Fire On Fire
Chapter six- Heat

I walked around the room and circled back to him.

I looked up at him and glowered.

Slowly, I realized how I must've looked. I was in my sweats and tank. Yes, no bra, babies on display. I was bear foot, my hair was tangled and I was all scratched up from all the running.

Funny enough, I didn't really have time to change before I got DRAGGED into the mirror. I looked away as heat rose from my neck to my plump cheeks.

If he noticed, he didn't say anything about it.

He just walked over to the closet and tossed me a shirt. I caught it in the air.

"Put this on" he grumbled as he went to take a seat on the creaky bed.

I stuck my tongue out as I pulled the shirt over my head.

"Tch. You act like a child" he rolled his eyes at my little display.

I walked over to him, remembering the little "conversation" we were having before that thing interrupted me.

I put my hands on my hips, furrowed my brows and looked down at him. But when I looked into his eyes, my heart stopped and then started beating so fast I was sure he could hear it. His thick black hair was now wet and curly with sweat.

His grey eyes holding a lot of emotion that he'd managed to hide quite well before. Emotions I couldn't begin to understand.

The long jagged scar on the left side of his face was more pronounced. He swallowed and my eyes moved to his throat, then up his neck and slowly to his lips. I let out a little breath and he raised his brows at me expectantly.

"You were going to say something ?"

I snapped back into reality and my eyes met his.

"Right...uh.." I stuttered.

This seemed to please him because he smirked.

"Yes?" He asked, his voice low and seductive.

I regained my composure and scowled at him.

"Such a pretty face shouldn't give such terrifying looks" he muttered and got up, walking over to the kitchen. He called me pretty...

My belly warmed and tiny butterflies danced at the pit.

"W-well I have some questions for you mister!" I stuttered, God I was hopeless he was so intoxicating.

"Name's Ace" he grunted as he downed a cup of water.

"Well ACE" I put emphasis on his name.

"Why did you bring me here"

"I didn't"

"Don't lie"

"I'm not"

"I saw you stalking me"

He considered it for a minute, then replied "That wasn't me"

"Then how do you explain why he looked exactly like you, and where the fuck am I"

"Wasn't me" he continued, I grew frustrated. He wasn't answering my questions properly. I hated that.

"Listen, I'm tired, and cold, and dirty, and hungry, I just wanna go home, so will you please just" I gestured to the air. He growled and walked toward me.

"I told you, I didn't bring you here"

Why was he being so difficult !?

"You probably saw a shapeshifter, did he have my scar?" he questioned.

Actually now that I think it. He didn't. And he was...Paler too...

So it wasn't him...?

"He didn't..."

"But why would someone wanna be YOU of all people" I huffed, crossing my arms. Great. Back to square one.

Ace sniffed the air. Creep.

"Are you hurt ?" He questioned searching me for wounds. He stopped when he saw my arm.

"Did that thing scratch you ?" he questioned.

"Uhm no" I said "He... Threw a knife at me? " he seemed to sigh, relief passing through his eyes briefly.

"Hell, why didn't you say you were hurt" he stated more than asked, as he led me to the bed.

I didn't resist. The dark part of my mind- actually y'know what? I'd rather not, you probably already know.

He carefully cleaned up my wounds, my scratches and he even cleaned my muddy feet.

I blushed as his hand slowly cleaned up the wound on my arm. I tried to hide my blush by frowning.

He looked so tough but his touch was so soft and gentle. Okay so maybe we got off on the wrong foot? NOT a kitten killer. Maybe.

I swallowed. Remembering how he'd protected me. Maybe I've been a little hard on him.

"Thank you" I muttered, he looked up at me, confusion evident on his face. It looked cute.

"For saving my life and for uh, for this" I finished, my voice barely over a whisper. He really didn't need to do this...

He was looking directly into my eyes. His eyes were alive with... something I couldn't quite describe. His nose was so close to mine.

I could smell his aftershave.

It was so intoxicating.

"Don't mention it" he whispered back. I sucked in a sharp breath.

I winced as he put some kind of oil on the wound on my arm. He looked at me apologetically.

There was something soft in his eyes.

"Sorry" he whispered.

He bowed his head lower and pressed his lips to my wound.

My eyes widened and a jolt of electricity ran up my arm. Am I going crazy? There was something there.... a certain familiarity...

My heart was pounding.

He looked up and moved his face closer. My cheeks were hot, I was hot.

It was HOT.

He pressed his lips on a cut on my cheek.

My belly twisted and warmth spread towards my center.
