Chapter 253 The Plea for Mercy Arrived

He had his back to me, his voice low, "Help me fix my broken hair, I can't reach it."

The hand was so long, how could it possibly not reach?

I had intended to make a sarcastic comment, but catching sight of a few stray hairs sticking to the area around his shoulder blades, I closed my mouth, walked up behind him, and reached up to help him remove them.

Although we had long since performed the marital rites, and during our most intimate moments, had touched each other's bodies countless times, at that moment, a mere few seconds made him stiffen, and I, I couldn't help but blush.

"Done!" I stepped back a few paces after getting rid of the loose hair, speaking in a low voice.

The atmosphere in the room was somewhat ambiguous, and I was afraid that I had no boundaries. Before he could say anything, I turned around, left the room, and went downstairs.

When Odin arrived, he saw me in the living room downstairs. After hesitating for a few seconds, he looked at me and said, "Madam."

Seeing that he seemed to have something on his mind, I pointed upstairs and said, "Walter is upstairs."

When speaking, Walter had already changed his clothes and came down looking neat and tidy. It seemed that he had just had his hair cut and was almost bald, which was inevitably surprising.

P

Odin saw Walter and was momentarily taken aback, his face revealing an undeniable surprise. However, he was after all in charge of many businesses of the Hinton family and was always steady and restrained in his actions. Thus, it only took him a moment to regain his

composure.

Walter naturally noticed his expression, but didn't say much. He just looked at him and asked, "Did grandma wake up?"

Odin nodded, hesitated for a few seconds, and said, "Jacob has arrived, outside the old lady's yard, you might need to go and check."

He spoke subtly, but both Walter and I sensed something was off.

It wasn't surprising that Jacob came, but Odin said he was outside the old lady's yard, not inside.

Thought of the purpose of Jacob's visit.

I didn't talk much with Walter, fearing that Jacob might disturb the old lady without discretion. So, I didn't say much either and went directly to the old lady's yard with Odin.

Rushed to the outside of the old lady's yard, only to see a plump man standing outside the yard, Dale was helping the old lady stand by, the old lady was frowning, probably persuading.

Seeing this, Walter stepped forward and directly asked Jacob, "What is Zhao Ju planning to do?"

Hearing Walter's voice, Jacob quickly looked at him and blurted out, "Walter, I beg you, let my daughter go. She's still young, she can't go to jail, I beg you."

As he was about to kneel, the old lady quickly spoke up, “Jacob, get up quickly. If you have something to say, say it properly. How can you, as an elder, bow to the younger generation? This is bad for your longevity."

As the old lady was about to help, Walter stopped her. He asked Dale to assist the old lady into the house to rest.

After the old lady left, Walter stared blankly at Jacob kneeling on the ground, his face cold as he said, "Pleading with me here is useless, the crime Gianna committed, the person she should be asking for forgiveness is not me."

Hearing his words, Jacob was taken aback and turned his gaze towards me. He was about to bow his head again, but I quickly dodged. Jacob looked at me, his previous arrogance and domineering attitude gone.

At this moment, all was humility, "Mrs. Hinton, I beg you, spare Gianna. She knows she was wrong. Please give her another chance. I promise, she will never mess up again."

I didn't like Jacob as a person, but seeing him kneel down and beg for mercy without any dignity for his daughter, I couldn't help but be moved.

Taking a slight breath, I looked at him and said, "Zhao Ju, I can understand your deep love for your daughter, but I am not the law. I can't just say she doesn't have to go to jail and it happens. You should be grateful that I didn't die. Now she can only be charged with attempted murder. Otherwise, if she was charged with murder, it wouldn't be as simple as just serving a few years in prison."

Despair was written all over Jacob's face as he pleaded with me, "Drop the charges, as long as you drop the charges, she won't have to go to jail. Tell the police that we can settle this privately. I can give you whatever compensation you want, as long as you don't press charges against her, she won't have to go to jail."

I frowned, losing my patience, and said directly, "I won't drop the

charges. Didn't she think about today when she wanted to kill me? Director Zhao, you love your daughter, let her do whatever she wants without discipline, now let the police handle it, it's quite good." After speaking, I went straight into the old lady's yard, ignoring Jacob's pleas.

I didn't want to reconcile, nor would I reconcile. If Walter hadn't arrived then, the person kneeling on the ground, in a pitiful state, crying her heart out now would have been my mother.

We are all born and raised by our parents. Since we made a mistake, we should bear the consequences.

In the yard, the old lady was anxiously looking outside. Seeing me come in, she hurriedly came over and asked, "How did it go? Has the person left?
