Chapter 10

Aurora’s Pov

The full moon blitzed through the oak trees and pine trees, illuminating the path as my feet stomped the ground. Debris danced under feet and the wind whistled through the trunks and the leaves of the majestic oak trees rustled. I ran deeper into the woods, holding my breath even though I could feel my strength failing and that I could snap out anytime but I gotta live, I gotta save my life.

The dense trees swooshed along as I ran deeper to escape the angry pack of wolves after me. These were supposed to be my people, these were supposed to be the ones I run to but that wasn’t the case for me. I was despised and scorned. Rejected as well. But right now, all I wanted was a savior, who could pull me from this misery.

Heart racing furiously against my ribs, I swallowed hard to calm my shallow breath. Hiding behind. a majestic pine tree with its gnarled twig and leaves canopying over my head. I placed a hand on my chest, to slow my pounding heart. My vision narrowed through the dark quiet woods, the branches and leaves danced under the moonlight. Sometimes I wondered why it should be me, why should I be different?

I was born in a rich influential family, the first daughter of my family. It was said that every first daughter of the four packs in the bloodline ought to be able to transform and mate at the age of 16. but……

My breath hitched. I froze when my eyes trailed over at two pairs of green emerald eyes behind a rough tree bark two feet walkway from where I stood. My breath snapped when those piercing eyes in the dark lingered on mine, causing hot blood to run down my spine. Coosebumps rose on my sleeves as I stumbled out of my hiding place, careful not to topple. My heart was beginning to race again as I was careful not to make a sound.

I pulled away from my hiding place. Those eyes still on me, almost seemed like they were lurking around in the dark. Couldn’t identify who they belonged to and I didn’t know if it was a figment of my imagination, it seemed the more our gaze locked, the closer those eyes became. And for some strange reason, I felt a sense of peace surrounding those eyes. A sense of comfort and calmness. surrounding them. Even though I was on the run for my life, I was somehow allured by them.

Against my instincts and odds, I started my way toward those eyes but unfortunately for me, I stepped on a twig, the sound drifting away in the silence of the night and in the woods. Before I knew it, I heard rushing and heavy steps and I was soon surrounded by a pack of wolves. In their white and black striped fur.

I narrowed my gaze at that bark but those eyes weren’t there any longer. A sound from the wolves surrounding me brought my eyes back to them. In utter fear and despair, I watched one of them shift back into their human forin, under the bright light of the moon. Before me stood my half sister Maya. Her brown dark eyes held a malicious look in them and she was pure unclad before me. The moonlight casted a streak of light across her hair, giving this golden touch on her brown wavy hair.

“Did you think you could outrun us?” Her voice reverberated across the tree barks, her strong voice. sending a shiver down my blood.

I swallowed and hung my head. No matter how I tried to fit in. I wasn’t one of them. I will never be one of them.

“Without your wolf abilities, you can’t……” She squeezed her face in a way that said she despised me. She threw me a repulsive look and drew closer to me. trailing some fingers along my black hair before wrapping her fingers around them and jerked my face to look at her. I winced in pain but I did not try to say a word against her.

“At this point, you are nothing but a plain human. Every first daughter of the packs ought to be able to shift and transform into their wolf self but yours is….reverse is the case. You are of no use to the pack and the family!

“Just like your mother, you are better off dead, her eyes gleamed with scorn and hatred. Her hate filled words slithered through me, making my chest tightened in pain when she called my mom’s name. No matter what, she shouldn’t disregard my mom. I was three years old when I lost my mother.

The pain I was feeling deep down was replaced by anger but I dare not say a word unless I would be snapped dead in an instant. I broke gaze with her and lowered my eyes to the ground, she had let go of my hair and her breathing was raspy. Couldn’t tell if it was because of the hatred she has for me or because

“Yo.cause of the stress they had to go through shifting forms. Or she had to chase me for long.

“You are nothing but useless and useless stuff is to be done away with, you have no place in the

pack,” she cackled and whirled away from me. Her steps swift in majestic pace. “And I would do you the honor of putting you out of your misery.”

“A wolfless and matless being like you can’t be my father’s daughter. She concluded and shifted back to her wolf self. Watching her do that so flexibly, and without trouble made me envious. Why couldn’t I do that? Why couldn’t I transform into a wolf at the age of 16?

