He Is Not Alone
Chapter 16

After getting back to the campground, Will and Amy quickly pack up the two rigs and decide to head north towards Canada. By crossing the border, they hope that the FBI won’t be able to find them and give them some time to figure out how they were found and what to do about it. By Friday evening, they are camped near the border at Cedars RV Resort.

Once they are set up, Will and Amy talk about the events so far and decide to get rid of one of the RVs. It doesn’t appear that the FBI knew about their living at the campground, but it wouldn’t take much for them to learn about their living conditions and the details about their rigs. Nothing was written down about their RVs when they signed into the campground other than size and number of slide outs. However, having lived there for many months, someone was sure to be able to describe the make and models when asked. After thinking about it they decided to sell both rigs and purchase a new one.

Saturday morning, Will and Amy drove to an RV dealer in Mt Vernon, WA. With Will’s money they were able to pick up a 2013 Entegra Coach Cornerstone 45K, trade-in both of their RVs and have the manager agree that since it was a cash deal, the paperwork would disappear. Apparently, the manager didn’t like the authorities very much. The only names that were given were for the consignment of the trade-ins. The purchase of the new RV was done with a false name. With Washington state tags, Will and Amy were pretty sure they could disappear again. Later that day, they packed up the rigs, drove to the RV dealer, transferred their stuff from the old to the new and headed to Canada, leaving the USA behind for now.

The Entegra is a diesel pusher, which means the engine is in the back. The floor plan included a front entry with two sofa/sleepers in the living area followed by the kitchen on the curbside and dinette on the roadside. Next to the dinette was a potty in a closet, the bedroom complete with a king-size bed came next. The rear of the rig had the main bathroom with wall to wall closet and walk-in shower. All the furniture was cowhide leather and the woodwork was stained a light cherry wood color.

Even though Amy and Will had been traveling together for some time and worked at the wildlife preserve, ate every meal together and were never out of each other’s sight, they had not slept together. That was not to say that there were no feelings for each other. Moving in together was a big deal, not so much for Amy but for Will.

Amy had decided a while ago when she first approached Will in Louisiana that Will was going to be hers someday. Will was attracted to Amy as well, but he was old-fashioned and wanted to make sure Amy felt the same way he did. As they settled into the new rig, the subject of sleeping arrangements had to be addressed.

“Amy, I know this is kind of sudden and all, so I will sleep out in the living room while you have the bedroom. Is that okay?”

“Will, we have known each other for a long time now. We eat, work, travel and spend all of our waking time together. I made up my mind back in Louisiana that you are the one for me. I think it is long past time we take this to the next level. You are the only guy for me and I hope I am the girl for you. Sleep with me.”

“Amy, I have known you were the one for me since Texas. I would love to sleep with you, but I have to know something first. Will you marry me?”

“Aren’t men supposed to have a ring or something when they propose?”

“If you will have me, I will gladly buy you the biggest engagement ring you can find.”

“In that case, YES, Will, my answer is YES!”

We stop for a couple of days at Vancouver RV Park before heading up the Alaska Highway to Anchorage, AK. I am a planner. This is a trip of over 2000 miles over roads I have never been on before. Amy apparently is a put the rig in gear and go, girl. We agree on traveling 250 miles a day and keeping the tanks full just in case. Before crossing the border, I managed to grab some cash. We didn’t want to leave a credit card trail until we figured things out.

Amy and I spend a few days stocking up on supplies, maps and gathering information on roads and traveling to Anchorage. The trip to Anchorage took us about 9 days. Many of those days were dry camping. Once we hit Anchorage, we decided to head to Fairbank for a smaller town feel. It is mid-July when we finally settle down at the Rivers Edge Resort.

RV living is not going to be an option during the winters in AK. Amy has found the perfect solution; she takes a job as a wildlife outreach coordinator which comes with a cabin out in the wilderness outside of Fairbanks. The RV is placed in inside storage outside of Fort Wainwright Army base.

Summer is kind of cool in this part of Alaska. The days are long and not overly hot. The bugs, however, are murderous. I have never seen mosquitoes so large and hungry. Oh and apparently, they do not have brains that we can control.

Amy is enjoying her job. She is spending most of the days in the field. Her job is to work with animal conservationists to ensure that there is a healthy and viable herd of animals around the Fort Wainwright area.

We are both still concerned about the FBI. We are in an area where visitors are pretty scarce. While Amy is at work, I have been thinking about the FBI. I check on Susan and she is still hospitalized. It seems there were other issues besides the ones I created for her.

The only link that I can find is the FBI Director. To say we had a good relationship would be a huge stretch of the imagination. What I can’t figure out is why he wants me dead or alive. I think it might be time to visit Washington, DC and find out what is going on and put a stop to it if I can.

Over the next few weeks, Amy and I discuss the issue with the FBI. The problem we have is I want to go alone and she wants to come with me. As far as we know, the FBI doesn’t have any interest in her and wants me.
