Gone (Book Two of the Dark Lycans Series)
Chapter Thirteen: Memories

Rage filled my body to the brim, and I released a snarl so loud, it shook the entire arena. My lycan took over in my anger, and my eyes burned crimson.

Why are you so different Akira? I ask my lycan.

My name is Ira, I am your Lycan, a voice replies, deeper, and much more powerful than Akira's. Yelling tears me out of my thoughts.

"Raven! Raven!" I heard Shade scream behind me. She was throwing her head against the collar, making blood flow from her neck in result.

My head snapped towards her and Blake, still chained to the wall. Ira growled at the sight of Blake. He was a threat to our position as Alpha.

"Please don't do this! You have to fight this feeling. I did it for you now please do it for me! I know this is not the real you!" Shade shouts at me, tears streaming down her face. I have no control of my body, all I want to do is kill, Shade's voice doesn't affect me at all.

I stalk towards them, hunger in my eyes.

"Please..." Her voice comes out weak, and filled with desperation. My eyes are completely focused on Blake, chained before me.

"No leave him alone!" Shade's voice becomes stronger as she realizes my intentions. My claws slash across his chest, leaving bloody marks.

"Stop, Raven you don't know what you are doing!" A whistle was suddenly blown as I leapt forward in another attack. I felt arms wrap around my waist, catching me in midair.

I growled furiously and craned my neck to see my captor. A man I hadn't seen before was holding me, while others dragged Shade and Blake back to their cells.

My feet dangling above the ground, the man held me as if I were weightless. I grinned hearing a scream from the man as I dug my claws into his arm. He immediately dropped me, and I whipped around.

My canines peeked out from the corners of my lips, and the man's eyes widened in terror. I lunged forward, sinking my teeth into his neck, and ripping out his throat.

Blood dribbled from his mouth, and he let out an incoherent gargle. I laughed as his body fell, and many more guards ran up to restrain me.

They grabbed my arms and I yanked them downward, forcing them together. I heard a nasty crack as their heads collided. They fell to the ground, skulls smashed in.

I made a dash for one of the gates. It began to close, and I slid on the ground, barely making it under. The second gate blocked my path to my destination.

I growled in frustration and gripped the bars tightly. In my anger, I tore the gate from the walls, tossing it behind me.

I smelled the air, searching for Blake and Shade's scents. Finding it, I sprinted through the maze of corridors to their cell. Two guards were positioned on either side of the door.

I could see through the bars Blake with a makeshift tourniquet, and Shade watching me with wide eyes. When I made a move to go inside, and guard raised his hand to stop me.

I grabbed his shoulders and kicked my knee into his gut, right under his ribs. He gasped for breath and fell to the ground. I punched his head and he collapsed onto the hard ground.

A hand grabbed my arm, and I growled before smashing my fist into the mouth of the second guard. A horrible snapping sound filled the air as his jaw was dislocated and broken.

He screamed in pain and I brought my knuckled to his temple, silencing him forever. I heard a small whimper, and my head whipped towards the cell.

Shade was crouched near Blake, fear in her eyes. I opened the cell door and stepped inside. She immediately jumped in front of Blake, and growled at me.

I felt a wave of emotions rush at me, and I looked to the floor, breathing heavily. I saw out of my peripheral vision, Shade's teeth and claws sharpen.

"If you are going to hurt him, you are going to have to rip me to little prices first," she growled with determination. A grin spread across my face when I felt my hunger for blood rise once again.

Shade suddenly gasped in pain, and fell to the floor. I immediately knew exactly what was happening to her. She tried to stand on her wobbly legs, and screamed in pain as her bones started to break.

I watched as sweat and black fur covered her body. Her chains break, and her body begins its shift into her Lycan. Whimpers escape her gritted teeth, and her breathing becomes ragged.

Another wave of pain hits her, and she is sprawled out on the stone floor. I quickly shift and rush over, suddenly feeling the need to help her, as she probably doesn't know what is happening.

She is fully shifted, but she is in extreme pain from the shift, and wobbly on her new feet. I wasn't like this, because I had endured a new shift multiple times, so I knew how to quickly adjust.

I helped her up to her paws, and sit down in front of her. She flinches away from me, but I stroke her black fur, and she slowly relaxes. Her strength is sapped from her body and she collapses into my lap.

Her breathing slows to normal, and my hand starts going over her white hair as she shifts back. She finally stands up after a small struggle, and helps me to my feet. I am suddenly thrown into a flashback from looking into her eyes.

****************

"Hurry up Shade!" I giggle running through the forest.

"Hey no fair! I'm not as fast 'cause you are older!" She yells from behind me.

"By like 4 hours! Now come on, we are almost there." I encourage with a wave. She huffs and follows me toward our house.

We burst through the door to see our mothers laughing together in the kitchen. I walk up to my mother and give her a hug.

"Rave, Shade, are you ready?" Shade's mother, Lily asked us. We nodded eagerly, and she laughed.

"Okay, let's go," my mother said in an excited voice. She grabs my hand, and our mothers lead Shade and I out into the forest.

Shade walked beside me, a goofy grin plastered across her face. I leaned in and whispered into her ear.

"What do you think the surprise is?"

