“Good morning, Elizia.” I said as I walked up to her, a cool breeze sweeping past as I stopped in front of her car. Elizia was talking to a random person on the soccer team, her fake cute giggling she used to get guys to look at her seemed strange, stranger than usual.

“Good morning, Zaphira,” Elizia said she turned to me a huge smile on her face. “Did Blaine show you the clothes he found at the mall?” She asked curiously.

“Yeah, he did I’m actually wearing it today,” I said as I showed her the bag that slung over my shoulder. “I’m surprised he got it, last I looked at it, it was not cheap which is why I waited to buy it.”

“Well, it suits you I’m glad he bought it for you it looks nice on you,” Elizia said as Blaine came up behind me.

“Good morning, Elizia,” Blaine said sounding more energetic than before. “I hope you got all you needed to hopefully snag boy of yours.” He said calmly.

I stood silently confused, strange feeling surrounding me as I glanced at Elizia and Blaine. Elizia looked disconnected as she stared at him a blank expression on her face before using her usual forced smile as she grinned at him.

Is it me or did something happen? Something feels off, but I can’t exactly figure what it is…. Did they get into a fight or something? Or… Did she confess?

I shook my head as I watched Blaine and Elizia talk, trying to ignore the strange feeling that seemed to linger, the energy around us seeming odd.

“Blaine can ask you something?” I blurted as Elizia rambled on about something to him, for a split second I thought she glared at me with anger in her eyes as Blaine nodded in agreement.

Did Elizia just glare at me? No seriously did she ask him out or something that happened? It feels like she was rejected was she rejected?

I pulled Blaine aside and took a deep breath, Blaine looked at me curiously as he looked at me, I could see Elizia watching her eyes looking strangely angry as if I had offended her by talking to Blaine.

“What happened between you and Elizia? Did you guys get into a fight or something?”

Blaine looked at me confused then glanced at Elizia a confused look on her face as she stared at us.

“No, like I said most of the time I sat and watched her try on multiple types of clothes that I found similar ones as we went to one of her other stores told her that I would pick you up the clothes but she didn’t seem angry why?” Blaine asked confused.

Nothing, in particular, it’s just… I’m not exactly sure just feels strange I feel like Elizia’s angry about something but I just can’t figure what.

“Oh, I didn’t even notice.”

I took a deep breath worried about asking but I was curious, if Elizia never confessed if Blaine shared the same feelings as Elizia maybe I could tell her or it would just solve my curiosity.

Blaine looked at me as he waited for me to say something else the same look on his face when he knows I’m keeping something.

“Okay I know this might be a strange question to ask but… What’s with you and Elizia?” I said surprised that I even managed to say it.

I could feel bubbles inside me as I tensely waited for him to say something. My heart fluttered in my chest nervously surprised that I could even say anything to him like that.

I hope he doesn’t take this the wrong way, I don’t want Blaine to think that I would be jealous if he ended up with Elizia or for that matter hate the idea.

“What do you mean? There’s nothing between me and Elizia I mean were friends thought you knew.”

“I knew you guys were friends I mean… Is there something about Elizia that you like?”

Damn, how do you ask a friend of yours if they like another friend like his or her specific way of phrasing the sentence without being outright? At this point take forever for me to ask I wonder if I should just be blunt.

“Like? Umm, I guess I would say her confidence… She’s always been that type of girl where you are more likely to get punched by her than confessed by her, she’s to school tomboy the one that gets along with all the other boys at school done well… Us.” Blaine said as he looked thoughtful.

That did not help, but he does got a point I’m surprised that she even likes him to begin with. But that doesn’t answer my question I guess I should have phrased it better.

“No, what I mean is… Ugh… Do you have a thing for Elizia?” I managed to say practically forcing it out.

I held my breath as I looked at Blaine a shocked look on his face as if I had slapped him.

“As in a crush? Are you asking if I have a crush on Elizia?” Blaine said slowly as if I had said something wrong.

I didn’t say anything I just nodded slowly regretting what I had asked. Blaine’s face scrunched as if a bad taste filled his mouth.

Starting to wish I didn’t say anything, oh God is he really that mad at me? Maybe I shouldn’t have said anything. This is what I get for prying.

Blane sighed before sliding his hand over his hair as if to clean up some sort of mess that was there.

“Elizia … really? Why would I like Elizia? She’s more like a sister to me and I already have a crush on someone.”

Wait! Blaine has a crush on someone? Why hasn’t he told me? Who is this girl he’s got a crush on? … I’m really tired of being left in the dark how long he liked this girl? I looked at him feeling momentarily betrayed that he had to feel like he had to keep it from me like I was some child. I know it’s been since he had someone, he liked but I am not the same as I was back then I would not stop him from dating anyone.

“Really! Why didn’t you tell me I’m not like I was when I was a kid I—”

“I know, but I haven’t exactly talked to her, and well… You don’t exactly take rejection very well,” he said as if he was telling me that I was the one hurting by an imaginary breakup.

“Remember the last girl who rejected me? The one in grade school with the brown hair.”

“Yeah, she was a very snobby kid she picked on anyone who she thought was deemed unworthy to play in the sandbox with her.”

“Right… You didn’t exactly take that well you would think that you were the one rejected by her, and cried about how mean she was for rejecting me? Then you spent a week getting revenge by knocking her lunch onto the floor then accusing her of anything you can think of.”

“In my defense, she ruined a lot of my school projects regardless of my revenge and she never knew it was me,” I said as I thought back to those days.

Too bad I’m not like that now, Raven would benefit with a few lunches being knocked over and snowballs being thrown at her head.

“In any case, I would have told you about it after I talked to her I would not one another repeat from that day.”

She treats me like a child it’s like I never grew up to him, that’s not fair it’s like I never much heard in his eyes has he ever seen anything I’ve done? Or my just some bratty child that he’s babysitting?

“Are you saying that I’m still some child? I’m not the same that I was before I don’t give a damn who the girl is, as long as the girl treats you right I am not petty like I was I'm not going to throw my sandwich at her and whip snowballs at her head.” I said annoyed.

“Zaphira—”

“What do you see when you look at me? Have you not noticed that I’ve matured? Have you not seen me at all?”

I could see Blaine’s expression changing, as he looked uncomfortable at me as if I said something embarrassing.

“Good luck with your attempts, I won’t be around to ruin your chances or ruin your relationship. You can be free to do whatever you want.” I said turning on my heel.

Blaine grabbed my arm just before he stepped forward, my eyes meeting Elizia who stood their mouth agape with daggers for eyes.

Elizia! Shit, how long has she been standing there?

“How could you… Zaphira.” Elizia said angrily before storming off.

Great, she must think that Blaine likes me and she must think that I like Blaine. That stupid idiot all he had to do was just tell me that he liked somebody… Now Elizia hates me, and Blaine thinks I’m some immature child.

I shook my head annoyed Elizia and Blaine when I could feel his grip still on my arm I turned to him glared at him before yanking my arm free, I could hear Blaine about to say something but I just kept walking ignoring anything he had to say.
