Chapter Seven

Hailey’s POV

As I walked along the empty corridors towards my locker I felt weak and a weird sensation in my hands and arms. School had finished an hour back but I had stayed to do some homework in the library. But in reality that was an excuse; I just didn’t want to go home.

Firstly Liam and none of the others had come to school like they promised. And even Kevin and Ethan had left before lunch and didn’t have the audacity to tell me. I found out by asking their classmates. Though it wasn’t a big deal I felt this surge of anger and irritation consuming me.

Secondly I had this weird feeling as if I was on fire. My temperature was above normal. I was sweating profusely. So I stayed to cool off. My phone buzzed many times but I just sent a text telling that I’ll be late and switched it off.

“Why I’m I feeling so hot. I just feel like as if my hands are on fire.” I mumbled to myself.

And then the most unexpected and horrible thing happened. The homework papers in my hand caught fire. Stunned and scared I dropped them and watched as it turned to black ash.

“What the hell just happened? OH MY GOD!” I whisper-yelled in complete disbelief. I must be going crazy.

I looked at my hands and saw that they were on fire and I mean actually on fire. I ran to the bathroom and put my hand under the tap and let the cold water run on my hands. Pulling it back I noticed that my hands were absolutely fine. No nasty burns. NOTHING. At this point I was confused and terrified.

Walking out of the bathroom I made my way to my locker, quickly took my bag and sped out of the school to my car. As I slowed down to a walk I glanced at the sky. It was sunny and the sun was worsening my condition. I started sweating freaking buckets

“Please just rain today.” I begged to no one in particular.

As I started walking to my car, I felt a drop on my cheek. I abruptly stopped and the next second it started pouring like cats and dogs. I was drenched completely. The cool water was so relaxing and it cooled my body temperature. Oh boy it felt so good!

But suddenly I stood up straight and realized what just happened. Was it a coincidence that I had wished for it? I mean it’s May, how could it rain. What was happening to me? Without thinking I rushed to the car, started it and drove it home. The rain didn’t stop, the sky had turned black and the sound of thunder filled my ears. I pulled up at the driveway and ran to the door and entered.

The next second I was pulled into in a bone crashing hug by Liam. As I looked over his shoulder I saw Nate, Kevin, Ethan and Tyler staring at me with worried expressions on their face.

“Where the hell were you Hailey?” Liam yelled, I could hear the worry in his tone.

“You scared us baby girl” Nate spoke softly reaching for my cheeks.

I don’t know what happened next but I started shaking with anger and rage. All logic just flew out the window and all I felt was pure, raw anger.

“Oh really, I scared you. What about me? I didn’t see you’ll the entire day. No news. I called you a million times. But no answer. I was scared that something must have happened to you’ll. You should have fucking called and told me if you guys were fine. Well that didn’t cross your mind” I screamed.

By now I had tears of anger in my eyes. They stared at me as if they had seen a ghost. After snapping out of his gaze Nate moved towards me. I mirrored his action and stepped back. I raised my hand and said,

“I’m not feeling good. Just leave me alone.” After a pause I said “Please”

Then I walked to my room without looking back. I slammed my door and locked it. Why did I yell? I wasn’t even that angry just pissed. What had come over me? I never yelled at them before. They must hate me now.

I walked to the window and saw the sky filled with lighting and thunder.

“Please stop this rain.” I whispered.

And as I expected the sky cleared and the sun streamed through the clouds. Though I was confused, I felt a smile creep up my lips. I turned back and entered the bathroom. Stripping I entered the shower and it made me feel good. The warm water calmed me. I felt this sense of new power spread through my veins. It felt foreign yet something was familiar about it.

After my shower I put on shorts and a tank top. I laid down on my bed and thought of everything that happened today.

After hours of thinking and trying to figure out my problem, I couldn’t come to a reasonable answer. All I knew and understood was that some how I could control fire and water. A little bit excited I sat up. Snapping my fingers and wishing the flames to come from my hands. I tried different hand gestures but nothing happened. Giving up I laid down again.

I was exhausted. Looking out the window I realized it was dark and the sun had set. I must have been in this room for the past 4-5 Hours. Not bothering to check the time I closed my eyes and instantly felt sleep come over me.

Liam’s POV

9 hours back.

I was with Nate and warriors Xavier, Felix, Stephen and Marcus. We were patrolling the east side of my territory because the scent of rogues were maximum in that area. We had found them near the border sniffing around. They were all ready as if waiting for us. I approached and spoke to them through the mind link.

“What are you mutts doing here?” I said in my alpha tone.

They felt the power flow through me which made them step back but then one brown wolf stepped up and said.

"We are looking for someone. We believe she is here among your pack.”

“Who’s this you speak of? What’s her name?” Xavier questioned.

“We don’t know her name but she is the daughter of Elijah Farcies.” He stated.

As I recalled Elijah was killed along with his wife, those were what the rumors said. But he wasn’t a wolf. Why would they come to wolf pack when he was a ---

“So why do you think she will be here. She is not one of our kind if she is his daughter.” Nate spoke my thoughts.