The pain I was feeling earlier rode back as my half sister in her wolf form and the rest of her pack cornered me. Ready to devour and do with me as they pleased. They closed in on me like ravaging dogs prompting me to stumble, landing on my butt. I was filled with trepidation as I shut my eyes, waiting for the worse to happen to me but I couldn’t feel any physical pain instead a deep shrill laced with pain echoed through the woods. Another angry and pained howl followed through.

Anxiously, I slowly squinted my eyes open and to my utter shock and surprise, my eyes fell on a huge deadly animalistic looking creature. A wolf clad with pointy black fur, his mouth parted, showing his pointed fangs as he lurched at my half sister and her pack. His b*dy and the look on his face had a beastly demeanor surrounding them but I froze on the spot when he snapped his eyes in my direction and they were those emerald green eyes I saw earlier.

A deep loud growl escaped his mouth when one wolf from the pack attacked him, biting his fur covered arm. Angrily, he sent the wolf flying with one slap. My half sister and the rest of the pack continued to lurch attacks on him like minions attacking some huge creature.

Chapter 10

Puzzled by the scene before me. I couldn’t verbalize what was going on. Why would this horrifying looking wolf with emerald green eyes save me but at the same time, I couldn’t watch and see this creature snap the life out of my sister. I know I should melt out the same hatred she melted on me but I couldn’t let her meet her end with this creature that was either a wolf or a beast.

She was still my father’s daughter. I gaped with horror filled eyes as the creature snapped the lives out of the pack or sent them flying deep in the woods, leaving only my sister at his mercy.

My sister was on the ground, moaning in pain. Slowly reverting back to her human form, clutching a side of her stomach the half wolf and half beast looking creature inflicted pain on. I knew I owed him my life but I couldn’t watch and see him inflict more pain on her.

As the creature howled toward the moon. He was about to drive his fangs into my sister’s b*dy, to send her to demise. Without knowing where my strength came from, 1 dived toward my sister, shielding her with my b*dy.

I felt an immersed pain and something in me when his pointy fangs dug into my right shoulder. The pain I felt traveled around my b*dy, completely weakening my pulses and at the same time, awakening something in me. It stirred and destroyed my insides at the same time, making it impossible to decipher what was going on within me.

My breath was shallow yet rasp, wincing with pain as the painful bite transported all over my b*dy. Weakening every part of my b*dy. My b*dy was slowly shutting down when I turned on my back and stared at the full moon. A single tear rolled down the corner of my eyes with my gaze fixated on the moon.

If it would be just for once. Just once…

I slowly shifted my gaze to my sister. She has shifted completely to her human form but her b*dy was covered in blood and bruises and she was unconscious. But I was grateful for one thing, though my vision was failing me, I saw her b*dy rise and fall. She was still breathing. She’s alive.

My gaze lingered on her as I struggled to keep my eyes open even though my vision was becoming foggy. This was my sister but never knew why she hated me. Why does she have so much bitterness for me? Will she have given herself if I were in her state?

The creature was no longer in sight but I heard a distant rustling in the dense trees.

My breath was short yet raspy as my vision continued to damper but then I saw something on my arm. A strange looking hair started to erupt but too weak to figure it out before my eyes closed and I was met with utter darkness.

“Hey, hey,” I fought against my eyelid to open them when a voice called. Slowly I squinted my eyes open, bright lights blitzing through my eyelid. I shut my eyes and reopened them. Adjusting them to the unfamiliar room as a voice echoed in the background. “You okay?”

I felt like something strong and warm around me, as I failed to comprehend where I was. I let out a scream when my eyes fell on two pairs of emerald green eyes. Trying to scramble away.

Chapter 10

“Hey, calm down. It is me.”

“Stay away from me!” My brain took the initiative to save myself first before it could understand the situation. I intensified my scream and pushed the warm skin against me. Scrambling from those eyes. How did it find me here?

I was panicking. My b*dy was shivering. Pushing away from the creature while it kept coming forth.

“Hey, relax. I said it’s me, Ott

At the mention of that name, my foggy vision started to clear and I realized it wasn’t the creature but Otto who was there.

Otto?”
