Captured By A Ruthless Vampire King
|32|~ Master of Manipulation~

Unedited.

Embry’s POV.

Cyrus lowers his head down to plant yet another gentle but firm kiss down onto my lips and then he sinks his fangs down into my bottom lip.

Lip biting!

I can’t stop myself from releasing a soft moan.

Next, Cyrus slips his tongue into my mouth, causing me to moan louder. Thanks to my favorite flavor sinking down into my taste-buds.

He taste so sweet. His tongue is such a tasty treat.

Seconds later, he’s devouring my tongue as if he can’t get enough. I’m so, so, so turned on.

After nearly five minutes of this phenomenal experience, Cyrus reluctantly removes his tongue. This time a real whine escapes from out of my mouth as he turns me around to face him.

He then cups my face with his feather-like but rough hands and my face falls down into his touch, slowly.

“Embry, I want to cl,”

“Your highness,” says an unknown voice from behind us, stopping Cyrus in mid-sentence and scaring the crap out of me.

Before I could blink Cyrus feather-like but rough hands are removed from my face and placed around the newcomer's neck.

“What the fuck were my orders,” Cyrus spits out with such venom, I jump.

“My apologies, your Majesty,” says the vampire warrior in a rush. And when I say he is a warrior. I mean it. He’s a stud of a man with crystal blue eyes, short jet black hair and skin as white as snow. He’s hot. Smoking, I don’t know how the hell I didn’t notice him before.

“Explain yourself,” my mate growls. The love and adoration in his expressionless than a second ago is now replaced with a scorching hot plate of fury. His expression is filled with so much rage, I’m almost certain that the toy soldier will shit on his self.

Surprisingly enough he doesn’t. To be quite honest, it appears that the toy soldier doesn’t have a single ounce of fear inside his heart. Not at all!

“I have received word from the king,” says the toy soldier, staring my mate directly in the eye. I really have misjudged this man. He’s no coward. “It has started,” his next words sends warning signals to ring loudly in my head.

What has started?

“What has started,” Cyrus voices my concerns out loud.

The toy soldier crystal blue eyes briefly flicker in my direction and then settle back onto my mate. Cyrus leans his head over to the side, studying him and then his golden eyes settle on to me.

He then turns back to face the toy soldier, and they continue to stare at each other for what feels like forever. It’s obvious they are having a silent conversation. It’s really annoying and rude.

After, another minute or two Cyrus releases the toy soldier and then places his undivided attention onto me.

“Embry,” says Cyrus, while walking back over to me. “Meet Gutter. He is the head of my security detail,” coolly introduces Cyrus as if he wasn’t just about to knock his head off his shoulders but okay.

Whatever! I’ll pretend to play dumb.

“Hello, Gutter,” I walk over to greet and extend out my hand.“I’m Embry,”

Gutter looks at me like I suddenly have grown two heads and then simply nods. Ouch! Nice.....

I turn back around to face my mate and of course, he looks expressionless. Not a single ounce of emotion can be identified on his handsome face. Ouch! Triple folds over...

“Gutter is one of my best men. He has trained with the best. He has fought alongside the best. Gutter is good at what he does,” says my mate and I have to fight the urge to roll my eyes.

Yeah, he’s good alright. Good at being rude I think to myself but don’t dare say that out loud, even though I want to. I don’t even understand why he’s telling me this anyway. What does the Gutter skill set have to do with me? Unless...

“He is also your new private guard,” Cyrus takes the next words right out of my head. What? I don’t need a guard nor do I want one. I’m a wolf, who can clearly take care of myself. I’ve been guarded my entire life. I hate it.

It is already bad enough I have to deal with my mate placing me in chains. I don't need anyone else telling me what I can or cannot do but arguing with my mate will not gain me any favor in this matter, especially if I argue with him in front of one of his... what did he call him again?

Oh, Right! “One of his best men.”

“Thank you,” I choose my next words carefully, “But, no thank you. I don’t need a guard. As you are already aware I’ve been training since the age of five. There is no need to waste a highly trained guard on me when he can be protecting someone, who actually needs protection,”

“This is not up for debate, Embry,” scolds Cyrus, like I’m nothing but a disobedient pup. “Gutter is your guard and that is that!”

Whelp! I don’t want a guard and that is that I so desperately want to snap back but I don’t because unlike Cyrus. I know how to choose my battles wisely. There is no need to argue or complain about things that I can’t change. I won’t waste my breath.

So with that being said, I do the complete opposite of what’s expected, I turn around and flash Gutter my most charming smile.

“Alright, then,” I say, smiling so hard I’m sure my face may break.“I’ll be honored to be the one that you guard,” I whisper lowly, sounding seductive. Wait! What?

“I need to take a shower,” I advise.“So I guess you're coming with me,” I say! I mean, I think I just said that. Hold, on! I can’t believe I actually said that.

