Dweller
Chapter 26

My tears are plopping off the ground, my warm tears now cold. Sobbing bounces off the ground making it sound like more than one person was crying. The sound of the patterning of tears goes on for a long period of time, to the point that I’m shocked it's just me in the room.

A big period of time passes to the point where my stomach starts to growl, craving for any sort of substance. It’s been more than 2 days, living out on the street causes food to be more of a harder thing to come by. You would be lucky if you come across even the smallest portion of food.

_______

Eventually a monster is ripping out of my stomach, the growls and gurgles showing its resent the whole time. My hunger is consuming me and the feeling of fatigue slowly comes over me. My body slowly becomes malnourished, I’m slowly losing my strength. The feeling in my legs have gone and all senses in my arms have disappeared.

The feeling of the cold air is gone. The heat of my body is gone. All feeling is gone.

The rattling of keys are heard echoing around me already adding to my confused state. The clunking and rattling of footsteps come closer, surrounding me coming from all directions. The squeaking sound of mice and other rodents can be heard but are nowhere close to me. The sound of metal scraping against the hard stone cold floor can be heard, the noise resonating closer. The squeaking of a door opening sounds to be right next to me.

Finally a piercing light is shown from one of the walls of my enclosed space. Natural light from the outside world flutters in encasing the room slowly warming up the once cold and drewery space.

My head slowly sags up to my shoulder resting it. My head feels heavy like 40 tons of bricks. My eyes try to slowly adjust to the light only for the door to squeaky close. I beg in my head for the light to come back, much to my sorrow my prayers are not heard. The light from the door disappears and the person walks in.

The echoing of their footsteps trap me leaving my ears to ring never coming to a stop. Finally the steps subside, and a twinkling light is created. A lantern is lit giving me the ability to fully take in everything that is happening around me.

I was in some sort of cave which I assumed was the hard and cold floor and walls. Greenery and vines are slowly growing on the walls. The walls are rigid and are covered in many different types of stone. I look over to the last person I want to see.

Quarry has had a change of clothes and is now wearing a heavy black and white coat. With a red shay going across him, his breath comes out cold and he is wearing matching black gloves. His pants keeping the theme are a bright white making the light pounce off of them. A brand new scar crosses his face.

“How are you doing dear sister? Do you like your new home?” Quarry asked never stopping for my answer knowing fully well I was in no state to talk. “Well I hope you enjoy it after all it is where you will be staying for the rest of your life. You won't have to worry about anything else anymore. I personally will take care of your little…. Friends…” Quarry says his sinister smile growing. Causing his scar to rise.

Anger fuels through me warming up my body. I would yell at him and attack him but in my nauseated stay there was nothing I could do. I barely even had the strength to lift my head. I was angry. I knew my friends were in danger, but there was nothing I could do. I could only hope and pray that they get back safely.

I could no longer worry about them, I was more worried about my malnutrition. My body has become only skin and bones, representing the long period of time that has passed. My mind slowly went insane. I had lost all sense of time.

“Here to help ease your hunger.” Quarry says distastefully. Throwing a drowning sack at me. He quickly leaves the room. Not sparing me another glance.

My eyes go heavy as the door reopens and closes just as fast the sound of the keys and the clanking of metal can be heard all around as it slowly quiets out. Everything is becoming quiet again. The cold air returns, not being able to capture and keep the heat.

My body becomes heavy. I stare at the once drowned sack. Now just guessing where it could be. My mind and head become heavily slumping over my body. MY eyes go blurry and I’m gone again.

Once my eyes open again I only see darkness making it even more nerve racking and delirious, unable to tell if my eyes are actually open or if they are actually closed. I gather all of the left over energy in my body which isn’t much and reach around for the sack. My body quickly exhilarates all of the energy and my body fully sinks to the ground. My head falling on a softer material. My head lays heavily on the sack causing the air to turn and flip, the smell of meat unleashes from the bag. Making my body contain all energy that I didn’t even know I have to opening and attaining this meat.

My arms fling around the rounded sack trying to find the entrance. My hands reach a small bip in the material and vigorously claw at it, pulling it open. The smell of meat slowly envelopes the air. My body is losing all energy but at the same time gathering more for the will to eat something. My hand gets a hold of the meat ripping it off. I plunge it in my mouth not even caring for the awful taste.

Handful after hand full my mouth is plunged by the taste of the meat. The skin of the animal is still on but not having enough energy to skin the animal. I eventually passed out again from exhaustion but now with a partially full stomach.

Once I awake again I have more energy however it still wasn’t much. I pull myself off the ground and swallow fistfuls of the disgusting rotten meat again. Once I feel like I’m going to throw up I curry around the sack again in an attempt to keep warm, not even caring for the reeking smell that is radiating off of it.

I continue to follow the same thing over and over again. I wake up stuffing my face with meat then pass out and repeat. Eventually I have enough energy to drag the sack out of what I presumed to be the middle of the room and drag until I reach the walls. This takes many cycles until it is finally done.
