I wiped my forehead with the back of my hand as I looked at my hard work. Aiden had gone a little overboard with Galaxy at the store. They ended up buying everything needed to completely redo her room, as well as fill the baby’s nursery. I had just finished putting everything in Galaxy’s room together.

The room was filled with whites and grays. Her new bed was in the farthest corner of the room with a white dresser next to it. Her new toys were scattered across the floor. Aiden even convinced me to buy her a mini ball pin. It was cylindrical and light gray; the balls were all white. There was a fuzzy dark gray carpet in the middle of the room. A net was hung in the opposite corner of the bed that held about twenty-five stuffed animals. Most of them were gifts that Aiden and I agreed to keep in better condition.

“Galaxy!” I called while sticking my head out of the door. “Come see your room.”

The stomping of little feet could be heard as Galaxy ran down the hall. She stepped into the room and her eyes grew wide instantly. “Wow!” She squealed happily. She ran to her bed and struggled her way onto it. She stood up and started to jump. “Big gurl bed! Big gurl bed!” she began to chant.

I walked over to her, picked her up, and gently slammed her down onto the bed. She giggled loudly and began to stand again but I stopped her. “Now listen. You cannot jump on this bed alright? You could get hurt.”

She nodded and got up from the bed. She grabbed my hand and began to drag me out of the room. She led me to Aiden’s old room, which we turned into the nursery.

The design of the room was similar to Galaxy’s but had fewer toys and no ball pin. The crib was white, we would’ve given the baby Galaxy’s old crib, but Aiden was worried she would get jealous. The changing station matched the crib as did the rocking chair.

“You did a great job love,” I said to Aiden as I wrapped my arm around him.

He grinned at me and took my hands in his and brought them to rest on his stomach. He opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted by Galaxy gently putting her hands on his stomach as well.

“I can’t wait for him to come into this world.” He whispered. “Our baby boy.”