Gutter's eyes nearly fall out of his head followed by Cyrus releasing a chilling roar. Oh, Snap! Maybe, I took things a little to far.

Maybe. He picks up the little antique side table and sends it flying across the room. The table shatters. There is a little hole in the wall now.

Gutter doesn’t flinch but I do and before I could blink Cyrus's hands is once again around his neck, choking the life out of him.

Oh, my Goddess! What have I done? Without thinking, I run over to his side and attempt to pull Cyrus off Gutter.

“Cyrus stop please,” I beg him. “Please Cyrus I was just playing around, please stop,” I continue to beg him. There is no way I would be able to live with myself if he ended this poor vampire life because I decided to try a childish tactic to get my way.

Cyrus knows that! He knows that I would be swallowed into a dark pit of depression. He wouldn’t do that to me. Would he?

“Yes,” my wolf makes her presence known once again. What the hell? It’s like she always appears at the wrong time.

“Cyrus, please.” My eyes are now filled with tears. He is still choking him and Gutter isn’t even putting up a fight.“Please,” I say it again. “I don’t want any other man. No one,” I tell him. “It was just a joke."

"I’m sorry. I promise I won’t speak to him or even look his way. Just please allow him to live,” I’m pleading on my knees now.

My words must have got through to him because finally, Cyrus lets him go. Gutter is not even gasping for air. He looks normal like my mate wasn’t just choking him to death. What the hell?

“Good,” snaps Cyrus, now standing in front of me with his full height. Shockingly enough, he doesn’t even look mad. He looks normal. Both of them look completely normal. I’m so confused. “You need to remember that you belong to me, rather I’m around or not.”

“If I ever feel any other way,” he turns to point at Gutter. “The opposite party will pay for it, am I clear,” he spits with such venom, sounding like a completely different man than the one who was holding me the entire night. The Ruthless bastard is back!

“Crystal,” I spit back, with a voice that’s not my own. It’s my wolf. She’s back, again.

“Hello, little wolf, ” spits my mate. “I wasn’t expecting you,”

“Stop fucking with my human,” she spits back. She is so mad and I’m to hurt to stop her. Cyrus knows what drama does to me. Why would he do that?

Cyrus rolls his eyes at her and then turns to face Gutter. “If anyone finds out about this, your dead. I’ll see you at the estate,” he says more to me than him, and then he’s gone.

Wait! What? Is he leaving me again?

“So what if he is,” my wolf growls inside my head. “You need to wake the hell up and smell the coffee. That man doesn’t give a rat ass about you or me,”

“Yes, he does,” I come to his offense. I know he is a tad bit bipolar. Okay, he is really bipolar, but to be fair I did ask for it. I openly flirted with another man just to get my way. Any male, vampire, wolf, or Lycan would go completely co-co. I don’t know what I was thinking. That’s not even something I would normally do.

“You wasn’t thinking,” explains my wolf. “I was! I took over your body just to expose his ass,”

What? That’s impossible! I would have felt her in control.

“You’re lying!” I snap, “And even if that was your point you didn’t expose a got darn thing. He’s my mate. Our mate,” I remind her. “He’s supposed to be jealous,”

My wolf release a spine-chilling laugh inside my head. She sounds crazy, really crazy! “You’re so fucking naive. He wasn’t jealous, Embry. Not at all,” she growls. “The little show he put on was nothing but a show to manipulate you into behaving like the perfect little bitch.”

“Look at his men,” she growls again. “Does he look like a man who’s in danger,” she points out and my eyes snap in his direction.

The toy soldier Gutter is watching me, quietly. “Our quote on quote mate is one of the most powerful men in the world,” she has another valid point. “If he wanted a man dead, trust me when I say he would be dead. Plus, the only way to kill a vampire is by,”

“Ripping it’s heart out or a bite from one of the deadly Kings,” I complete her sentence. She’s right! It was all a show. But for what?

“To manipulate you,” she states the obvious. “He the King of torture, which takes great skills. Were nothing but a tool, think about it, Embry. Your one of the most valued daughters in North America. Use your head,”

I take a moment to think over her words. Really, think about them.

“No, he won’t. He cares,” I whisper out loud, and Gutter lifts a single eyebrow, but thankfully he doesn’t respond.

“Foolish,” are my wolves last words before her presence is no longer felt. I heave a deep sigh and then give Gutter my undivided attention.

“Are you done,” he questions, his voice is extremely low. Why haven’t I noticed that before? I don’t respond. It’s really nothing to say.

He shakes his head at me before gently grabbing onto my arm, “Come on, little death trap. We are expected to arrive within the next 2 hours. We wouldn’t want little miss Chosen to not arrive on schedule, now would we,” he mocks.

At that moment, I decide that I don’t like him. If my wolf is right about my beloved that means that Gutter played along. The both of them used my fear to manipulate me and that is just cruel.