"Something big!" She answered with an animated voice. I nodded in agreement and watched as we weaved through the trees.

We came up to a mountain side that we had seen a million times. There was a cave that lead into a maze of tunnels.

Shade and I were required to memorize where the tunnels led to when we were really young. We were only six, so we were still young. As we were only a few yards from the cave, our mothers suddenly stopped, smelling the air.

My mother's eyes turned gold, and Shade's mother's eyes did as well. I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion, and suddenly the smell of rogues and Lycans filled the air.

Lycans had a very peculiar scent, the same that Shade, and I had, along with our mothers. I growled, and got in front of Shade.

The sound of footsteps filled our ears and rogues and Lycans burst through the trees. At the head of them, I felt as if I knew the tall, muscled man with dark hair.

"Fenrir Corvinus," Shade's mother spat. Realization flooded through my head as I remembered the name, the man at the front was my father.

My mother never talked about him, but I overheard her talking to Aunt Lily. All I could feel was disgust and hatred for the man that was before me.

My eyes were swirling red and gold, and I glared hard at him.

"What are you doing here?" My mother growled. He raised an eyebrow at her, before his eyes snapped to meet mine.

"I want my daughter, my neice, my mate and her sister. I want us to be a family again," he said holding his arms out. Even Shade and I could see the lie as clear as day.

I snorted, and looked to Shade, who was agreeing with me silently.

"You have grown so strong Raven, I can't imagine what you would be like if you were trained properly," he said taking a step towards me. I growled at him, and felt Shade press in closer to me.

"Get away from us. You are a sick man, I can't believe I got a mate like you. Now leave," My mother snarled.

"Never, you belong to me, and I am going to take you with me," he growled, lips curled into an evil grin. He jerked his head in a quick nod, and the rogues and Lycans around him leaped towards us.

Shade and I were pushed back, and our mothers shifted into their Lycans. They were very big, and could stand on two paws. Their claws and teeth slashed and ripped the rogues to prices.

But soon, there were 4 other Lycans that shifted, and snarls and growls filled the air. Blood covered my mother and her sister, and Shade gripped my arm tightly.

Our eyes met, and we immediately knew what the other was thinking. My hand reached for the waistband of my shorts, at the same time as Shade's.

Simultaneously, we pulled out our guns and aimed at the Lycans fighting our mothers. We took the shot at the same time, and two of the beasts fell to the ground. Liquid silver was trickling from the holes in their temples.

We aimed at the other two, but they were already laying dead in the ground.

Our mothers had us learn how to shoot a gun and gave us each one in case of an emergency, as we couldn't shift yet. They had liquid silver, which only affects normal werewolves, but the bullets can still kill a Lycan.

Our guns were still raised as suddenly almost fifty rogues and Lycans appeared from the trees. Shade and I only had ten more bullets between the two of us. We started shooting the men that came toward us, no longer able to help our mothers.

I pulled the trigger to hit the wolf running for Shade, but I had no more bullets. I shoved my gun back into my shorts, and I heard Shade scream. Looking up, I saw her being held by a large man.

I growled angrily and ran to help her. I quickly grabbed my knife from its sheath on my waist, and shoved it into the man's back. He screamed and slumped to the ground, freeing Shade.

I yanked my knife from his back, and wiped off the blood on my shorts. Shade grabbed her knife from her ankle and we turned back to our fighting mothers.

My mother looked at us in panic.

"Run Shade! Run Raven! Go into the cave!" She screamed. I shook my head.

"No! We are not leaving you!" I told her. Our mother's shared a look, tears starting to stream down their faces.

"Raven, run into the cave and don't come out until the fighting is over!" She said. Tears streamed down my face, as she gave me an Alpha command.

Normally I could resist it, but I realized that it was a special command only a mother can give her pup. It would be physically impossible for me to refuse it.

"Shadow, run into the cave and don't come out until the fighting is over!" I heard Lily command her daughter. Shade and I screamed as our bodies were forced to run into the cave.

I watched as Lycans poured into the clearing, restraining our mothers and dragging them away. We screamed for our mothers as they left our sight.

The darkness of the cave quickly enveloped us, and we were tearing through the maze of tunnels. It took a long time to reach a ladder that led further into the moutain.

I climbed behind Shade, and we went deeper into the massive rock formation. I heard footsteps and voices echoing far behind us, but felt the need to hurry.

Shade and I finally reached a silver door, with a code. Shade put it in and we ran inside. I slammed the door shut and locked it.

I ran to the computer sytem and typed multiple codes and passwords. I heard an alarm begin going off as the mountain went under lockdown.

Our mothers created an huge underground facility, complete with one of the best security systems. It was impossible to find tour way through the maze, and there were genetically mutated creatures that helped guard it.

The whole mountain was extremely dangerous when under lockdown mode, there was even a AI that controlled it. I sighed in relief, but tears streamed down my face as I remembered my mother.

I turned to see Shade staring with wide, watery eyes at the bunker. I followed her gaze to see the familiar room with a kitchen, beds, TV, and bathroom, completely decorated.

And I burst into tears again, hugging Shade close to me at the sight of the banner hanging from the ceiling.

It read 'Happy Birthday Raven and Shade!'