“We cannot give you’ll information but we ask permission to search your land.” He replied with slight irritation in his tone. This angered my wolf even more. How dare they come into my land and demand to search it.

“Over my dead body” I yelled. I was boiling with anger. The nerve of them you even enter my territory in the first place.

“If that’s what you wish” A black wolf stood and said.

The next thing I know was that the black wolf had pounced on Nate and the brown one charged to me. My pack warriors charged to other three wolfs.

My opponent came straight for my neck, but I dodged him and bit his hind leg. I felt his blood flow into my mouth. He head butted me and I slummed on the tree. The pain stung my back but I got up and charged at him. I tackled him and kept biting him near his muzzle. When my teeth sunk in his shoulder, he whimpered. He kept scratching and trying get away from me but I held him down with my fore feet and sunk my teeth deeper scrapping his shoulder bone. He whined and gave up.

As I held him down, I looked at my pack members making sure they were alright. I saw three wolves lying still obviously dead. They were not my pack members. One of the dead wolves had Silver grey fur and the other two were light brown almost the same.

Nate was holding the black wolf down by his teeth. Marcus and Felix were walking towards me. I glanced at them, for a few scratches and bruised they were fine. Xavier had shifted and was standing near the dead wolves. As I scanned around my eyes feel on Stephen. He was bleeding badly from a wound on his shoulder. His legs gave way and he fell.

“Felix, Marcus Quickly shift and take Stephen back and get him to the pack doctor!” I ordered them.

Felix and Marcus quickly shifted back and put on their shorts which were tied to their legs. Stephen shifted and they carried his limp body and ran to the house.

The black wolf held by Nate tried to free himself and he bit hard on his leg. I heard Nate’s whimper in pain and I rushed to him and pulled the balk wolf off him and sunk my teeth in his neck killing him instantly.

The brown wolf fled as soon as I had left him to help Nate. Instead of chasing him I let him go. At least he got the message that he mustn’t mess with my pack. Xavier started to run after him,

“Let him go. He needs to inform his other mutts that we don’t like them lingering near our territory”. He reluctantly nodded.

“Xavier I need you to stay here. I’ll send some people to help you dispose the bodies.”

“Yes alpha.”

Turning back to Nate, he had shifted and was limping slightly. I licked his wound till it healed. He smiled gratefully at me. I shifted and both of us made our way to the pack house.

As we entered I saw Kevin and Ethan standing near the door talking to Felix. When they saw us they ran to us.

“Nate man you okay.” Kevin asked.

“Yeah I’m fine guys. Just a few scratches.” He shrugged, looking tired.

“What you guys doing here. Aren’t you supposed to be in school?” I questioned.

“Well Tyler wasn’t there and we knew something was up so as to not miss the fun we came.” Ethan answered.

“What about Hailey?” I asked knowing very well that she must be pissed. She knows that the only time I didn’t tell her stuff was when it was too dangerous.

“We didn’t tell her. So I guess you will have to handle her outburst later.” Kevin smirked and said. I signed.

“Fine you guys take Nate to the doc and get him checked and inform Tyler to send men to meet Xavier so as to help dispose off the bodies. I need to go shower.” I said, as they nodded at my order.

I then walk to my room to change and clean the dirt on my body. I was still angry due to the rogue attack. But I let it slide for now knowing that most important thing I needed to do was find this girl they were talking about. They had found her scent here I need to know how and why.

Present time.

As Hailey walked off without a glance at us, I felt hurt and angry at the same time. How dare she raise her voice at her alpha? But what she said hurt me so bad. How do I tell her, the truth?

The reason why we had not showed up at school was we had a fight with 5 rogues at the boundary, and if I had told her that she would freak out. But something was off about her. I will have to find out.

“What is wrong with her? She never has yelled or behaved like that” Kevin asked, I guess he was hurt too.

Nate looked at him and nodded.

“Yeah something is wrong. She won’t be so angry just because we ditched her.” Tyler said, signing and looking at me.

“Let her cool off, tomorrow we’ll speak to her.” Ethan suggested.

All of us agreed. At that minute Xavier and Felix entered.

“How is Stephen?” Nate asked them.

“He is stable now.” Felix answered.

I turned to Tyler, my pack warrior, “Okay you go set up groups to patrol the night. I don’t want another attack.”

He nodded and left. Felix, Xavier, Kevin and Ethan followed him.

Nate turned to me, “Hey mate come on to my room and relax. It has been a long day.” I nodded and followed him.

And don’t worry about Hailey she will come through. She loves you man. Chill.” He smiled reassuringly. I smiled back and replied,

“I decided I’ll make it up to her and take her for a date. Anyways our 3 year anniversary is in three weeks.” I said hopefully.

“That’s good man. Now go relax, I’ll check on Tyler.”

He left and I laid down on the bed thinking of Hailey. I missed her in my arms. I wanted to go to her but I knew she wouldn’t open the door. I hated these fights I had with her.

As I felt sleep take over me, I closed my eyes and the last thing I thought of before I was out,
