got here and even dine with them.

As long as she could give birth to her child, she could have everything she wanted. Ashlynn alone was no threat to her.

“I am full. Please continue.” Ashlynn placed her cutlery down and then left the dining room to look for Chichi.

However, she found Chichi curling up in its kennel and not moving.

"What happened? Chichi?” Ashlynn carried Chichi out and realized it was not moving at all, its head dangling. “Are you sick?”

She immediately looked for the driver and got him to send it to the veterinarian.

Corentin walked out. “What's up?”

“Chichi is not feeling well. I am bringing it to the veterinarian.”

“Let's go.” Corentin entered the car.

Ashlynn did not argue but entered the car too.

Tina came out of the house and asked the maid beside her unhappily. “Where are they going?” “Chichi is sick. They are bringing it to the veterinarian.”

"He gives so much attention even to a dog?” Tina could not understand, but an idea germinated in her.

Chichi was sent to the veterinarian and immediately sent to the emergency room. Ashlynn and Corentin waited outside.

After half an hour, the doctor came out. “Did you feed it with chocolate?”

Ashlynn had to work during the day, and she did not know what Chichi had eaten. The servants should know that dogs cannot eat chocolates!

She did not question Corentin but asked the doctor, “Is Chichi okay? It will be fine, won't it?”

“I have given Chichi an injection, and it has taken its medicine. We will keep Chichil

here for one night to continue observing. It should be fine if it can make it past tonight.”

If it could not make it past tonight, that would be good as dead.

Ashlynn and Corentin went back home.

Ashlynn was worried about Chichi.

“Don’t worry, Chichi will be fine,” Corentin consoled her.

Ashlynn did not say anything but merely looked out the window, feeling down.

As soon as they got home, Corentin inspected, “Who fed Chichi with chocolate today? Please stand out.”

The butler looked at one of the maids.

The maid came out timidly. “It's... It's me, but... but I did not give Chichi the chocolate.

It was... It was Ms. Sparks who gave Chichi the chocolate...”

Ashlynn was shocked. Tina Sparks? What was she trying to do?

“Ask her to come out,” Corentin ordered.

The maid went to get Tina.

Soon, Tina came in with her bump. Her eyes were filled with joy when she saw Corentin. “I heard that Chichi is sick. What happened? Is it okay? It must be okay already since you are back so soon, mustn't it?"

“Did you feed Chichi with chocolate?” Corentin looked at her darkly.

"Yes, I did. Why?" Tina admitted.

Ashlynn asked, “Did you not know that dogs cannot consume chocolate?”

“Dogs cannot consume chocolate. Why?” Tina then realized. “Chichi fell sick because it ate my chocolate? No way, I am so sorry, I did not know..."

Was she innocent if she did not know about it?

Ashlynn looked at her innocent face and then did not say anything but went upstairs.

Corentin looked at Tina darkly. “You better pray that Chichi is fine.”

Then, he headed upstairs too.

Tina watched as they went upstairs, not feeling a single bit of regret.

Yes, she deliberately fed the dog with chocolate. Did they not know that they should not keep a dog around a pregnant woman?