It’s been about an hour since the eventful moment inside of the art room. Gutter didn’t waste any time, escorting me inside yet another black SUV with tinted windows and taking me away from my dream home. The dream house that Cyrus had built for me, who has been M. I. A.

Honestly, I’m glad. His sudden departure has given me some time to think. I still can’t believe how quickly his character has shifted and I would be a complete liar if I said that my wolf evaluation about our mate actions didn’t bother me. In all honesty, it hurts.

I don’t want to believe that Cyrus has intentionally been messing with my head but I can’t downright deny that he hasn’t. Once again I’m torn, I swear it feels like I’m going through a never-ending battle with my mate and my wolf. It’s like both of them are fighting for dominance and I’m the one who’s stuck in the middle. It’s suck.

“Hey, death trap,” suddenly says, Gutter while he rolls down the thick tinted window that shields him from viewing me and vice versa.

“Yes, Mr. Gutter,” I’m trying my hardest to be polite, but this vampire is so rude. It’s like he wants to see me snap. He doesn’t speak much but when he does it annoys me. I just wish he wouldn’t speak at all.

“We have arrived, Miss Chosen,” he mocks once again. See? What I mean? His voice tone is soaked in sarcasm. It’s obvious he doesn’t like me and would rather be anywhere else in the world other than here with me. The feeling is mutual.

Trust me. But the difference between me and him is that I’m not going to be an asshole about it.

These vampires are so weird. All of them wear their emotions on their sleeves. They are all too easy to read. My father always said that if you show your hand, you let people see what your position is and what you intend to do. That is forfeiting, you are basically giving your opponent the win.

Gutter doesn’t like me and I don’t like him but guess what. He will never know it. He will never know how I truly feel. I only exposed my emotions to Cyrus because he’s my mate but these other vampires are in for a rude awakening. They won’t read me.

Instead of looking at him I place my attention onto the grand hand-crafted stone lodge in front of me that’s surrounded by nature. It is a majestic estate that appears to sit on around ten or eleven heavy snow-covered wooded acres. I haven’t seen another house during our hour-long drive. So I figure that we are in the middle of nowhere.

My sensitive nose can detect the fresh scent of organic saltwater, which also lets me know that we are fairly close to a lake and as I stare at the frosted mountain that circles me in. Lets me know that I’m in the center of it all. This place is perfectly hidden.

Whoever resides here doesn’t want to be found. I place my attention back onto the magical estate and begin to count windows. It has to be around ten bedrooms, maybe twelve. This place is truly such a charm. I wonder if Cyrus built this for me as well. Hopefully, he did. It’s beautiful.

“It’s beautifully,” I admit to Gutter as he opens up the door for me. I’m certain my smile is bigger than the desert sun. “I can’t wait to explore it,”

“Yeah, it is beautiful,” Gutter agrees, not even attempting to hide the irritation inside his voice. What is his problem? “Of course it is,” he continues on. “The King of all Kings wouldn’t have his estate built any other way,”

My smile drops instantly. The King Of All Kings. Cyrus wouldn’t bring me to the vampire King who killed my family home. Why would he do that? Why?!

“Come on, death trap,” says Gutter, grabbing my wrist and attempting to pull me along.

“No,” I snatch my wrist back. “I’m not going into that house,” I growl, allowing my wolf to present herself.

“Oh, yes you are,” he hisses. “You are going to go into this house, pretend to be the perfect little Chosen, and not utter a single word about being a dog,” he almost spits with bright blazing eyes.

Gutter butter must not know who’s he dealing with. My head falls back as creepy laughter escapes out of my lungs. He’s crazy.

“You are fucking crazy,” spits my wolf and I can’t help but to agree. “You’re going to have to make me,” she adds in. Yeah, you’re going to have to make us.

Surprisingly enough Gutter blazing red eyes return to their crystal blue shade, and he simply walks away.

“I’m not going to make you do a god damn thing. You’re a full-blown pit bull. You make your own decisions,” he says, earning a growl from us in response. I swear if one more dog joke comes out of his bloody mouth.

“But know this,” he says turning back around. “My King orders were very clear. If you were to break a single rule, every human inside of that beautiful estate,” he sarcastically says the word beautiful.

“Shall die,” Gutter tells me with a shrug.

“Why the fuck would I care,” replies my wolf. This time I remain quiet. I can’t find it in me to back her up.

“You don’t but I’m sure your human does,” he got us there.

My wolf growls in response as soon as the words fall from out of his mouth but thankfully she doesn’t take any action. Her presence once again fades into the background. She still cares about my humanity, despite her unusual behavior. She still cares.

“Thank You,” I tell her, even though I know she won’t respond. Then, my eyes travel back to Gutter. He is standing in the middle of the yard with the biggest smile stretched out across his face.

“Are you done, death trap,” he questions.

Again, I don’t respond because there is no reason to. I just follow him with my head held down into the house of the man that took my cousin's life.

I’m such a traitor.
